I'm kinda sick of the people labeling Ann and Andy's relationship as incestuous in the comments. My only guess is that they've never experienced a strong fraternal bond such as Ann and Andy's. I had this kind of bond with my cousin when we where younger. She meant a lot to me. And I'm sure she felt the same way. Yet none of us had the need to express our love in a carnal way. A hug, a smile, a kiss on the cheeks or an "I love you" were more than enough. And in my humble opinion that's the purest and strongest expression of love I've ever had in my life.
I believe that the drawing, because the characters are two cloth dolls that come to life from the absence of a child, speak of a love of twin brothers, a love to remain in the fantasy, to approach companionship, loyalty and friendship for children. But by the gestures and acts of the characters, also identifies messages of love and passion of a heterosexual couple. And, thinking of the first drawings of 1941 released on TH-cam, which were released in World War II, could be a couple. One of the drawings mainly talks about how unsalable they were separately, and this at a time when the war unfortunately separated many couples. Just like how much Ann was jealous enough to fall ill when another woman could come to Andy. In this way, it does not make sense to talk about incest, but to talk about how much the two possibilities are possible in the context of the drawings.
The creator of Raggedy Ann and Andy literally said that they're not related whatsoever. Everyone started thinking they were related because they look alike. There are plenty of old figurines that are official merchandise of them kissing. A cartoon made in 1940 directed by the creator's son has them getting married for god's sake. th-cam.com/video/TIcMBbiGGfo/w-d-xo.html And here it is. Them being related was just a rumor that is thought to be fact and that's it. They are a precious wholesome couple damn it.
Nobody’s labeling it as such, it’s just that the creator literally made them as a couple. And this is one of the few depictions in ANY media where they’re siblings instead of boyfriend and girlfriend. This song is a traditional romantic duet which is downright odd for a brother and sister. I'm a fan of Richard Williams' animations, having grown up watching The Thief and the Cobbler, which is one of my favorite films to this day. My search for more of his work eventually led me to this movie just a couple of weeks ago. As a grad student currently living over 500 miles away from all of my friends and family, the stress and loneliness has been getting to me lately, but hearing this song for the first time was such a relief. It really has cheered me up and given me hope during this time in my life. The innocence and sincere affection portrayed in this scene continues to be a profound comfort to me and reminds me that I have people back home who love me and that I'll see them again soon.
This was my favorite movie as a kid. When I was little, my mom decorated my room Raggedy Anne and Andy themed. I was also Raggedy Anne for Halloween. I know every song in this movie and still sing them. 😭👌🏼💕

I remember watching this on tv many years ago (probably around the early 1980s). I was liking the movie but once this song came on, I fell in love with it. It reminded me the kind of relationship my sister (the youngest and only girl in the family), and I once had. Out of her 4 older brothers which includes myself (I am the middle), we were the closest. Don't get me wrong, we still see each other, but we're not as close as we once were.
I wanna dedicate this song to my sister but I'm afraid people will take it the wrong way. But it is definitely a song from sibling to sibling. And nothing means more to me in the world than my sister.
Guys its not that hard to understand. Yes, they have been portrayed as a couple. No, that doesn't mean they are one in this movie. Their relationship through the years varied, and has evolved. While originally they weren't related, they also were not a couple. Then in a few animated shorts (not produced by the owners of the Raggedies,) they were a couple. But as time went on they evolved to be portrayed as siblings. They are canonically siblings in this movie and other later raggedy media. Just because they have a duet does not mean they are in love. If you want to portray it that way, fine. But don't portray both that they are siblings and are a couple at the same time. Incest is not very raggedy ann-esque and just plain gross. I don't understand why some people think all cute lovey duets have to be strictly romantic-- sibling love is a very real and very wholesome thing, and I think we should just let the song be as intended. Joe Raposo write this to be a sibling duet. Not a romantic duet. Again, if you want to interpret it as romantic, fine. But please keep the incest out of it-- it's still just weird since they call each other brother and sister in this movie. And for goodness sakes, don't argue with people who interpret them as siblings about it!! Let us have our wholesome innocent fun with this adorable family.
@@gwynfromRARE Yeah, in the context of the movie is very awkard. But they don't have a oficial relationship, so I'm think that is a free interpretation.

This was one of those songs that while still with my ex I considered "our song". I don't even care if this is pretty much written for the wrong type of characters. (Seriously, this sounds like a love ballad) It's downright beautiful and definately one of the film's highlights.
hinata: As Ann herself says later, "I am just a little rag doll with a little candy heart". And I know they were sewn from the same fabric because both were made to be a pair of dolls for the REAL Marcella (too bad Marcella Gruelle--whose family wrote the books and made the dolls--died at 13) & they were said to be brother and sister, and yet, as this film & a Fliesher cartoon shows, they act like solemates more than they act like bro/sis.
1. Ann and Andy are siblings 2. They are caring for one another because they are family 3. It applies to any relationship - platonic or romantic 4. This song is so good and cute 5. ANDYS VOICE AAAA SO AMAZING 👏
Leaving me as an only child to come up with my own answers. In the Halloween special, they never once call each other brother or sister, nor do they do anything that seems weird, but because of all of it, when I was a kid, I just figured they were good friends or something, completely unrelated. lol
I'm curious if anyone would know where to find sheet music or chords for this song. A friend and I want to learn it as a duet and it seems impossible to track down (even on an obscurities-collecting place like the internet). Thanks if anyone knows.
You think this is terribly romantic, check out the 1942 cartoon. Raggedy Ann almost dies because Andy isn't by her side. And I don't know where America got the idea that they are siblings because their creator never said they were.
@Ab082991 well technically since they're dolls they were made, not born, so they dont really have parents so they cant really be siblings. And even the creator said that they were made for each other :3
I love this song, but i guess it things like this that always confuses people into thinking that they're a couple instead of brother and sister. everytime I draw andy someone says thats
lyrics: times where your real down and low every lonely place i go there’s a way i always know we’re always together paper daisies to explain sunshine always follows rain and a heart that’s sweet and true will help us whether the weather that’s what keeps us together candy hearts and paper flowers sunshine days and skies of blue mimes and songs we sing for hours words to say i love you true times get bad then i worry how i’ll ever see it through but candy hearts and paper flowers will always keep me close to you will always keep me close to you
guevashin: Johnny Gruelle created the characters. The Fleischer brothers just took creative licensing when they created their cartoon, as evidenced by The Camel With Wrinkled Knees, who was always made out of blue tattered materials, as opposed to the color-of-poo brown he was drawn in for the Fleischer cartoon.

I almost wanted to run
From it
If it tormented me in real life my brother will call god and his angels would beat it back
If it relieved it’s self like pooping all over me and reggedy Andy we’d throw up
Ann would say that vile act was dusting sick and gross

Andy: the name is prince Andy of the THUNDERCATS secretly
I know there father is Claudius a king of the THUNDERCATS since
Andy will support lion o s coronation
Andy's voice, my God! It's making me swoon.
me too
This movie seriously goes down as one of the best things I have even watched in my life.
I want there to be a broadway musical based on this!
Clowny Moose Bean there was. It bombed.
There was but they made it about a girl who is dying of cancer or something
@@cecilyerker That's because the real Marcella Gruelle, for whom the stories were written, did die young at age 13 from complications related to smallpox, so the musical made everything, as strange as it all was, a byproduct of Marcella's tragically deteriorating mind.
@@TherealRNOwwfpooh I might have thrown new thundera under my room when it’s upgraded
It’s the new city and new home of Andy and Ann
Ann will guard the castle with Andy since they know king lion o is their king

MY HEART IS MELTING MY GOD ANDYS VOICE LOL
andy is lion os captian of the thundarian army
well i have him in my room looking after the lord of the thundercats
if i upgrade my room new thundera would be his residence in 2022 on earth after thundera was destroyed
oh gosh i LOVE Andys voice. on the lower notes its like ahhhhhhhhhhh... amazing!
I'm home with a sore jaw preparing for an emergency root canal tomorrow just after having a cold, and because I'm so sore, worried about how to pay for it, lost job hours etc. I put this song in my iPhone on repeat to help ease myself and help me feel better.
It works. :)
I was assaulted in 2018 this makes me feel better
That man is In prison
I was attacked by a mentally ill Pearson
R.I.P Mark Baker 💓💓😔😔
I remember watching this on tv many years ago (probably around the early 1980s). I was liking the movie but once this song came on, I fell in love with it. It reminded me the kind of relationship my sister (the youngest and only girl in the family), and I once had. Out of her 4 older brothers which includes myself (I am the middle), we were the closest. Don't get me wrong, we still see each other, but we're not as close as we once were.
THIS SONG = RELATIONSHIP GOALS.
That’s so adorable. They’re both so pure and lovely. I want to hug Ann and Andy so bad 🥺🥰💞
I love this song .This song reminds me of my boyfriend and I. I have always love Raggedy Ann and Andy ever since I was a kid.
WE GON BE CRYING WITH THIS ONE💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
WE COMFORTING OUR SIBLINGS WITH THIS ONE🗣🗣🔥🔥💯💯
Thanks for coming into my life, Raggedy Ann and Andy. Your candy hearts and paper flowers helps me through all thr troubles of being a teenager!
This was the most adorable video ever
I really wish all the cartoons of raggedy
Ann and Andy were a couple forever😳😆😄😝😍💏
Antonette Beserra They're siblings in this movie.
Aww, that's so romantic!
I've always been a sucker for Woody Allen movies.
I wanna dedicate this song to my sister but I'm afraid people will take it the wrong way. But it is definitely a song from sibling to sibling. And nothing means more to me in the world than my sister.
I am so in love, that I woke up this morning and just had this song playing in my head.
Technically, Raggedy Ann and Andy was made in the same fabric. We can portray they How we want (Sorry for errors, I'm not fluent).
@@MF-yz3io Still, when portraying them as a couple *in the context of this movie* it is... kind of gross. :)
@@gwynfromRARE Yeah, in the context of the movie is very awkard. But they don't have a oficial relationship, so I'm think that is a free interpretation.
@@MF-yz3io yup. fine by me as long as it's not the movie universe (or other media where they are siblings.) The main point of this was that Candy Hearts shouldn't be used to justify that they're a couple
Well everyone is simping over Andy’s voice
XD I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS MYSELF
oh dear 4 people don't have a candy heart and have never got paper flowers :( xxxx
It's so cute!
I miss my brother Nicholas Charles Kiser this song is for you Nicholas I miss you and I love you so much and I think about you everyday love, your baby sister Niki

awww they are so adorable!!!!! :)
I LOVE THIS SONG... I used to have a home made raggedy Ann doll and I would make her sing this song again and again... great movie :)
makes me wish I didn't have to grow up :(
i am a simp for reggedy andy :D
Candy Hearts '' Omg this is officially stuck in my head But I'm glad it is! :) Btw who is watching in 2017??! I am! :D
Fun Fact: Rageddy Ann's voice is, if I remember correctly, Frenchie from Grease.
This song makes my heart melt
the ending when they sang this song, I cried also, it was so sweet when they sang the last bit to the Camel
The lizards attack the camel
Andy pulls out his weapon
Ann : fires bow and arrow
Lion o : Thunder thunder thunder THUNDERCATS hoooooooo!!!!!!
The eye brights the night sky
The pirates wearing the symbol they look up with the rest of the THUNDERCATS their eyes glow and they said oh my ann and Andy and the camel are in danger
Cheetara tygera wilykit wilykat ran with panthro with the troops of the thunderian army Andy took the lead
he stabbed one in the eye with his spear he took it out
tygera fired his gun at the lizards
Cheetara: GRAAAAAAH WACKS STAFF AT THE LIZZARDS
wilykit : throws capsules
Wilykat: throws capsules they explode them
They defeated the army of lizards and the ambush is over
The cats lair is in the backyard of Marcella’s house
Andy: enters the cats lair as head captain of the thunderian army
Every member screamed THUNDERCATS hoo!
Snarf: what are we waiting for
Lion o to celebrate our victory over the mutants
:D
Everyone went to the kitchen and they ate there
Damn his voice is giving me chills
Me, too.
wow, lots of old memories of this move! its been over 20 years!
and Andy still seems so sweet even now that Im an adult :P
andys voice sends chils down my spine XD
OMG!!!!!! My tape disappeared ages ago. I have missed this movie soooooooo much. Thanks for the Warm Fuzzie feeling my heart has. PS If I ever get married I want this song for my first dance.
Aw my mom and I used to sing this song when I was little XD
ugh, i watched this religiously when i was little... and i recently saw it again, and i remember every song, word and lyric through the whole movie.
Andy has an amszing singing voice .
But Every time he sings I melt
I'm just glad I was able to find this movie on DVD.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE ESPECIALLY THIS SONG :D
YAAAY, Candy Hearts and Paper Flowers! My fave song from the movie! I haven't heard this since our tape of the movie died! Thanks so much for posting it!
OMG! Thanks so much for posting this. I had this record album as a kid. I bought it after seeing the movie at the theater with my mom. I still sing this song in my head occasionally, but NEVER THOUGHT I'd see this clip again. OH THANK U, THANK U, THANK U!!!
oh my gosh, this song gets stuck in my head so often, and i could not find out where i remembered it from til i finally typed in it youtube. thank you for posting this. nostalgia gets the best of me sometimes
Andy’s voice sends chills down my spine
XD I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS
This was one of those songs that while still with my ex I considered "our song". I don't even care if this is pretty much written for the wrong type of characters. (Seriously, this sounds like a love ballad) It's downright beautiful and definately one of the film's highlights.
You guys are all welcome. I'm glad I could share it with you. One of my most wonderful childhood memories was listening to this album over and over!
hinata: As Ann herself says later, "I am just a little rag doll with a little candy heart".
I remember Andrea Mcardle singing this on the Mike Douglas Show back n the 70's
For as trippy and effing bizarre as this film is, I gotta say, this is a pretty nice little song.
"oh andrew, that's nice..." XD
this song is so cute and sweet, but....im seriously questioning their relationship, not gonna lie :S
Ok the guy who does andys voice ;) my hart melts allot XD I'm not lying to u my hart melts 13 times when I watch this XD
Thanks if anyone knows.
its cute.
That is so sweet and beautiful. And just by wanting to do that I know you will meet the perfect woman to sing it to.
Much love!
I. LOVED. THIS. VIDEO. When I was little I would watch this movie 6-7 times a day, right in a row! Such great memories. I love this song. :)
okay... wait! I didn't just imagine this?
hinata: They're made from the same fabric, with the only difference being that Ann has a little candy heart & Andy has a paper flower.
This remaind me at "there's a ligth" form RHPS for some reason. 💙
I never minded that they were siblings, but the amount of adorable love made me wish that they weren't.
You think this is terribly romantic, check out the 1942 cartoon. Raggedy Ann almost dies because Andy isn't by her side. And I don't know where America got the idea that they are siblings because their creator never said they were.
You wish
Really check out the 1940 carton
If I remember correctly, the author said they were made from the same rags so people assumed they were related
WAIT.... Their Brother AND SISTER.... :( AWWWW I mean its so cute but I wish they were not! :0
And after listening to this again, I am sobbing like a little child at your comment. In a good way.
I sing this song to make my friends to make them feel better and to let them know how much they really mean to me
@Ab082991 well technically since they're dolls they were made, not born, so they dont really have parents so they cant really be siblings. And even the creator said that they were made for each other :3
Mr.Nightmare brought me here because of The Greedy scene.
demonndays same
Mr Nightmare?
First, I saw your Wander icon. Then I read the comment in Jack McBrayer's voice. :D
I love this song, but i guess it things like this that always confuses people into thinking that they're a couple instead of brother and sister. everytime I draw andy someone says thats
Whoever is the voice of Andy was a good choice he really has a nice voice
Best sibling relationship ever ❤.
lyrics:
times where your real down and low
every lonely place i go
there’s a way i always know
we’re always together
paper daisies to explain
sunshine always follows rain
and a heart that’s sweet and true
will help us whether the weather
that’s what keeps us together
candy hearts and paper flowers
sunshine days and skies of blue
mimes and songs we sing for hours
words to say i love you true
times get bad then i worry
how i’ll ever see it through
but candy hearts and paper flowers
will always keep me close to you
will always keep me close to you
Joe Raposo is the composer on Sesame Street. Come to think of it this does kind of sound like something you'd hear on Sesame Street.
i like andy and ann being silbings for half of the movie in the begining, middle and end.
guevashin: Johnny Gruelle created the characters. The Fleischer brothers just took creative licensing when they created their cartoon, as evidenced by The Camel With Wrinkled Knees, who was always made out of blue tattered materials, as opposed to the color-of-poo brown he was drawn in for the Fleischer cartoon.
The 70's dosen't seem so bad now after that, did they ?
