  • For getting a lock open by applying rotational force, I was inspired by this video • Video . But the KESO is a quality lock that does not break easily.

    Have fun watching my unsuccessful attempts to forcibly open that lock. Here's a professional demonstration of this technique th-cam.com/video/OZg1P_Nw2v4/w-d-xo.html

      Potti314 Should have tried an impact driver.... those things can turn any bolt i can find.

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would if I had one. I also think that chances are good to cause some damage with an impact driver.

    Bloody hell thats a tough lock! I think it did brilliantly :-) very fun video... makes me want to install some of these locks in my house!

    That was sooo funny !! I have to say though when I saw you about to the power drill, I had a scary picture in my mind of two broken wrists lol

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I was also a bit afraid of what would happen ;-) This is another example of a purely unprofessional attack. I was just curious with which tools I could cause which degree of damage. There are commercial "keys" for dimple locks with an end-piece at which you can attach a ratchet. I've seen videos where this method is applied on locks with brass pins. But the KESO was strong :-)

    I’m impressed how much it took to break that lock! Great video

    Awesome video! That thing can take a beating!!
    I used to work in the same town where those are made, as a matter of fact. :)
    There’s no way that’s aluminum - aluminum would have broken FAR earlier! (I don’t know what it is though.)
    FYI, the names for your tools in English are:
    - Ratsche = ratchet, which accepts a
    - Nuss = socket
    - Radkreuz = lug wrench

      Thanks for watching and thanks for the translation :-) Yes, aluminium might be too weak - CrNi Steel was suggested in the comments.

  • @BD90..
    @BD90.. 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    That was very funny. Just shows the better the quality of the lock the more resistant it is. :)

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you - I also had a lot of fun and my children, too. Steel pins are truly a good choice and build up a very resistant lock.

    here's something you can try...
    using the same style of breaker bit you made,
    (make sure bit is 5mm shorter than keyway)
    chuck it up in a hammer drill.
    (drill for concrete / soft stone)
    make sure set to hammer & use slow to medium speed.
    (light on the trigger)
    And please...
    mount lock into board to simulate
    door installation.

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good info - will try that on my next attempt. Have you been successful with that technique and if yes, what locks did you test?

  • @TallanPick
    @TallanPick 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very funny Michael, the lock resist very well. They are not easy locks to pick, very challenging, fortunately you save one half ;-))
    Thanks for sharing ;o))

      Thank you. Yes it held pretty well the impact. As it didn't turn open I should better learn to pick it ;-)

  • @kiebitz9821
    @kiebitz9821 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really nice, especially because there is a better version made of CrNi Steel which should not break like this. Thanks for your work and video. I expected the thin driver pins to slip though but they have a very good resistance obviously.

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you - yes slipping drivers was my plan, too. But the resistance was quite good. I was just curious to see what breaks first with my various tests. Maybe the housing is made from a different material than aluminum, I was just guessing based on the look and the weight.

    Вы,как специалист должны понимать,что это не открытие цилиндра,а варварский метод взлом,который может не пройти в самих дверях,спасибо за проделаную работу,с уважением Виталий.

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      translated: "You, as an expert, should understand that this is not a cylinder opening, but a barbaric method of hacking, which may not pass through the doors themselves, thanks for the work done, with respect Vitali."
      As mentioned in the video the broken lock was not considered to be a success in destructive entry. My plan was to deform the brass chambers and let the pins slip through. But the lock decided to just explode ;-) Thanks for watching :-)

    Oh my god ;D...What happened on the last try was the only thing what could have happened Potti ;D, you will not break 15 steel pins hahaha. You just need an excuse to your wife to buy new tools, right ;D (yeah...the drill was smoking only a little bit... ;D). Pretty dangerous what you did ;), but somehow it was really funny to watch. Please do not hurt you. Thank you for beeing crazy :D.

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I didn't expect the steel pins to break but I thought that the brass might deform or break in which the pins are hosted. Then with some tolerances given the pins could angle and slip through. Well, actually I just wanted to break something and my children were really interested ;-) You said about me doing crazy things - haha, that is what people usually say about me ;-) Thanks for watching mate :-)

  • @FredoTheCrow

    It's not aluminium by the way... :)

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment - so what metal is it and what properties could I have inspected to know?

    • @FredoTheCrow
      @FredoTheCrow 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the cylinder generation and the options selected. Older euro profiles were listed as "Sidra metal core with CrNi housing" but you could also order different steel versions. In the last catalogue you can chose "Chrome nickel steel" or "Sidra metal" or "CrNi/Sidra material mix". The anti-snap connection bar (between the two halves) is always some kind of steel, CrNi or sometimes another one that is blueish and not very shiny. Top of the line recent models can be ordered with a special "pulling protection rotor" and "high-quality drill-open protection in sleeve and rotor".
