The nypd suspended the college requirement in 2000 temporarily. The current mayor wants to get rid of it too. Chicago just got rid of the college requirement. Supreme courts acknowledged departments are allowed to hire lower scoring i.q individuals because higher scoring people "may get bored with policework".
Been going through a lot lately things have been really really bad I just lost my father working on my mental state but what you are talking about is 100% true we got to roll with the punches it's hard as f*** but we got to keep on trucking. I lived in Bed Stuy at Madison and Marcus Garvey around 2008-9, a white boy from Indianapolis/Chicago out of his element. I made the best of it though and found my niche in the neighborhood to a degree. The cops would roll thru and once they sweated me hard, saying 'what are you doing out here? you're the only white person out here.' 'I live right there!' They didn't care. Somehow it was unacceptable for me to be rubbing shoulders with my neighbors. Bullshit. I'm kind of glad to be back in Indianapolis though, NYC didn't agree with me personally. Too expensive, too loud, too crazy for this crazy person. Still glad I got to pack in some experiences while I was there. But much love to you RD! Love the channel and the stories.
Hunts Point was one the worst of the worst. Shootings & murders on the regular. Dope fiends standing on line putting money in thru a hole in the wall of abandoned buildings for blocks. Hunts Point changed big time compared to the eighty’s. Huge upgrade & new buildings replaced the empty lots. From the hill of Spartford all the way to the elevated train tracks off Simpson. You not lying I’ve seen NYPD stop white boys & make them turn right around back into the 6 train. Stay up RD•357.
@@RD-gu3qp my aunt lived 755 Faile st. Hunts Point, babysat us. I would follow her husband every time he copped leaving the house. Once just leaving the spot dope man got assassinated soon of leaving hallway. I was only 10ths old at the time.
Saw bodies dropped myself. But one that stood out most was done in broad day light, Hunts point & Seneca drug dealer killed while waiting in his car then ol boy just ran down Seneca towards the firehouse before Bryant. Bout 1986-87. Different Breeds back then for sure.

It’s funny but NYPD wants college credits but if you apply outside of NYC say Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Westchester County and I think some counties in Long Island, just need High School Diploma . I know because I’ve applied this was around 2000-2006 not sure if it changed since then. What type of camera are you filming with that it shuts off after 30 minutes? No way of changing that in settings? Just wondering I used to film with Sony hi-8 and digital 8 back in the day
Video cameras and still cameras that also shoot video are regulated differently. “The EU classified DSLRs with longer record times as video cameras and levied a tax on them so some manufacturers were reluctant to increase times.”
