I was here in April 2022. I wore shorts for the hike out whereas I wore full compression leggings on the 1st day, big mistake cos I had more or less 30 leech bites. I remember the leeches attacked us endlessly at the log where you all also stopped. Enjoyable trip but as you said it was really humid. I'm sure you also saw the numerous piles of elephant dung in various stages of decay from green to black along the track both going in and out. That gave a thrill for me never knowing if we'll bump into the pachyderms. My hiking buddy measured the distance with his Garmin GPS Unit, it was 12 km in and 9km out.
Oh wow, 30 leech bites sounds awful and epic at the same time! I can't imagine the itch you had to endure the following weeks after that. You're a leech attack survivor! And yes despite the humidity, it was truly a good experience to have experienced this rainforest. 12km in, 9km out. Thanks for the info!
TQ for bringing back memories. I was there in the 70s, now probably too old to do it but really a deja vu for me. I guess at a senior age, car camping is at best I can do, hopefully for a few more years. Like they say, enjoy while you can and thanks again
Happy to know the videos brought back fond memories of your past adventures! Senior or not senior, once a nature lover, forever a nature lover. It's amazing you are still camping and living your life to the fullest :)
I saw some guides and seniors in my hiking club wearing adidas kampung for trekking. I tried wearing it for a while but the soles are a bit on the hard side making it less flexible walking on curvy rocks and slopes. In the end I choose to wear simple sandals (branded ones) with strings for hiking. They are soft and flexible to walk on…but the best thing about sandals is that they allow my feet to feel the sands while walking on streams as well as spotting leeches on my feet a mile away😝😝
I guess the Adidas Kampung has got its pros and cons. I personally think it is great and super functional for such a cheap product. Amazing grip on surfaces especially mud. But have to add insoles to thicken the base!
@@JunOutdoors Yup..last time I bought them it was at RM10. To be frank I’m not that scared of slipping in the mud. The scariest part about hiking is slipping while walking on rocks while crossing a stream/ river.
lol , first time hearing adidas kampung , had to search it , anyway last time adidas does make these shoes not full rubber but water sport shoes but now seem like they stop making it, best jungle trekker for me
Brilliant once again. I'd looked forward to part 2 and wasn't disappointed :-) Awesome...definitely wanna go back. Nice touch with the 'Adidas kampung', had me in stitches every time you mentioned them ! Thanks so much for sharing this 2 part adventure. 👍👍
Wow another great video, Thank You very much for the awesome sharing Went to Tmn Negara the very firstime in 1984, a 3d2n trip, don't think Jun was even born yet, hihihi Err wondering y need to carry so much drinking water(notice it on parts 1), yr campsite (gua) just beside a stream, filter not ok meh ?? Guess your backbag got to be 15kg+++, huhhh berat woo ! N u only go for a short 2d1n trip ! The boat ride should be an exciting journey if during dry season where one hv to get down n push/pull the boat on certain swallow parts U should try Tahan hike, M2M or M2K/K2M, that would be a wonderful experience
The backpack was indeed at least 10kg! Broke all our backs. I also thought the water was abit of an overkill, but was indeed necessary cause the humidity was crazy and we sweat so much and had to keep ourselves hydrated. It was a trek package, so Jun ikut saja! Wow 1984, uncle must have had so much experience!
Truly a great adventure Jun. Thank you for sharing with us your experience. Great effort in doing the filming as well. In an environment like that, anything goes even a can of sardines can fulfil your appetite.
Cannabis stir-fried... talk about 5 stars meal... Hmm, Yummy... Elephant poop aroma therapy is just out of this world...but hope they don't roam in the middle of the night. I heard from friends who used to be in the logging business, elephant poop means RUN!!! Congratulations on completing the 2 days 1 night hike or shall we say Suana?
Yea, come to think of it, perhaps we hikers were intruding the wild elephants homes. I felt kinda guilty and even had the thought of 'what if the elephants came back to mark their territory and stomp on all of us while we're asleep'? haha.
Glad you enjoyed the video! This hike & camp package is about RM230-250 but it is best to ask the operator directly as the price changes every now and then. I've left the contact number in the video description! :)
Hi, I am not entirely sure about the cooking part, but one thing for sure, it is compulsory to hire a guide to enter Taman Negara, as it is a protected area
Good question. Mixed feelings in the answer. Unfortunately there is a small corner in this cave where hikers pee, and the cleanliness isn't maintained well. It is expected when there is such large volume of hikers almost on a daily basis. My personal take on this is, it's always best to leave no trace by walking slightly further out to settle our business in the forest ground instead :)

That's awful. Did you get the leeches with the leggings or the shorts?
Best tido dlm gua sejuk...
Awesome!
Cracked me up seeing your Adidas Kampung (the best👍) came off, stuck in the mud.
.....and yelled out "Alamak~"
The grip was so good that it gripped the mud better than my own foot!
Super adidas kampung..hihi.

4th Aprub... Uy... Sir Jun... meron ka po bagong voice-over!!!
This is fun
21:20 Everyone's bags must be waterproofed I suppose?
Head end of the boat has the most protection from the water, actually. But for insurance, we put raincovers over our bags !

Hi jun… nice video..how do u engage this trip? Can u share with me? Im planing to go this sept..
Hey there, I have shared the contact details of the trek operator in my video description. Can give them a call :)
May i know what kind of shoes you would recommend for this kind of trail?
Any trail running shoes with good grip, or rubber shoes would be good.
👍
The Adidas Kampung is doing well
Indeed!
berapa kos semua ni Jun ?
Hi, all in hike and camp package lebih kurang 200+ tapi boleh cuba contact number yg I dah share kat video description untuk harga terkini :)
How to pee & poop in the cave?
If there’s a wee, there’s a way lol
Were there toilets at the cave?tq

Oh my, they pee in the cave. Takde bau ke Jun?
@@nuuninor5143 fortunately it's a huge cave. The 'peeing' corner is quite a distance away so no smell.
Syok tido dalam gua
Iyya memang syok, cuma agak bising sebab ramai orang :(
@@JunOutdoors biasalah tu..kalau dah ramai
I think the camp operator kena control the number of people staying at the cave, so that the areas will be preserved and not polluted or vandalised.
@@nuuninor5143 Indeed, totally agree with you.
