    The 80/20 has been a LIFE SAVER!!! They have a ton of acres at my barn to trail ride on. Some hills and fields are heavenly to gallop up or through. Whenever I would give the aid, my pony would throw a little buck and my seat would bounce on her back, making her buck even more. I fell off about 3-4 months ago and hadn't cantered on trails, or even at all. I missed out on so many fun opportunities. I watched the 80/20 video and felt so secure in the walk and trot that I tried the canter. My pony threw her little buck, but all I did was stand up a bit more and it all happened underneath me. After that, we had a great canter. Now we can even gallop up the hill I fell off on with (almost) complete confidence! I am SO grateful for you guys! I don't have a trainer and am still learning, and so is my pony. Thank you so much! x 🥰 🥰 🥰

    I had to pause this mid video, because I was crying listening to Abby talk about the canter transition and hearing that fear and shame in her voice. That is me. Abby, you are not alone at all. I 10000% do the same thing and feel the same things. I can’t wait to hit play again and see how this one ends, but my heart is right there with you through this. I can wait to see how Alicia breaks this down and for the seat seminar!

    Abby, you didn’t let anyone down. You went above and beyond showing us 80/20 and the ‘pop’ canter aid in action. Well ridden, very inspirational. Alicia, I love the way you get to the *why* not only of the training scale and how to sit, but taking the time to learn why a rider is reacting in a certain way rather than yelling for not doing what they were told. Golden video!

    Dearest Abbey for the majority of your interview with Alicia you appeared really unsure of yourself and lacking in confidence but towards the end when you talked about your security in your seat and the 80/20 rule you just blossomed. If Alicia says you're talented then trust her and be more confident in your ability. You seem a very thoughtful and kind young lady, just remember to be kind to yourself. Looking forward to seeing more of you working with Alicia.🧡💛💚

I have to admit, so I kept hearing Abbey‘s voice, and I kept hearing a Texas accent that some other accent… I grew up in Texas, but still couldn’t figure out the other accent. Texas Australian, perhaps? So proud of Abbey for working so hard!

    Great job Abbey! I feel, I have felt, and struggled with the same thing about the canter. It's so, so hard to overcome! I recently rode my horse the first time cantering after time off for an illness. He threw out the tiniest, I don't even think it counts as a buck but it felt huge to me and he was generally super excited (for a 22 year old) when I asked for canter, and I just kinda slipped into a light seat and was standing on the ground better than I had at any other time and I just was laughing. It was fine, everything was fine, he came back as soon as I asked.

    Oh my goodness am I grateful for this video.. I’m only a minute in but this is my problem. I’ve ridden since I was little off an on, fast forward to me working on an event yard and we were extremely lucky to be able to warm the horses in before the boss sat on .. I’m on his recent retired badminton horse .. alls fine.. the boss is in the arena but on another horse .. walk, trot transitions fine, in an outline and then I ask for canter and the horse just runs on 🤦🏽‍♀️ so mortified I bring him back to me and try again… still don’t get it.. my boss at this point has noticed and tries to help.. at this point I feel like I’m throwing everything at the trot , my legs are flapping.. my upper body collapsed and the boss says leave it there and he gets on. Fast forward 10 yrs later and I still think about each canter transition with absolute fear and position goes to pot. I can’t get out of my head that I’m useless at canter transitions in the arena 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ thank you sooo much for this.

    I can vouch for the 80/20 rule and the Pilates. Watched the Pilates videos last night and rode my horse today and the difference it made to my horse was incredible. However I know that my Lower abs and back are still weak as I had to continually concentrate on making sure my pelvis was in the right position. Going to do some Pilates everyday now hopefully it will get easier!

    YES!!! Because I get so confused. I know it’s 80/20 in the stirrups but then how do you do that and connect your seat bones…..I am so confused. I would love for you guys to explain that to me.

      @YourRidingSuccess  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much for tuning in!! Definitely come along to the masterclass to learn more but you still have weight in your seat with the 80/20 rule, you just aren't dumping your weight into the saddle like you would when you sit on a chair and fully relax xx

  • @beetheequestrian6238
    @beetheequestrian6238 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This was amazing. Also so happy I did the VIP!! Definitely worth it…so much information in such a shaker time. I wanted to ask a few questions.
    1) The 80/20 rule, do you do that in walk as well)
    2) I bounce in trot (hopefully I won’t after putting everything you have taught into practice) but when he asks me to remove my stirrups…which is often…not only do I bounce, I am also not staying in the middle of the saddle. How can I make that better? How do I stop bouncing without stirrups?
    3)When I do trot canter transition how do I do the scoop forward and connect my seat bones if there isn’t much weight going onto my seat bones?
    4) do I stay in 80/20 my entire lesson? (Definitely need to build up my stamina if I do 🤣🤣)
    I know it’s a lot of questions (sorry). But I just want you guys to know the masterclass was AMAZING as always!!! I love the information giving and so how loud of all the lucky members signed up to your membership!!! It’s so worth it for anyone that has the money and is sitting on the fence wondering….SIGN UP!! You will only regret not doing it sooner!!! So much information!! I wish I had a sponsor to pay for it for me….amazing guys!!! Love love love.

    • @YourRidingSuccess

      Thanks so much for tuning in Bee! You want to always apply the 80/20 rule- even in walk. Regarding canter transitions, your seat bones will be touching the saddle anyway using the 80/20 rule! Remember you still have 20% of your weight through your seat and upper thighs. The bouncing is a symptom- you have to look for the cause- often it is due to gripping. Have a watch of this video Alicia has done on not bouncing in the sitting trot- th-cam.com/video/JldO2EYd5oc/w-d-xo.html

    What I mean by that Is after we have a nice warm up his head is down and subtle. When we walk after the warm up his head goes straight up like a giraffe and it's like he wants to pick a fight. And it seems to have happening more and more frequently.

      This is great you are working on your 80/20 and yes it may feel different from what you are used to and you may be needing to do some more work “out of the saddle” to ensure your body can make the position and support you. Try watching the Pilates videos on TH-cam and use Alicia’s exercise from the seminar of standing evenly in front of a chair then lowering yourself with your position like it would be in the saddle towards the chair then only touch onto the chair before coming back up - this can help you practise and also get stronger.
