    Thank you so so so much! I read the Wakhan section in the manual three times and still couldn't figure it out because there were no visualizations to help this. After watching this video and having a manual open at the same time I was able to play my first solo game of Pax Pamir and had a blast! I feel like this might become my favorite game to play solo!

    Thanks for the great video! Question though, at 8:16, would the Wakhan betray her own card if she had the rupees for it? Or she never betrays her own card? I thought that was one of the suboptimal moves she makes. Or at least that’s how I’ve been playing lol

    • @ChrisCypher
      @ChrisCypher 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the rules say she betrays her own cards. so it would seem the only reason she wouldn't take the action is lack of rupees.

    At 24:30, if the Wakhan is already in a region with an enemy tribe, has the move action listed, and an adjacent region also has an enemy tribe, will she move the army from her current region or will she forego the action altogether?

    Great video! Quick question on the Wakhan's betray action you demonstrate. I believe there is one of your spies on the card, so isn't it being held hostage and the action available for use if they pays a bribe (in this case 1 coin for the 1 spy)?

    • @ModernTablegamer
      @ModernTablegamer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is correct. One coin per spy on the card if my memory serves me correctly. Thanks Brian!

    Great tutorial, I think the best one available for Pax Pamir Solo. But I missed in rules and also in video an explanation, how to handle the situation if Wakhan purchases an event card and, secondary I missed some more examples for the handling of special card actions (those in rectangular area).

    That is a very well presented and put together video, I watch quite a few how to play videos and this is right up there. Great job! I’ve two handed Pax Pamir three time’s to learn most of the rules prior to a solo attempt. This will have really helped thank you. As a separate question have you won it playing solo, and how hard is it to beat? Thx again

    Amazing! Thanks.
    One question: 21:35 You talk about card prioriyt she use when she does the battle (only one card in this case). But when she use card for actions, from what I understand she doesent use card priority in that case, instead you go use the first card from left to right to perfrom the indicated action.
    Am I wrong?

    • @ModernTablegamer
      @ModernTablegamer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Viktor, first off thanks so much for the comment and hope all is well! I'll attempt to answer this and hopefully I can makes some sense out of my answer. When the Wakhan takes a card based action as listed on the Wakhan card AND she has multiple cards where the action is available, she will use the general card priority list to narrow down which card she uses for the action (similar to the battle example). Where she goes through her court from left to right is after she uses her two actions for the turn AND has cards matching the favored suit that haven't already been used in the turn, then she will start from the left of her court and take the leftmost action from each card if she can and then works her way to the right. Hopefully this makes sense.

    I disagree with your ruling at 10:28 ... you say “find the one that places the most armies and/or roads [from among those that wakhan can afford].” However the rules state “Many actions on the AI card will list a set of instructions and conditions which must be true in order for the action to be taken. If these conditions cannot be met, the action is skipped.” So, there is no evaluation of budget until *after* the target card is identified - and if the card with the most armies and roads is unaffordable, this action would be completely skipped, because she cannot buy it. Granted, in your specific example, she can afford the target card. But I believe it is inaccurate to say “look at the cards she can afford and then radicalize the one that best meets the condition.” By your spoken words, if City of Ghazni was unaffordable, you would have instead chosen the affordable card with the most armies/roads. That would be an error. If I am wrong here, please let me know. EDIT: In his own video the designer Ricky Royal does what you do here... radicalizing the most qualified card (with regard to the specific conditions on the AI action) WITHIN those cards that are affordable. Not skipping the action when the (absolute) most qualified card is unaffordable. This contradicts the rules as written to me, as stated above. Where in the rules are you finding this direction?

    • @ModernTablegamer

      Hi jsibleytube. Thanks for the question on this. It's been a couple months since I was deep into these rules on this one, but if I remember correctly, this is a rule / clarity that was added in the 2nd printing of the rules. I believe if you have an edition of Pax Pamir 2e that was printed earlier than October 2020, you will have the older rules (like I did). There were a few important things that changed / were better clarified in the 2nd printing rules. boardgamegeek.com/filepage/174408/rulebook-pax-pamir-second-edition Let me know if that one helps.

    Re the last option for discarding cards from Wakhan's Court - Lowest card number: Is that talking the little number in the bottom right corner, that is different on every card?

    • @ModernTablegamer
      @ModernTablegamer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. It didn't seem to get used too much in the games I've played against the Wakhan, but yes, that is the final tie breaker.

    At 7:37 does she not have to pay for that second card?

    • @ModernTablegamer

      Good catch! It looks like I edited out when she paid for this card for some reason. The market shows at around 8:30 that there are rupees on the cards to the left of the one she purchased so I believe she did pay. I just think edited out too much there. Thanks for pointing this out!

      Hi Ed, Thanks for pointing this out. I went back and looked at this and I must have edited out paying for this second card for some reason. If you forward to my turn, you'll see the rupees got placed on the cards, but my mistake for not showing it.
