Good work, I’ve stumbled upon your battle reenactment videos and I must say, the simple and clear format is welcome. I’ll be looking through your uploads for more.
An excellent and concise description of the battle. As the narrator says, had Graf Spee stayed out of range of the British ships while safely firing at them with her longer range guns, she might have sunk or very badly damaged all three British warships without suffering any damage herself. However, ultimately, she was never going to perfect a getaway: There were too many other British warships hunting her that would have eventually run her down and sunk her. An essential flaw of German naval strategy was sending out only one or two capital ships alone at a time into the Atlantic, which was in effect a British lake dominated by the very many more warships of the Royal Navy. That is what, soon after the loss of Graf Spee, doomed Bismarck, which had set out with only Prinz Eugen. But think of the big picture: Britain so weakened herself by exhausting and bankrupting herself to reduce Germany to rubble that Britain no longer had the strength to hold onto her Empire and lost it, becoming what is now a third-world puppydog vassal of the United States. And Germany(?): It is now the strongest, soundest nation on the planet, before which the other nations of the European Union are on their knees begging Germany for a financial bailout from their fiscal woes. The United States fought WWII to save Russia from Hitler and China from Japan, yet now Russia and China are the greatest enemies of the U.S. Such is human folly.
Small point, but the start silhouette is not Graf Spee but Deutschland…..Graf Spee's forward superstructure was a more forward and massive tower style bridge.
1. Nice video, mate. 2. I noticed barely any popping sounds. Seems like I helped. :-) 3. What I would have liked to see mentioned at the end is why Langsdorff thought he couldn't win. Something like this: "He knew the filter system couldn't be repaired in such short time. With most of his ammunition depleted and brutish intelligence making it appear as though he would be awaited by a formidable fleet he did not want to lose his men in a pointless, unwinnable fight." It just seems like a detail worth mentioning.
Yrs the fleet wad coming, and the Cumberland arrived before the Spee left the port More warship were coming Like Bismarck the british sent all what the had
@SCPF BRASIL The Daily Mail called it a “Pocket Battleship”. The narrator forgot to mention that HMS’s Ajax & Achilles were reinforced by HMS Cumberland, and that the British Embassy instigated a propaganda operation, claiming that HMS’s Hood, Renown and Ark Royal were waiting for Capt. Langsdorff and the Admiral Graf Spee, but the nearest was at Pernambuco, refuelling. Ps DKM was never used in the same way as HMS or USS or HNoMS was.
The Graf Spee definitely could have fired back while retreating, the Graf Spee’s guns had a range of 36.5 km, the Exeter had a range of 28 km, the light cruisers had a range of 23.3 km. If the Graf Spee could get the forward two turrets of the Exeter or otherwise convince it to retreat, within it’s 8.5 km advantage, the Graf Spee would be able to escape to safety. Without the Exeter’s 8 inch guns, continuing chase on the Graf Spee with just 6 inch guns while at a range disadvantage would have been incredibly risky.
Interesting graphics. Key point on your part - why not use your greater range? Captain Langsdorf, while commendable on many levels, made serious errors that cost him his ship. Frankly, entire German WWII naval strategy faulty. Entire effort should have been put into U-Boats. Bismarck, Turpitz, Graf Spee were terrible “return on resources employed”. Spee and Bismarck sunk on first cruise. Turpitz never in any significant battles. Germany had ships - Britain, US, Japan had navies.

Captain Langsdorf : A captain with a sense of honour can not seperate his
own fate from that of his ship
Great video, mate. Love the animations!

He sounds so sad 😥😥
German accents from certain areas sound 'sad' to English speakers. The video is rather good, I thought.
Great video, awasome, best compliments.

More than a detail IMHO. The RN's deception was a critical element of their victory.
The narrator of this video should try doing ASMR videos. He has the soft-spoken voice for them.
What’s with narrator? Did he manage to see 2021?
Good video
DKM Admiral Graf Spee was a pocket Battleship

The Graf spee hasn't any smoke screan... (3:50)
Yes it did a British Harwood recorded it .
River plate ? Silver river.
This damn whistle when he talks and the dang constipation sound !!! I made it a whole 30 seconds before wanting to stab myself in the ears...
No chance to mantein distance
The time was against the Spee. The dogs would follow the Fox until the hunter arrive..

The Cumberland arrived
Wow, you start WW then you sink a ship due to int. law :P
I somehow feel Sad and Depressed after watching this video. I think the Narrator bummed me out.
and now on Sprockets its time to dance
The Royal Navy used Imperial measured weapons not metric
Perhaps you should be awarded something for the gloomiest voice in u-tube

Sometimes unclear voice
speak up man
Bad
it would have been better if you explained the caliber of the guns in inches, unless you don't have any inches.
No, it would not.
At least not for the German ship.
