Honestly it’s been great seeing how much the Japanese girls stepped up with new tricks, they couldn’t have kept upwith Chloe otherwise. Funa doing that heel flip Back lip was INSANE. I was so happy for her. First time I’ve seen her do such a BIG flip in trick at a contest. And you had that amazing run from Yumeka, it’s crazy that she didn’t qualify despite also smashing the kick flip feeble later. And finally Coco has grown into a real titan. I didn’t even expect this but I think she may be a possible Olympic winner. Not only that great hurricane grind, lovely kick flip board slide and also big flip board. The emotion on her face as she went for the final attempt, crying knowing she wouldn’t make olympics if she didn’t land it. Very happy for her! Also amazed at the maturity with which the Japanese skaters that didn’t make olympics handled things. It’s really weird because many Japanese move to places like Australia, UK, some USA. It’s strange because if some of these girls move to the west and decide to represent USA OR UK or AUS they’d easily qualify for the next olympics, I wonder which skater will be the first to represent a different country. There’s just too much talent for them all to have a chance to represent Japan.
I have heard some nasty people say (very ugly prejudice) that they are all “emotionless robots you cannot tell apart”. Which is really not true and shows someone doesn’t skateboard if they say that. If anyone has followed the contests you can see how diverse they are in their passion for skateboarding. Yumeka is super technical, does the most flips into slides and grinds. Has a tendency to crouch long before she pops. Liz Akama loves to do specific grinds like feeble 180, fs 360 into boardslide et She also loves doing fs big heels and other tricks like that. She always does a bouncing before popping as if she’s charging energy lol Funa is big on crooks but also has some flip in flip out tricks she’s bringing to contests, heel flip back lip, etc she can do stuff like fs tail big heel out or heel flip blunt but hasn’t done it in contest yet. She always holds her hands out in front of her with an awkward but unique style. Miyo Ito has aggressive style but loves doing hard flips and big kick flips, also kick flip front board and blunt slides. Momiji has the best style, loves crook nollie heel out, has big slimy front board and big flip front board on lock. Hands down she shreds like she’s sleeping. Finally coco also very consistent, kickflip front board, bigspin front board, big flip front board. When you’ve watched all the WST events you know how different all these skaters are so it’s really shocking when people insult the Japanese skaters and give prejudice insults.
Crazy that both Momiji and Oda didn't qualify. The japanese are so far ahead of the rest that the #5 and #7 ranked skaters in the world didn't qualify for the Olympics
Momiji has had trouble lately hitting her tricks after that bad slam she took a few months ago I have noticed, very similar to Funa. It took Funa a while to get back to form after she slammed her head in SLS about a yr ago . Momiji I believe will be back, she just needs to give herself time. It's just how the sport is unfortunately. These girls are pretty much gymnast on wheels. It's a tough sport.
I feel extremely sad for Momiji… I think she needed better coaching, look at the instagram posts she puts out. She is simply out the most talented and technical and stylish skater out there. She’s there busting out tail slide Nollie 360 heel out. She’s doing super super technical flip in and flip out combinations. But when it comes to some contests she just lost tactically, like bailed once too many or didn’t take an easy trick and came bottom one too many times. It’s really really sad, I am devastated for her but she is still the greatest and at the top of the new generation.
Is Oda not going to the Olympics?? Her progression has been really strong lately, she’s really pushing Momiji for top contention. So consistent with the kickflip front feeble as well.
Is the qualifying settled now with this? No more qualifying competitions? _(edit. nevermind. Just saw that yes this was the final qualifier)_ Wow... Momiji the most stylish out of the Japanese for me. Skilled and stylish. A bit similar to Yuto in her effortlessness. Style matters in skateboarding. Liz Akama on the other hand the female Sora Shirai. Also an effortless style. Floating on the rails. The Japanese have a ridiculously deep talent pool currently.
You're off your head, more than 10 years ago Nyjah was doing full cab flip back lips and bs 270 noseblunts lol, female skateboarding is definitely progressing but let's not exaggerate anything
@@froogleislive Did not talk about the top male skaters. The 3-4 best women skaters are now better than many of the SNL male skaters 10 years ago. You are talking over your head. And don't worry... the BEST woman Finals in sk8 history !!!
