I would love to attend one of these auctions. I have a Philco 38-690 console that I have had since I was ten years old. My dads friend from work gave it to me way back then. It is in decent shape . I am thinking of selling it now that I am nearly 70. An auction like this one would be great.
The JD auctions are a great place to find some hard to find stuff, and to place vintage electronics in that are no longer wanted. The JD Auctions mostly cover the eastern PA, and New Jersey areas.
That Philco 39-6 went for 10 bucks! The 16B with the nicer peaked top went for 20 bucks. The Hallicrafters 7R10 radio went for a mere $22.50. Believe that RCA tombstone radio is a 9T and went for an incredible low price of $20. A Zenith racetrack model H511 and a Belmont 6D111 went for $20 too. Love that Sonora RCU-208 and would have bid on it. I would like to see what followed you home!
I must say, AM radio is not what it used to be. I would get AM stations way back in the good old days. WABC, WHN, WNBC, WWDJ, WICC, and let's not forget WWRL the BIG 16 at the end of the AM dial. WWRL was an all black radio station that played music by black singers only. I had a multi band radio back in the very early 70s and found stations from all over the globe. Now I search TH-cam and find many of my long lost favorites . The UK. long lost classics are the best.
It certainly wasn't what it was when I grew up. WWRL is now "BIN", and we have 3 sports talk radio stations on AM in New York (and a 4th in central NJ). I loved WABC, WINS, WMCA, and others playing music in the 60's! At least we have an AM station in Morristown NJ playing oldies - WMTR 1250.
I am in Florida now, AM radio has no oldies and no music to speak of. Totally to many stations to speak of either. Here i am with about 400 or so antique radios and no ambition to recap any of them. In NYC I still have my place with about another 200 radios and about 100 record players. I have been collecting way back starting in high school 1972. I have some really neat stuff. I need a knob for a 1948 "CYARTS" bullet radio. I can use some help finding one. I checked with gobs of knobs but no luck. Do you know where to look. ???
I always love auction videos! Kudos to Mrs. RW on the camera work! A-1!
She gets better every time she gets my videos!
I wish I could get to some of these auctions. That bakelite tube Belmont was a steal.
The Belmont was in really nice condition too........

Great selection of radios. The AK Breadboard and little Belmont were nice. I probably would’ve purchased all the Philcos.
Steve.
The AK breadboards used to bring huge money. This could have been had pretty reasonably. NO ONE WANTED IT!

Sounds like some decent prices?
Prices were more than fair! There were some some stuff that went high...
