I love how Jeff maintains a healthy balance between this hobby and his family life.
He could've easily made this HIS space, but he decided to keep his family the priority and make this a space for everybody to enjoy.
Family first, always!
A family cinema room would have worked too.
I like the new Jeff. It’s easy in this hobby to obsess and let the OCD take the wheel thus draining all of the fun out of it (I would assume 1000 times easier when you are running a successful channel). Appreciating your situation and the fact that we are blessed to be able to have these collections, equipment and amazing ways to enjoy our movies at home is where it’s at.
Absolutely. Just happy to be able to enjoy these amazing movies at home with such awesome technology. There’s never been a better time to watch movies at your house!
@@JeffRauseo Indeed. On that “Amazing movies” note, excuse me while I retire into my movie room to watch “Cutthroat Island”🤣
@@JeffRauseoearly 2000s was
Personally I find your home theater relatable, not everyone has a budget of $30 thousands to build home theater. Jeff as long as you and your family happy with it that’s all that matters. Ignore what other people say
You could easily put overheads in the drop ceiling for heights. Believe me, it makes a difference. Things will actually be above you and it’s way more immersive. I have four overheads, but having at least two in the ceiling is very noticeable.
For my TV, I cut access outlets in the drywall behind the TV and behind the entertainment stand. Then you can run all your power and hdmi cables in the wall. It makes it look nice and clean and you don’t have that strip covering on the wall. It’s a pretty easy mod as well.
I would still lower the rears some, high enough where the kids can’t reach, but you already know. lol
Still a nice home theater you have.
The best set up to watch a film on is the one you have, I grew up poor and didn't get a TV till I was around 13, when I did it was a small portable piece of junk, the signal was so bad that I could only get 2 channels to partially work and both were fuzzy and black and white, after getting it working as best I could one of the channels started to air "Predator" which I sat and enjoyed, now every time I get a new piece of tech I sit and watch that film and enjoy it all over again whilst appreciating what I have.
It is amazing how bright it is even with that color, it could feel cold and enclosed but it looks warm and bigger. It's nice.
You did something many home movie lovers forget about....painting the walls a dark mostly neutral color to prevent/lessen light spill on screen that lessens contrast and takes away some of the inherent color and contrast quality of modern TVs. Sitting 10 feet from a 65 inch screen is close to canceling 4k image advantage vs 1080 hd. Eventually lowering tv a good idea, get if farther away from white ceiling along with more natural/optimum viewing angle. Eight feet viewing distance is better for sure. My room setup is similar to yours, i.e. couch seating against wall, tv opposite wall, so eventually I moved couch about 3 feet away from wall and closer to screen, which left enough space to easily walk behind, and now enjoy full 4k experience. Excellent tour, thanks Jeff!
You put it perfectly. With a 65” this high and sitting this far away from the screen @Jeff Rauseo gets none of the advantages of 4K. Which is a pity with such an amazing collection.
But it is a problem with many “collectors”, they invest most of their money in lots and lots of media.
Instead they should invest in proper equipment and wiring to watch and listen to it, and then having a proper space to set it up the right way.
Top tip from a fellow home theater enthusiast…. Use brackets to precisely aim speakers toward the main listening position instead of attaching directly to wall. The difference in sound improvement is astonishing.
I know - SVS recommended the same, but I just wanted to keep it clean and I didn’t have space for the brackets on the right side
Yeah, I mean this way the rear speakers are pointing more towards the TV than the actual listener. Probably the sound comes more from the front than the back.
If mines are a few degrees wrongly aligned (e.g. because I slightly moved then while cleaning), I instantly notice it during the next movie. 10° of angle movement make the sound from „where is it“ to „wow, I can feel it“. Can‘t imagine that those rear speakers come even close to fulfilling their potential. There are easy ways to fix this, even with those walls, e.gy, mounting/hanging them to/from the ceiling. Still kids friendly.
Anyway, get creative Jeff (when you find the time), it‘s worth it! 😛
@@user-sr2wv1ol6e I totally agree with you. Speaker placement and alignment make a big difference.
@@JeffRauseo on Amazon, I got BS-218pro Universal Speaker Wall Mount for my surround speakers. They work well in my bed room for the surrounds and their color would blend in with your wall. They twist towards the listening area and are easy to adj them to angle slightly down and slightly away from wall. They're going for around $30 and are good quality.
Glad to see that we have the same tv 😉
Everybody's setup is different, just do what you can do and enjoy!!!
Love seeing other folks' setups - especially movie nuts like me! Thanks for sharing all the details, Jeff! New room looks great!
We need to see your setup, Jon! Did you get a 4K OLED yet, or are you still on an HD TV?
@@ScottSullivanTV my TV is 14 years old 🤣
@@Jogwheel Love it! No shame. And I’m sure it’s plasma (which they don’t make anymore), so that’s still better than standard LED imo. I remember a loooonnnngg time ago when you mentioned using an “HD TV”. Just curious if you ever upgraded from then.
@@ScottSullivanTV Nah, it's actually an LED. Sony Bravia. Was best in class when I bought it in 2010. Starting to show its age now with some dead pixels, ghosting on blue colors, and some fogginess with dark areas. But... it works!
The dark wall color is such a relatively cheap but effective home theater upgrade. Looks good!
Beautiful room, great job. I love how it’s toys for babies on one end, and horror movie posters at the other end! lol! The one thing I would have done differently is the screen. I’m old school…. Movie room = projector (and TV = TV room). The texture, screen size, even the slight background noise is part of my cinema experience! Anyway, congrats and enjoy your great room
Continue to be a representative of technology that enhances physical media. Thanks . Seriously.
that is one hell of a basement
Man, that looks perfect for me
I love the housing for the wires running straight to the 4K TV. All the wiring is Clean, Gratz on the New Room Man.
Thank you! I took my time and wanted to do it right.
Maybe just fish the walls. It’s actually not that hard. I do low voltage for a living , so every TV in my house is hidden in the walls.
@@GamezGuru1agree, quite distracting and an easy fix. But he already said that he has to fix that ;)
great paint choice because i painted my front room a year and half ago this same color for better movie enjoying while watching movies on my lg 55 inch with soundbar and the paint color is called patio stone
You have a really nice movie room and space.
it looks great Jeff, good work
Looking great Jeff! Very well done.
Nice oled similar space in my basement, except a little more man cave, but I'm really into that color
Watching films can be a personal experience, but most are best viewed as a group (a shared experience). You’ve made an awesome space for you and your family and friends to enjoy together, Jeff. That’s what matters most and I love your more recent tone you’ve taken on your channel. Thanks, and keep up the awesome work!
I was looking for a paint colour for the home theatre in my new house. Cracked pepper might be it!
i love that you’re not itching to upgrade some of your equipment! if it works it works! c2 isn’t old at all but not upgrading to a slightly newer c3 just shows that it’s not all about new new new!
Enjoy my friend really like what you have done and achieved over the years, keep it up and always stay safe.
For sure make the Home Office tour!
I needed this message today! Love your attitude and excitement for your new space! As a family man myself with 3 young kids I get the sacrifices you have to make in order to accommodate everyone. Being happy with what you can do is so important. Makes me appreciate my set up and tells me to be content even though I too know I could do some things better if I had my own dedicated space. Thanks for sharing this.
Looks amazing, and it probably sounds even better!
Love the energy and the attitude of this video.
I couldn't even JEFF to this. I RAUSEOD IMMEDIATELY. Clean up on aisle, MY PANTS AT HOME
Once upon a time I mounted my tv just like your height. After countless hours of movie watching, one day my neck experienced pain, which took me two years physio and other treatment to get rid of the pain. Big lesson learned. So be careful my friend.
Yeah it's exhausting and uncomfortable having to look up at a screen for an extended period of time. The recommended viewing height is there for a reason.
I like the wall color and carpets. Looks good.
Setup looks good but I would bring the mount down, it’s def worth it.
Well done Jeff for maximising your basement space and sharing this Home Theater your with us. 🙏🏻
Awesome- thank you for sharing you setup Jeff.
Very clean Jeff, looks great and strikes a good balance between movie enthusiast and family man!
Always an inspiration. Thanks for all you do!
Very cool update Jeff. I have a single SVS PB3000 managing the bass in my set up and even after a year of use it still manages to scare the hell out of me when it stretches its legs.
I converted a basement bedroom into a theater. I have a BenQ 4K projector and a Elite Screens 100" screen. I bought a used AVR and am still using my 20 year old Cerwin Vega speakers for the front, center and sub. My Atmos and rears are in no name in ceiling speakers. I love what I've built.
I would like to see a tour of your office bro, sounds cool
Had to do the baby gate too
Nice work Jeff I’m definitely digging the movie room/ family area. Thanks for sharing this with us 😊
Looks great! I prefer a smaller cinema space.
One day I'm getting those shelves! Mounting on the wall saves so much space. My room isn't perfect either & we just gotta do what we can.
Room looks great. One thing that is missing , get a dust cloth lol :)
Oh dude for sure. I just got done putting in some extra stuff on the walls and it got dirty and dusty again
This gives me serious inspiration for my own setup!
Good work Jeff.
Wonderful set up, enjoyed watching thank you.
Looks fantastic!
Great video. Keep up the awesome work! :)
Looks great Jeff!
I love your set up!
Thanks for sharing your home movie setup, I would suggest to put your front channels LR on speaker stand and corner them to a 45 degree facing you, also place one of your subs to the back on the left. Your rears are in a bad place or you can place them facing you with a mount to a 45 downward. Your tv needs to be more to an eye level your EYES will appreciated and no, don’t downgrade your tv.
Nice set up Jeff! All looks great!
👍 Nice system and a great collection. Good to hear how SVS helped out with setup.
Fantastic video and awesome setup and can’t wait for the new podcast coming! Keep up the fantastic work and keep the amazing content coming please Jeff!
looks really good!
love the colour very nice
Love this and thank you!👍
It's definitely a nice little setup.
Your screening space looks great
awesome man!
Looking good, man -- well done!
Awesome media room. Must feel great to have that perfect setup you were looking for. Love that you're doing more of a variety in your content...you previously said you were gonna start adding in deep dives into some of your favorite films. Still planning on doing that?
Very Impressive!!!!
Room looks good Jeff! Well done.
Looks great! 👍🏼
Beautiful job, brother.
Looks great, nice job 👍🏻
Great setup and great attitude. I feel the same. You make the best of what you have and as long as you are happy… it’s a win. And eventually the area will evolve. So glad I came across your video.
Thanks for watching! I agree - you do what you can for your family and situation and be happy with what you have!
I’m commented before I even watch, all your shelves are gone with the cool memorabilia on top!
They’re in my office!
nice space Jeff!!!
Nice job on your home theater, Jeff.
This is awesome!
As someone with a kid (and another on the way) this helped! Ty
I leave all of my media ?(movies, CDs) in another room, which is also my computer room. The only media you need in your media room is what you're playing at the moment. I know space can be s problem. Also like the fact that you hang onto gear that doesn't need replacing.
Leaves more money for movies!😊
Nice setup
I like the new room, and yes a office tour would be cool
Nice little setup!
Awesome video!!
Nice job, Jeff.
I work from home too. My computer monitor is also my screening area lol. With headphones. Its cool though, it works for me! Love the setup, thanks for sharing Jeff!
Looks good 👍
Beautiful equipment 👍👍👌👌
Lower the TV. Other than that’s it’s awesome!
I love your content sir, I know you are working with limited space, but I highly recommend you get some separation on the front left and right speakers. The panning effect you get from a wider soundstage makes a difference. You basically got a soundbar there 😂. And you know...the TV is too high when it's closer to your height than the left and right fronts haha. No dis respect at all, just think it could be an even better sounding space. Looks nice and cozy for the family!
Looks great Jeff. Would like to see a tour of your office.
Looks great Jeff! I had a similar situation in my screen space where the room isnt very wide. I was able to maximize screen size by using in-wall speakers and an acoustically transparent screen. I think you could do the same and get a 100" screen there with a UST projector. Put left, right, and center in-wallnand hidden. It would also be even more clean looking
Oleds are in 77 inches, I suggest 77 G3 or G4 when later price drops
Great video! I recently bought a 55 inch C2 OLED. I’ve been knitting kicking myself recently for not getting 65 but it’s what I could afford at the time. I appreciate what you said about doing what you can to fit your situation, good reminder to be thankful what I have.
get a 75 inch at least. 65 is tiny.
@@shaneth138 Or he could save a few hundred dollars and move his sofa 2 foot closer to his TV.
@@shaneth13865 inch isn’t tiny.
I was glad I spent the extra $300 to get the 65" C1 OLED. I was coming from a low end 55" 4k TV. I love having the extra size but didn't want to spend $800 more to get the 77". lol
similar layout to mine which is also a family room where I have an open space/room to the left so I have my rear surrounds at just above ear height facing the seating area but the left one is twice as far away as the right one however with some volume adjustments I’ve got it to sound as good as I can and I’m pretty happy!
I’d also love to have in ceiling Atmos speakers rather then front heights which I don’t feel ass much in the way of Atmos but we don’t all have a dedicated room and budget to make a perfect home cinema.
This is an amazing space man! I have a theater that is almost identical in size, dual svs sb2000's, and some 20 year old paradigm speakers (they will be replaced in time, but home theater is a marathon not a sprint lol)
Thanks for the tour bro
Yea I could definitely see a 75-77” tv there, you have the room it looks like. I sit 9-10’ from my 75” Sony and am planning to go to the 83” LG G4 (when/if the price drops from the current price: $6499), but I’m not in any rush. Hopefully Black Friday will see a nice sale 🤷♂️🤔.
As for your Rears & the idea you had of side SVS Elevations, in that small of a space, I don’t think it’s necessary. My room is just 11x13, so it’s similar. I have my two Rears (SVS Elevations) over the arm rests of my couch aiming towards the MLP, so it works perfectly fine. (My front Elevations are in the same position as yours). - IF you had the option to use that position, it might work great audio wise. But if not, and it all sounds great to you, then that’s all that matters. 👍🏼
Love it!😊
Paint the wire conduits!
Looks great, any reason you didn't paint the white cable shrouds on the wall , it would help make them disappear just that little bit. Love the channel and all the work you put into it 👍
Love your content bro
My Sony 4K player has two HDMI outs (video/audio only). Never thought about splitting them. Now I want to try it. ... J
