    Hey guys! Thanks for all of the response to the video, I didn't expect it to take off like it did.
    One thing I made a huge mistake on is battery voltage. Milwaukee's 18V nominal voltage is the same as Bauer's 20V "max" voltage, and I only thought they were different because I fell for their sneaky marketing. Thanks to all who corrected me on this issue.

    I like your unbiased, honest and fair opinion in this review. When I started doing maintenance, I was using DeWalt. Later in my career I used Bosch for about a year and then I was introduced to Milwaukee because it was on sale. I have since stuck with that brand, but the Bauer does seem to give it a run for the money. Obviously, they are not on the same level, but it’s still a great tool. You just earned yourself a follower! Thank you and God bless you!!!

I think it's the best deal overall because the Gen 3 is powerful enough to use as an impact wrench for most things, and if you don't put the battery through a ton of cycles then the Vanon will do just fine for a long time. Thank you for the comparison video! Cheers!

    Just bought the Bauer. Your review is very evenhanded. After reviewing your comparison, I agree with your findings and as a casual user, the Bauer would still be my choice. I’ve purchased expensive brands in the past and the batteries typically fail before I put much time on. As a casual user, it’s cheaper just to buy a complete replacement than a new battery.

      Don't count on the batteries ! I bought my first and last Bauer battery. I used cordless tools all day long on railroad . We beat them to death . Took reps sold us every major brand out there .They were all decent . The Metabo was best ,it out lasted everything 2 to 1. Milwaukee's were always solid too! That being said my Bauer 20 v has good torque but battery lasts about like a 14 volt nicad. The 30 day warranty HF gives flat out pisses me off. I think the cordless tools are where I step away from HF .

    • @FormulaJake
      @FormulaJake  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If that's the case, that's total misinformation. I know it doesn't seem like much, but more than 10% voltage difference should be noticeable.

    • @GrimResistance
      @GrimResistance 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@FormulaJake Well it's just the difference between nominal and peak voltage. A lithium battery has a nominal voltage of 3.6v, there are 5 cells in series for those tools so 3.6 x 5 = 18v. The peak voltage though is 4.2v per cell, 4.2 x 5 = 21 but they just call it 20.
      They're exactly the same, possibly even the same brand 18650 cells, just differently advertised.

    • @derekdugger2321
      @derekdugger2321 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was looking to see if someone mentioned that, right after he said the Bauer was a higher voltage. tool. 20v max is max of the batteries on the charger. Marketing scheme black and decker used to make their dewalt crap seem better, ( don't really know if they started it, but it does seem like something black and decker would do?) Milwaukee doesn't need to do the fake marketing strategy; their customers are smart enough not to fall for the battery is stronger while in the charger wool. That's why they still just say what it is 18v. Keep it real and honest, the opposite of black and decker, who will put together crap tools in a sale kit, put dewalt name on it, so people think they are getting a high end tool at a great price; when they were taken, buying a lower quality tool than offered on the shelf with low end batteries. Then someday they may waist their time and find out why dewalt warranty service has a 1 1/2 star rating. My emotions of rip offs, took me way off topic. Sorry

    There is a point in most of these situations where getting anything to be just a little bit better is very expensive, twice as much or more. Unless you do this kind of work for a living, and you do it intensively for hours with one kind of tool at a time, I'd say it's worth the extra money. That's a rare situation. Bauer is a solid tool, and HF has really made an impression over the last few years. I remember in the early 90s, HF was kind of a joke. No more.

  • @fishyfool
    @fishyfool 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    For the price, there is no comparison, Bauer hands down. It's better than the Dewalt, and nearly as good as the Milwaukee at 1/3rd the price.
    Not to mention battery price. I can get 4 batteries for the Bauer for less than the price of two Milwaukee batteries.
    Brushless is better, no argument, but if you need tools to get started in the trades and don't have a ton of cash up front, buy the Bauer. Milwaukee will still be there when you can afford to upgrade.

    You missed a big comparison, try driving lag bolts with the Bauer. The Milwaukee running on 3 is putting out much more power than the Bauer which is also something to look at when talking about the battery consumption. Not saying the Bauer is no good, I would buy it if I didn’t want to spend the money on Milwaukee but there’s no comparison between the two. Having to stop and let the Bauer cool down is also a negative, if you have a big job the Milwaukee would be way more efficient and durable. Running brushed motors hot all the time is a good way to break them. But just for use around the house most people will get more than their money’s worth out of the Bauer, but i would never take one on a job site.

      HF doesn't so warranties, they give you a choice, save the money on a limited warranty that most dont use, due to shipping cost and the probability it may not be covered, or purchase an exchange plan, if it breaks, walk out the store with a new one, no questions asked. Most companies bet that 80% wont cash in on warranty work and add the cost of warranty to the sale and consumers believe that if it has a great warranty coverage time, it's a better tool. The Milwaukee and Ridged are limited warranties and what you did may not be covered? That's why they want you to include a credit card number, so they can charge it, if they won't cover it. Black and Decker yellow is even worse and have a 1 star rating for warranty work.

    • @derekdugger2321
      @derekdugger2321 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fishyfool it's a replacement plan. A warranty you will have to pay to ship the item to and from, will replace broken parts if covered under normal use and whatever else the fine print states. The exchange program is different, as no matter what happened , normal use, abused, fell out the truck driving on the highway, threw it in the neighbor's pool, you walk out with a brand new one that day, no questions asked.

    They both use the same cells and have the same voltage.

    Unfortunately, the one-key feature only works if your phone app and tool are within 100 feet of each other. It will probably help you find your tool if you just misplaced it at you home or job site. However, if the tool was stolen, chances are slim the thief and tool will be that close, unless he is very stupid. 100 feet (30 yards) is not very far. It’s not like the “find me” app that can find your Iphone using gps.

    • @RandyMarsh0301
      @RandyMarsh0301 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which is true. But the good thing about one key.. Is that it's always working/scanning l. So you pass by someone who does have it running.. It checks in via their app/phone.

    Now compare the Bauer to a regular Milwaukee M-18 impact drill.
    Or compare the Milwaukee M-18 to your Milwaukee FUEL M-18 impact drill.
    You didn’t compare the Bauer to the regular Milwaukee M-18 impact drill, you compared it to Milwaukee’s “fuel” series which is their professional/commercial line of tools.
    You also did regular drill test & you didn’t do impact tool tests… should have timed each tests & each screw/bolt that you drove in the wood or what ever you were using.
    With an impact drill I would expect to see someone changing a wheel… (taking off & putting back on lugs)
    Still an ok video. I just think you compared the wrong tools for brand comparison

    A guy with his own business would be better off with the better bang for the buck which is the baur lineup. These power tools arent generic like the old hf stuff. One could buy 3 baur impacts to 1 milwki. Dont even get started on the overpriced batteries. U can still get more 3a packs than one milwki 5a. Telling someone starting a business to overspend for milwkisnapoff tools is a thing of the past. There are better bangs for the buck

    • @aarontkachuk
      @aarontkachuk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree! With Bauer and Harbor Freight, you are immediately profitable because they are affordable. The jobs you end up doing pay for the tool upon first use, and everything after that is all profit.

    Great test but I can say My Milwaukee batteries are not worth the money . when i bought my drill and driver set it came with two batteries. One did not charge at all when I tried to get either a new battery or cash reimbursement I was told to bad so sad it was not covered. I bought two more brand new and 1 lasted about a month once again told to bad so sad. My Bauer tools are all working well and my Bauer batteries work just fine. I don't need a fancy name on the side I need tools that work when I need them to. Take it for what it's worth.

    2 updates.
    1. Bauer now has a 20v brushless impact driver.
    2. Bauer now has a 5 amp battery pack.
    The impact driver is available as tool only regularly priced at $59.99 but until Nov 3, 2022, it's $49.99 and as a kit with the 1.5 amp battery for $69.99. The 5 amp battery prices at $54.99 with a super coupon, regularly priced at $59.99. So up until Nov. 3, you can get the impact driver only for $49.99 and a battery for $54.99 plus a charger for $29.99 or a quick charger for $34.99. Putting a unit together with the 5 amp battery and the higher end charger for around $150.00 including tax, or take the kit for $69.99 which includes a standard charger and 1.5 amp battery and add a 5 amp for $130.00.
    I'd like to see a rematch of all brushless drivers with the 5 amp batteries.
