      What's actually funny and terrorizing at the same time is not one of these rich actor's give a toss about changing their own narasasitic lives to reduce their own environmental footprints but heap that full responsibility all onto the "little people" pedestrian public. It's never there Hollywood royalty that morphed the mentality and psychological aspects of consumerism into the fabric of society and culture for serving their own bottom line, but they get to use their art to absolve their guilt by pretending they care. The "oh so not 100%" debate in the White House cleverly gets across the point that you don't need to be 100% certain about climate change if even there is a 90% chance of a catastrophic outcome.

      Exactly, during the pandemic true scientists had to scream their lungs out, they got demoted in many areas of the world because they did not let the 10 or so Big Pharma companies that sit at WHO have their unique version of the truth on vaccines and medical treatments. Some of them received death threats. And just like in the film, everyone was being indoctrinated through Woke ideology and media opinion-shaping. It is incredible how terrifyingly accurate the film is in its depiction. But what is satisfying in the film is that no media lies can cover up the fact that if you look up the meteorite is there, whereas in real life they always manage to kind of make things disappear or appear differently to what they really are, which is such an annoying habbbit for anyone who actually follows real science. Just to see that TH-cam Covid medical guidelines that state that you will get censured if you produce any science that contredicts WHO was terrifying and shocking. I hope the film contributes to take people out of their lethargy.

    This movie is great too in that it focuses a lot on moving the narrative from individual blame to systemic issues. Those with the greatest political/financial power are those who can truly help and make crucial changes but, much like in the movie, they often turn their backs in favour of personal growth / wealth while diverting and deflecting any and every ounce of responsibility onto the individual. I like that Leo acknowledged that in this interview and that the movie truly focuses on that as well. Individual people can make a difference but the “powers that be” need to act & soon. Blaming the individual citizen does nothing but allow those in power to keep getting away with their self-serving despicable actions and enables their ability to deflect responsibility

      @daisy8418 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@martinshannon-hayes1418 it only did because of the current circumstances (we’re living in the middle of a pandemic). It therefore reminded people that the public don’t seem to care about unprecedented times because they are consumed by the media. This movie therefore seemed like a good concept but was a perfect example of bad execution, that is over hyped and only got the media’s initial attention due to the famous actors in it. I think there are many low budgeted movies, where the actors need more credit. Such as, Julia garner, Andrew Garfield, and Robert Pattison who have worked really hard and whose performances have completely blown me away. People like them deserve Oscar nominations, as apposed to people who were handed a part over there popularity.

    The movie’s theme of a mass media distracting us from the catastrophe of climate change is obviously incredibly important and tough to tackle in a narrative film. While I liked the film a lot and am in awe of all folks involved + their dedication (including of course the great David Sirota!!!) I have serious doubts if the message lands in a way with enough people to push for a mass movement that still has not materialized. I am not a cynic. I am hopeful. I am 51 & I see amazing sense of agency & passion in young folks despite the real world feeling so bleak for all of us, especially them. I am just trying to express doubts that a glossy visual medium can make a difference. I think documentary and other forms of non-fiction formats can do it better. Just my two cents. And believe me: I love satire. “Network” is my fave, thematically elated of course. Anyways: I applaud the team. We are all trying our best!!! Let’s keep doing it!

    Jonah makes an important point about people like him not knowing about the crisis. This points just shows that these things shouldn't be put on regular people. In matters like these we should put the decision making to our scientist and make it uber illegal for scientist to take money from companies when referring to scientific facts. If they do then they should be fined and/or out in jail.

    Brilliant film. Watched it twice. Don't ask me why, because it was terrifying, tragic and perfectly nuanced for where we are, where we've been for far too long about climate change. A friend took me to a meeting of international climate scientists in 1988. Everything they predicted is happening. The morning after tRump was elected I woke up and couldn't catch my breath. I am devastated for young people. Having said all of that, thank you for the jokes along the way.

He has such a distinctive face yet not once throughout the movie did I think: "there's Leonardo Dicaprio" - he WAS the professor.
