    The red lights...the snare brushes and reverb guitar...you just know David Lynch finds this so stimulating.

    An artist and his acoustically electrified boat paddle. Both so good and so classic

    My man Tony Scherr on bass. He will never know he's my man..but seeing him play in the Living Room one night in '13 changed my life. Love that guy.

    • @jltrem

      Plays with Bill Frisell as well.

    • @jonathanmtroll
      @jonathanmtroll 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I met Tony in 98 when he was playing bass with the Bill frisell Trio, Sex Mob, John Lurie's Lounge Lizards, Ricky Lee Jones and many others.
      He was also playing guitar with and producing albums for Jesse Harris and the Ferdinandos.
      But the best stuff he's ever done was his own 2 solo records, released on Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley's indie label Smells Like Records.
      The guy can write and play the f*** out of a song. Just ask Norah Jones or Feist or Bonnie Raitt or Ani DiFranco or Willie Nelson.

    i just discovered him. listened to "orange" and now everything else. What an underrated talent. His playing is so lyrical. No flash. just composition and storytelling.

      Check out Bill Frisell like Campilongo, he plays with a very mature style... I love guitarist who just play...who a mature approach like Campilongo

    Such an amzing sound for 3 people, just bass, drums and honest guitar. No effects pedals or anything, just a Tele plugged straight into a Princeton. Utterly superb control too. Reminds me of the extended jams Television used to play.

    Hadn't heard this guy before. He appears to "hear" the guitar in a different way ushering in sounds and concepts not previously attributed to the instrument (like Jimi and Jaco did). It is also obvious that he has the courage to pursue and put forth his own musical vision, something that is never easy.
    I will certainly be listening to him much from now on.

    • @chrispage2782
      @chrispage2782 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      no 1s here totally agree. I know his drummer, Josh, who suggested I drop by to hear Jim. The guy blew me away, and I haven’t really quite figured out WHY yet. He’s amazing, odd, weird, brilliant, riveting. Meh...I’m just going to keep going to see him....

    • @thedevilinthecircuit1414
      @thedevilinthecircuit1414 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, you have heard this guy before. He was on CAKE's 1998 record Prolonging the Magic, and a bunch of other 'name' artists' recordings. Jim's a musical chameleon, heavily influenced by Roy Buchanan, but he plays nothing like Roy. He's also one of the sweetest monsters you'll ever meet.
