AB, you just touched on the very core of reality for most ordinary Papua New Guineans i.e. including the working class citizens who not only financially support their nuclear family but extended family as well. I hope that by displaying all those food staff can help our good PM face reality instead of living in fantasy and pretending all is ok with ordinary taxpaying PNGeans. God bless you and PNG.🙏👍

The simplicity of AB's inquiry regarding the notable increase in the prices of basic food staples underscores the fundamental nature of the issue at hand. One would expect such a question to elicit a direct and accessible response. Yet, regrettably, the PM appears to struggle in providing a clear and concise explanation for this economic phenomenal.

The fact is, AB has no policy frame work on inflation control. He is just touching our nerves to get public support for him to be PM.

The question was how to reduce INFLATION thats presently affecting the simple people of PNG.
And it's not about continuous passing of the buck(s) to the opposition or the previous government(s).
This rhetorics are so very becoming highly usual like bunch of clowns in a circus rather than MP's debating issues of both National and International significance for tangible development(s) internally and externally otherwise.
It's so much said and much needs to be done for the betterment of our country PNG.TA!😟

Governor, your demonstration to support your questions where without a doubt a nail in the conscious of the Government and it's fellowship of leaders who don't see the need for change. For the PM is resort to inflationary pressures from global factors and try to justify his questions is a sign he doesn't know how to answer this simple question. When can you as PM state a time frame and work towards this time to reduce prices. Don't avoid the question, pass the buck, point the finger. The leaders who sit behind you are as blind as you to the sufferings of our small people.
    We need change.

Bank of PNG is responsible for providing price stability in Png by using monetary policy interventions. BPNG needs to step up in its role. Govt must increase the minimum wages of low income Png people. Price controller is fast asleep, no inspectors from Govt actively inspecting/ monitoring shops to monitor prices, so businesses taking advantage by profiting excessively with price hikes. International inflation is on the rise driven by disturbance to world supply chains by 2 ongoing wars Russia Ukraine war and Israel Hamas war. PNG is a small open economy and bears the full brunt of world inflationary pressures. In view of this, Govt must immediately put in place a range of domestic inflation curbing economic measures, by attracting new foreign investment, remove market/supply chain inefficiencies, increase export volumes, stabilise value of kina, increase physical shop inspections for price monitoring, to actively keep Png domestic inflation under control. ❤😮😮😮

All if theses mentioned will only happened if Marape is ousted and new government which are economically and administratively literate are on stage, and in which case, the opposition that's is the alternate government obviously. If Marape-Ross government can't understand fully the function of consumer price index and the income per Capita in the simplest term possible in which Bird tried illustrate with the daily food for the people, then inflation and minimum wage are term new to them. If Marape joked that the opposition can't solve a simple arithmatics, then he himself can't define a simple term of consumer price index (in terms of inflation) and income per capita (in terms of income per week vs the cost of living in a week). Real amature. 😬😬

The government's answer should centre around how to address kina devaluation as it directly causes inflation. This is my high school knowledge, an economist should correct me, thanks

    • @NamugoiPrestine
      @NamugoiPrestine 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes, kina is one causes of inflation but it's not the major cause of the inflation. You see, Kina is not on fixed rate but on flotation rate meaning that the appreciation and depreciation of Kina depends on the quantity of foreign currency in in our reserve. The more export we make and the import, our kina value will go up and if import exceed the export, this will reduce the foreign currency in our reserve causing the Kina value to depreciate or devalued. Now, if you look at the food we normally have, most of them are imported items, and the domestic manufacturers import raw materials such grains, rubber, aluminium and so forth, to manufacture finished product. So, if the high imports has caused shortage of the foreign currency in our reserve, then import will delay due payment delay leading to shortage of supplies to meet the rising demand triggering rise in the price of goods and service (inflation).
The above is solely from what I learned as working as the warehouse, procurement, supply chain, and logistics officer so not from a certified economists.

Paying for childrens school fees or removing project fees or lifting the tax threshold does not have a direct impact on lowering inflation on for basic goods and services...... Government dreaming.....

I think we as part of the global community, we are facing inflation just to maintain the stability of the value of our Kina itself. So let us take the ownership instead blaming our very own PM 🖐️

Simple people still suffering to date as they debate the issue of inflation in png. Can our leaders state to the people n confirm that the leaders are the most highly paid persons in png whilst their voters are affected on their knees because of the terrible inflation leading to consumable item prices skyrocketing?

Mr. Prime Minister u pilim pain. Mipla ol liklik mammeri pilim pain blo inflation. I don't know if you ever eat rice amd tinfish at all. The connect png policy is nothing but a process of diverting money to their own company. Excessive government spending with no cash flow in the country is ridiculous😢.

I just had tears come to my eyes when I think of the struggle our people, especially our mothers have to endure to make end meets for their family. Our market mamas, that's why I never complain when I buy food from them even if they charge an extra for an item no one will buy. I buy it regardless to help where I can. Why do our people have to suffer like this in a country that is blessed beyond measure. The blood of every PNGan is on the hands of those who refuse to stand up for what is right and make a difference, when you can. You will answer one day
