As a Catholic.. cradle Catholic-now independent Catholic… the Holy Spirit is speaking through Fr Rohr. Amen! We’re ‘saved’ not because I’m good but because my Loving Devine Source (God) Is Good! Now the cradle Catholic can stop feeling ‘guilty’ for being Loved by God!

I am humbled, perplexed and grateful that Richard is patiently walking us through who the Trinity is and how accessible this personal relationship is through prayer and contemplation . The Father , Son, and Holy Spirit in communion with us is so much easier to see in my heart, mind , soul and body. This truth has truly liberated me!!
I am so blessed and grateful to Fr. Richard…….this truth is a game changer

In the intention of faithful surrender, the mission of each disciple comes, along with the grace to carry it out. This is no willful innovation. This is the core of the tradition as millions of us, including Pope Francis, understand it. Amen.

This talk, this teaching, sharing of insight is so thick with ideas and truths that i have made notes to myself to catch some of the knowledge lest i am distracted and need to remind myself. It reaches me, pulls at my knowledge and my set ideas and creates a start of truth learning. No one can teach someone who knows it all. The cap needs to be wrung in my hands with the need to learn what has not been accepted before. Thank you for deeming me worthy of teaching. Marie

“Because, you see, the alarming fact is that any realization of depth carries a terrible burden: Those who are allowed to see are simultaneously saddled with the obligation to communicate that vision in no uncertain terms: that is the bargain. You were allowed to see the truth under the agreement that you would communicate IT to others (that is the ultimate meaning of the bodhisattva vow). And therefore, if you have seen, you simply must speak out. Speak out with compassion, or speak out with angry wisdom, or speak out with skillful means, but speak out you must.”

Love this. Great talk. Fr. Richard is very clear and simple in the way he presents things. But I do have one wish: When he "knocks down" an idea or concept that is not "good Theology" or a correct perspective on something, he is not always very good at giving the CORRECT or better way to look at it or express it. One is left with a hole where a cherished idea was without always getting the replacement. Case in point: Sacred Space. "There is no 'sacred space'". What does one do with that? And, it seems to me, that can go too far and become an anti matter, neo platonic sort of Iconoclasm where we destroy sacred images, don't have churches, etc. Very complex issues cannot always just be tackled with quick sayings. He did this more in the dialogue with Fr. Keating.

Father Richard, your videos have enlightened me in helping me understand the Enneagram and its application. All of it has transformed my life! I do have one thought for you. You emphasize in your videos that we want so much to have earned our redemption. As a Lutheran 5 with a 4 wing, this isn't true for me. I accept my newly invigorated faith as an unearned gift. Are you maybe looking through a Type 1 Lens where everyone has to work hard to earn everything? I think so. As a lazy 5, I never felt that way. -Kim Bowman

You mentioned falling in love with God. To help cultivate this relationship, sing “Can’t Help Falling in Love (with God/Jesus)”. Original song written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss. Lyrics modified by C. Vaughan in 2023.
Wise men say, Your love is with us all.
So I can’t help falling in love with you.
Shall I love, as you love us?
For I can’t help falling in love with you.
Like a river flows, surely to the sea,
By the grace of God, our love was meant to be.
So take my heart. Take my whole life, too.
For I can’t help falling in love with you.
Like a river flows, surely to the sea,
By the grace of God, our love was meant to be.
So take my heart. Take my whole life, too.
For I can’t help falling in love with you.
For I can’t help falling in love with you.

Jesus fills all levels of the hierarchy of being. Iconographic depiction of him being enthroned as the high priest is mirrored in icons of the crucifixion, particularly in the east, which depict a serene Christ on the cross almost as though he sits on a throne. Jesus is both King and Servant, uniting those two and inverting earthly concepts of power by showing that to be great is to be least and to lead is to serve. Icons of Jesus looking like an emperor only don’t make sense when you lose the broader context of the mystery like the west lamentably did. It’s far too flat to presume that we made icons of Christ on a throne and this removed him from the trinity. That’s a very flat and unhelpful way of looking at the symbolism

The sacred personal name of God is Yehovah. (There is no W sound in Hebrew. ). The bible actually commands to speak this name for all generations. If is NOT scriptural to refrain from saying the name. That is a rabbinical lie that is utterly contrary to scripture. Read Exodus.

  • @ilsephillips539
    @ilsephillips539 ปีที่แล้ว

My friend suggested I listen to your talks and I have listened a few times. What I never hear you refer to is any Biblical scriptures. If you are trying to teach about God's character and about Jesus and the Holy spirit, why would you not use Biblical scripture to teach? You mostly quote from other people's thoughts or words. You take biblical passages out of context, and make them into obscure notions, trying to sound mystical. To those listening: read the bible, start in the Book of Mathew and then keep reading. Read the Old Testament along side. Then you will really learn who God is, his Character, who Jesus is, and the Holy spirit. Dont just listen to this man, just read the Bible for yourself. Contemplation is a time to pray to God, read the Biblical texts and then reflect on them, contemplate them.

  • @gobrad
    @gobrad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

As an ordinary Catholic, I always try to be careful what and who I listen to in regards to our faith… strange as it is, too often deception comes from those we think have the answer!! Rohr here is quoting from a Muslim poem and it’s perspective… At times he also alludes to Buddha and other sources in his attempts to explain the Divine but as we are aware how these sources come from demonic influences, hence other religions etc.
Buddha said: let me tell you the truth… Jesus said: “I Am The Truth” He also goes on to reveal how He “Is The Way and The Life” Cut off from Me you can do nothing”
The danger in this man’s teaching is no different than what Satan did in the garden while quoting scripture… The deceiver up to his ‘ol tricks in order to divert eves attention from the one and only source (GOD) Rohe is heretical in his teaching, using other sources to point to One God which can only lead to “DECEPTION”
if all these religions in they’re diversity were to stand for the Truth which is Jesus Christ, He would be divided unto Himself…
Look at the consequences of the reformation… There now exists thousands of denominations, each in contradiction to the other, that insofar as each of these sects differ in that degree of knowledge, they stand less and less in that truth which is Jesus Christ…
“I Am The Lord Your God, You Shalt Not Have False gods (smaller g) Before Me”
We see how he manipulates the saints into his idea of contemplation such as Theresa of Avila, a true mystic, contemplating one source, without acknowledging any other!! This man is doing just that and must be challenged on this diverse way of teaching for it can only lead to deception!!

I think you have a false idea of what a false god is. To call Father Richard Rohr a heretic is heresy! He’s a Franciscain monk for goodness sake…as a catholic you surely know how saintly St Francis was, how influential to the Christian world, and to all other faiths. Oh, and one more thing. Are you referring to St Theresa of Avila, the Spanish mystic, often in trouble with the church, or St Rita, the one we pray to for hopeless causes? If you follow this wonderful speaker you will already know that Father Richard Rohr has already been investigated by the catholic hierarchy in Rome(and we all know how perfect they are🥲). He was found NOT to be a heretic. I do hope you can find a path out of your dualistic thinking. God bless you.

      You’re wrong.
You’re use of quotation marks is wrong.
The quotes you’re using are false.

@@jacquiepaumier8676 Well Look at Luther, he was one of the greatest heretics of The Church and we see how millions follow him… Do you perhaps think he’s not a heretic also?… My idea on what a false god is someone or thing who claims to be “Divine” The only Divinity is “The Blessed Trinity” That answer should be sufficient. Buddha and other false (gods) who he quotes, ARE NOT DIVINE!
“A Franciscan monk for goodness sake” in other words I’m to take what he states as truth!… Oh are you in for a shock, most of deception comes and will come from within! Fr Rohr is a prime example of this!!
It began in the first 12, are you also of the thinking this was not to continue??…. Sure you even allude to this when sarcastically mentioning how perfect our church is…
Yes St Frances is indeed a saint, sadly there are those who distort his teaching which is that of Our Dear Lord only! You cannot and must not intermingle other beliefs with our faith as this can only lead to deception! When Satan deceived Eve, he did so by quoting scripture back to her!… This subtle change resulted in irreparable damage “as you surely know” For that reason alone we are not meant to quote scripture unless reading directly from the Bible, lest we make a mistake causing deception hence the beginning of many other religions by distorting the truth!!
I have no doubt Fr rohr is a well versed man, sadly he’s overstepped his role as a priest… He should not acknowledge other faiths with the intentions of accepting their beliefs and for the very reasons I explained above!!
In regards to Rita and Therase your right I made a typo… I did if course mean st Theresa who as you know is a doctor of the church, the one and only church Jesus instituted….
To Conclude: St Frances as all saints, reached out to everyone as he ought to have done in his efforts to share the truth but he did so without compromising it…. Jesus did not compromise, for redemption would not have been possible!
What Fr Rohr is doing is heretical! If the church found it necessary to investigate him as you stated (which I was not even aware) Something then is amiss!! In answer to your wink 😉 on how perfect the Church is, we’ll, in contrast to you challenging me on my perception of a false god… The Church IS Perfect!! It is the “mystical body of christ” however, those who are in it are imperfect just like Fr Rohr and many others!… In fact as we speak it’s going through it’s persecution/ crucifixion but as Jesus, it will be resurrected in its true Glory soon… This is taken places by a cleansing after which will be ONE, Holy Apostolic Faith” ALL other influences will be destroyed!!

@@gobrad As a convert from Anglicanism to Catholicism I find what what you say thought provoking. History can be interpreted in many ways, strangely, as far as I know Henry the Eighth has never been referred to as a heretic. As for Martin Luther, indeed he has been considered by many in the catholic church a heretic, although Pope Benedict XVI cleared him of that label some years ago. . However, he was one of many who already wanted to reform a Church, much in need of transformation in sixteenth century Europe. However, I don't believe he ever desired the schism that arose, although that would have eventually happened.
Every Sunday I recite the creed and in my heart I believe in the "Church, one, holy, Catholic and apostolic". But I witness its need to be willing to give more voice to its members. By God's providence there are men and women able and willing to work with the church, participating in an internal dialogue, where able, to bring God's love, and the audacity of Jesus' message, into an institution which is, let's be honest in great sufferance. Our prophetic responsibility, as baptised members of the church, is to obey God's will and follow Jesus's bold message, but sometimes prevented by the excess of power given to those whose job it is to teach us that message. I continue to believe that Richard Rohr is fulfilling that task. I can only speak personally, but thanks to him God is even more at the centre of my life, and after a ten year gap, I am reading my Bible again.
So, if you believe Richard Rohr is a heretic, I thank God for that. But I beg to differ, for me he is just trying to speak the words God has been whispering to him since he awoke to God's infinite, and universal love and presence many years ago.
      Bonne année 2022!

@@jacquiepaumier8676 Well Jacquie, first may I commend you on coming home to The Church as it truly is the One Jesus instituted…
We know all Christian’s were Catholic before the reformation… Luther, a disgruntled man, a fallen away priest, heretic marries a nun who he helped escape from the window of a convent did irreparable damage by spreading heresies while omitting sacred scripture making an ale cart menu of the Lords Word resulting in thousands of denominations each in contradiction to the other according to their interpretation of scripture, that when Jesus said “I Am The Truth, The Way And The Life” Well insofar as each denomination differ in that degree of knowledge, (Anglican being closest to Catholicism) they stand less and less in that Truth which is Jesus Christ, we know some of these denominations are so basic in their beliefs it’s frightening to say the least…
How do such heresies begin… Subtly!… It’s of demonic influence so as to confuse, causing deception! I’m from Ireland, a land were my ancestries were plundered, raped and murdered under British rule simply because of our faith,… Sadly the subtle diabolic influence is once again attacking our shores only this time through modernism!! The Holy Spirit guides and renews His Church, not human beings! The Truth cannot and must not be compromised by any influence especially another source!! Anything outside this truth is diabolic…
Buddhism is of a diabolic source, it denies the Divinity of The Blessed Trinity and Christ as Our Saviour… This is ant-Christian (diabolic)
Without getting caught up in the who’s and why’s, the crux of the matter to my argument when discerning Fr Rohr whom I accept is a well versed man and priest, is his acceptance of other religious beliefs with the intentions of mingling with those of our faith… This can only lead to a distortion of The Truth which is Jesus Christ… This concept leaves a door open to many others and for that reason, we ought to be careful lest we be deceived!! As history proves, deception comes from within, and we know already the influence behind the degradation of The Church at present… need I say anymore? The smoke of Satan has already entered, through one of these “doors” but as Jesus said “The Gates Of Hell Shall Not Prevail” watch out for the snakes! By their fruits shall you know them!! Don’t allow other influences give way!! Jesus warned many will come IN HIS NAME.
Apologies for delay, I’ve been down with covid to which I’ve only lost my dad … Please keep him in you Prayers 🙏…

    Fr Richard Rohr
Sadly you are new age confusion. Why are you trying to reinvent Christianity and The One Holy Apostolic Church in a world that is already so confused especially young people Why do you call yourself a priest I feel using the system to gain humun respect. It is clear when you critize christianity you are causing disunity and now creating more confusion on THE MYSTERY of The Trinity. I could go on. I pray for your conversion you have lost it.
    God bless you.

The Christian faith is already so divided. Richard Rohr is doing more than many to help address this. If you understood his teaching you would see that.

The Trinity is not a club for authority to beat the seeking soul with. As a mystery it invites, indeed demands, endless unfolding, devotion, alert surrender, and joyous self-emptying.
