Just bought 2 today. Will be seeing how these are. I have the original 10 rounder that came with the 597. I also bought 4 of the 30 rounders in the black plastic, because I heard those were better then the clear. Three out of four work fine. The other has an issue with the retaining ridge at the top of the mag. I just wish there was a manufacturer out there that would develop a metal feed lip type of magazine similar to the Ruger, but that would fit the 597 of course.
george washington You will not be disappointed in the quality of these magazines. I think I have 10 of them, and never had a problem with one. Those 30 round magazines are a dam joke. I am with you some one needs to step up and make a magazine for this stellar rifle. Its a good chance you will be buying more of these.
Joel Mancuso Recieved them today via priority shipping, $6.00. Throw in the $12.95 each cost with no tax and this is a sweet deal to me considering a Remington 10 rounder is $15.00+ each. The quality of them is superb. Obviously milled from a solid billet of aluminum with no seams at either end. Haven't shot any rounds through them yet but if the build quality is any indication I'm sure there will be no problems. I will definitely be buying more of these. Question. Why can't you just double or triple the length of one of these like the keep shooting mag and make a 25 or 30 rounder out of it? I believe the "curve" of the factory plastic 30 rounders inhibits consistant feeding. Just my thinking.

To try to answer your question, I believe once you get over about 10 rounds in a double stack 22lr magazine that is straight you are going to get binding issues. I believe the 30 round remington magazines have too great of a curve to them, which is just half of their problem. The other is poor casting/molding. The curve should be similar to the ruger BX25.
I just picked up a couple of these and you are right the Keep shooting are very obviously way better. It amazes me why Remington can't produce a decent mag for an excellent rifle. I hope to be trying these out this weekend or next week. Nice review by the way!!!
g c I had some feeding issues with the plastic magazine, but not with the metal ones. I never had any misfires or ejection issue either. I thought you may have been using cheaper ammo as misfires and ejection issues or common with that type of ammo. In my experience ejection issues are caused by short stroking of the bolt. I would guess the misfire have something to do with the firing pin. If you are comfortable disassembling the rifle, do so and see if there are any burs, metal chips or fragments that could be interfering with the bolt and firing pin’s travel. Give everything a clean and lube and try shooting it again. If it doesn’t work then you could always send it back to Remington.
I have 8 of these magazines and they all have ran fine. I have also been made aware that remington makes a steel version of the 597 magazine. It may be worth checking out.
