So neat you’re getting one done! Its going to be so helpful in your planning having that scan. Any architect or surveyor would be able to use that scan. BTW you could show up in the scan kinda like a ghost image if you stay in the way. You can definitely fly through the point cloud. I’ve done some edits for my uncle that he could show the client. Like a virtual drone fly through but in the point cloud. You can do x ray vision too it’s really cool. Sick edit btw. so fun to clip down buildings like that it looks awesome!😄 Wow it’s fun knowing exactly what’s going on with the scanner and how it all works. 😄You have the contour lines showing nice! @@arbys6920they range greatly in price. Depending on instrument accuracy and other specs. You can get handheld version to scan car parts for a few grand. The drone stuff for orthomosaic and photogrammetry is not as bad as one might think, he can even do it with his current drone. Now you start getting into LIDAR stuff with an RTK Mavic, then you can easily get into small new car prices to obtain all the equipment.
HiMatt, Thanks for bringing us along and including the process of the scan. Very interesting! Those arches are very beautiful and would be a serious loss if they are taken down. Obviously, safety is a concern. How about clear epoxy to strengthen it, as it has building purposes also! and you can still see underneath. Also, even though the other building that was scanned, you can still use it for plans to rebuild a similar building. As always, God bless and take care from your long-time California subscriber.
Always fun to hear a complete newbie learn about what i work with on a everyday basis. Its so natural for me but for someone that dosnt know its kinda like magic
that topo map would help you or a permaculture designer figure out the best way to capture and manage your rain catchment with swales and ponds if you decide to do that, which would be a wise thing to do in a desert. you could capture enough water on that land to have year round ponds and create new springs in about 10 years when the ground gets fully saturated with water like a sponge. Andrew Millison has some great videos on those concepts
If you've met some of the neighbouring ranches, talk to them about oil dust control spray for gravel roads. It's as good for the environment as millings and may be a cheaper option to stabilize the gravel and keep dust down. Millings does in fact wash out in big rain falls so that's one thing to keep an eye on.
❤ Love the progress and the vision for the ranch. Remember it's just like the house brother; like eating an elephant one bite at a time. Just don't let it get overwhelming. You got this and God's got your back brother.
It’s actually really awesome that only a small amount of people can stay there because they’ll be able to get to know each other maybe have dinner together or have a bonfire or whatever and there all there because they like Matt so that’s really cool
Matt, i would really think about putting in a large trailer park, say start w/ 40 spots and have room to expand to 150 in an area of your property. Id even look into Boxables, little foldable cabins. You have so much land, you could have areas dedicated to trailer park, your resort main areas, to so many different things everywhere.

I don’t know what his drone is capable of but you can use aerial LIDAR to map out the whole ranch and find things you might not have discovered yet. The videos are getting cooler with every new one.

I got a chance to work with an older generation of these Leica systems back in the late 2000s (I think it was the first and second generation ScanStation). We were still hand-stitching shots together using datum targets, and the number of points the computers could handle was significantly more constrained. The beauty of the system is, say the engineers came back and tell you the walls of the burned building just aren't safe. You now have geometry down to the level of each individual stone's position and orientation. You could ID every stone, (gently) tear the building down, and rebuild it to it's current appearance with better bones and fresh mortar. It's wild some of the restorations they were doing with the tech even back then.
These are used in real estate, when we do 3D mapping of homes. Complete game changer for open houses. Matterport is a way that we can get a feel for the size and view angles etc, prior to getting someone to an open house and I think it draws more people in to places when they feel like they’re inside the place, can feel the ceiling height and window sizes and floor space. This was really cool to see. Would be a cool photo to have hanging up too - a sky view of the place and you could watch it progressively change over time. Very cool thing to have for many reasons - and not juts for work.
I work at a company that does Lidar scanning and analyzes them for construction projects, so it's pretty neat to see all this tech being used on Matt's channel for one of my favorite projects to watch outside of work.
Matt don't forget about RV camping around the burned building and the ones you have already took down. There may be some people that had rather came in that area and not take their campers down to the river. Just a thought!

I study architectural conservation in university and recently did a paper on LIDAR and other 3D scanning methods on this scale, so was really cool to see this used in your video!
I could see this do really well with Demolition Ranch stuff. Get several ranges going, some long range, shorter stuff, some three gun stuff. Get an instructor doing classes out there. Get some rooms for people to stay in and a place to eat. It could become a great destination for gun enthusiasts. Go there for a weekend, or a week of shooting and training. Some relaxing with the animals around and the river when it makes an appearance. Some hiking. Get the rope course back up and going. It would be a great "man" resort.
Matt, put in some remote camp sites right away so you can get campers/paying customers in as fall tamps cool down. There may already be some, if they were cleaned up. Parking pads and a fire ring are basicly all you need to provide. If you built toilet and showers near and you can be up and running, quickly. If you could open remotes up for horse camping, they all are remote campers and bring their own pens and corrals or picket lines. Horse people just need land to ride on.
That gadget that Dennis was using is absolutely amazing. I’ve never heard of it but it’s totally amazing what is does. It can get the job done a lot quicker than days of people out there measuring n planning. Keep your chin up Matt… it’s gonna be great. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟
in my dilusional /creative mind , i thought it would be so fun/profitable to 3D map this place and make it a map for a video game, YOU DID IT!!! YES , THIS HAS so much creative content potential. But could be too close to home LOL - This ranch could be the battlegrounds for whatever game company you send it to , or just make it yourself, and or license it, Story line ONE - Zombie Apocalypse at the Previous Guadalupe Ranch Etc- imagine the fun story lines, for example you're a maintenance worker at the Old ranch and the cook gets sick and bites a waitress, then the HR person gets sick , before you know it the whole wine cellar is getting looted, the Main building with the cute plants next to the Texas Cougar fountain is on fire. You the main character, it being Texas and you being a patriot( Coyote control) , you have a pew pwe in your truck , but your stuck on the wrong side of the ranch when all this goes down, so you gotta escape the ranch without getting bit, its a stretch , but i had fun writing this LOL
I love that you're keeping the ruins. Watching old westerns, a lot of them had scenes that happened in old burned down buildings. Will be cool if it gives off that vibe.
What's cool about Lidar is, it can tell trees and shrubbery from ground, rock, and structure. While looking at the scans, you can toggle trees and shrubbery on and off to see THROUGH that stuff and see ONLY the ground and buildings! That's gonna be a HUGE help! Also, I'd LOVE to go out there and clear out the rocks debris, and stuff from the burned-out main building. But I have nothing else to contribute. I have no way of getting there, I have no car, nothing. I'm sure it'll be done eventually, though.

That’s super helpful!
Crazy, looked up the price for this model and it’s north of $85,000
Having the Desperado in COD would be freaking SICK!!!!! Let's make it happen!! I'm sure someone in the Demolitia has the connections for that
This idea is insane, never thought of that, and I’m completely here for it. If you work for Activision or Sledge Hammer or something…the future is in your hands
Got too excited! Didn’t realize Matt talks about having it in COD later in the video ahah
The shot at 25:17 would be a perfect old school 3 lane cod map. Better than almost any current cod maps
@@averagelocalgamer6087 right?? I think it'd make a great "1v1 me bro" map like speedball or gulag showers kinda deal
Love these videos, never missed one of the Abandoned Mansion videos and haven't missed one of these! Keep them coming, I look forward to them and am sure there are plenty of us that can't wait for the next update. Taking on a project this big will be stressful, but in the end it will be epic!
That is just way super COOL!!! That mapping stuff is gonna seriously work out for you Matt. Way to go. I'm glad Dennis reached out to you on this project. Congratulations.
Matt, you are Bonkers! And Meredith you are Bonkers for loving that man, but God bless you 🙏 ❤️! Y'all are awesome! I/ we are looking forward to see the finished product, again 😉😘🫡
Those LiDAR imaging tools are incredible, what a cool job!
Crazy part is that people dont know how much they cost
@@arbys6920they range greatly in price. Depending on instrument accuracy and other specs. You can get handheld version to scan car parts for a few grand. But the kind used in this video are new car to new sports car prices. And that's just land based LiDAR systems, not including airborne and subsea.
The drone stuff for orthomosaic and photogrammetry is not as bad as one might think, he can even do it with his current drone. Now you start getting into LIDAR stuff with an RTK Mavic, then you can easily get into small new car prices to obtain all the equipment.
The company I work for would probably charge about 30k just for the topo of the property
I think he could save all of the archways.
Just build another arch under the old arch to support or reinforce the overhead fr9m below.
Love the series man. Can’t wait for Matt renovates a Theme Park, and then Matt renovates the moon! 🫡
“I see zee moon. I shrink zee moon. I steal zee moon. I sit on zee toilet”
This is what I do for a living. I'm really happy to see that you appreciate the technology and the efficiency of it!
Loving these videos. You're giving us a good feel of everything it takes to bring this property back to life!
Always fun to hear a complete newbie learn about what i work with on a everyday basis. Its so natural for me but for someone that dosnt know its kinda like magic
As a engineer, I’m nerding out. Thanks Matt!
Thanks for showing this! Such a cool tool to tell the dimensions to us viewers as well.
that topo map would help you or a permaculture designer figure out the best way to capture and manage your rain catchment with swales and ponds if you decide to do that, which would be a wise thing to do in a desert. you could capture enough water on that land to have year round ponds and create new springs in about 10 years when the ground gets fully saturated with water like a sponge.
Always a good day when Matt puts out another video 😂 keep it up man
Who ever does the off the ranch edits is a goat they’re always so good also the ruins would be a awesome name for the restaurant
I love geocoding and maps and all of that nerdy stuff. Thanks for the showcase!
Keep your chin up Matt. The resort will be a huge success like all your endeavors.
That 3D mapping is dope af! Please upload more videos like these. That´s really gonna speed up the restoration I think
What cool things technology can help you with. Love the series, keep it coming.
I can't imagine the stress of attempting something this big.
I used to be a project manager and had 25-30 projects going at a time. At the detriment to my family.
I was also raised to shut up and do what it takes to support your family. I'm divorced now with 4 kids.
Please keep your family and mental health the priority.
I don’t know what his drone is capable of but you can use aerial LIDAR to map out the whole ranch and find things you might not have discovered yet. The videos are getting cooler with every new one.
As a now disabled, former carpenter, I feel I can say with confidence, you probably have a lot of fans in the trades that would offer their services for minimal expense. Personally, I'd only ask to b fed, housed, and some range time on the weekends. Of course some monetary compensation would be great as well, but I wouldn't ask for much. Keep your positivity up. You've got this!
Mattt brother I watch your videos for a good 6 years on demo and off , I’m a builder who was a topographical and underground surveyor this is elite corn for me !! I love your videos each day desperado resort is just insaine this is a neat thing to have mapped and topped your ranch !!
You should start a travel vlog called Nations Of Demolitia! Meet up with local Demolitia and gun tubers if that particular country has any. Really make the Demolitia international
This is a great series, keep up the hard work Matt and crew! In it for the long haul.
This is so awesome seeing my industry on Off The Ranch! I went to A&M too, and now I work for a company that sells this equipment! Mapping and GIS is much more useful than people think.
Also, we need to get you a Trimble instead!
Make the 3D model available to us! I’d love to load it in blender and look around lol
I’m sure people could make some cool animations too. Or put it in a game like you want
Exactly what I was thinking. Probably a lot of talent and ideas among the viewership here.
As an engineer and a long time fan. Love watching Matt learn all this cool innovative equipment.
Didnt realize what it takes to do this. The willpower is strong with you and the family. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to visit one day. Keep it up.
obsessed with this series. if you uploaded 10 times a day i would find a way to watch them all lol. I see the dream, don't give up on it!!
I’m pumped to come stay at the resort!
Thank you. This is great entertainment and good stuff , like you said abandoned mantion turned out fantastic. Keep on making fantastic videos Matt and you fabulous Bunch of people
Watching you build this resort makes me miss living in Austin
This touches on a portion of what I do everyday. Cool and fun stuff man!
Glad to see you are getting a model put together. I think that will help a LOT.
A private drag strip and burnout pad at the ranch would be so sick Matt! Think about it you could test the top speed on all your fast cars!! Just don't tell Mere 😂😂
Your family rocks!
What are your thoughts on neuralangelo software/code? Is it any good?
Matt don't forget about RV camping around the burned building and the ones you have already took down. There may be some people that had rather came in that area and not take their campers down to the river. Just a thought!
Keep up the long haul and creating memories Matt and family and crew and friends. Love all your videos. Never quit a job that can move forward even with all the ups and downs. Remember God has you and never underestimate the power of God.❤❤
Matt, this will absolutely be a huge help for you to make things happen a lot easier. It was way cool to see how its done too. I'm glad to see you have found your 2nd (maybe your 5th? lol) wind to keep you chasing your dream(s).
As much as I would love to see the burned out building restored, I think the fire probably made the stone very unstable.
Most likely, the mortar is compromised, having been "cooked". The solution is to remortar the stonework. Matt should hire a few expert masons.
Mapping looks awesome! Thanks for dharing some of the unseen un noticable things... this,is just a lottle glimpse of what happening im sure but we love to see all you share. Your energy and videos are awesome. Hope all goes well. Such a large project will need lot more support and people to bring that place up to life. Cant wait to see what becomes of the beautiful ruins and what u do... once u get to point people can stay there i think it will give all those working more strenght and energy and rewarding as you stemping closer to what the full dream is.
Dang 6th this time I'm slowing down in my old age.
Are you even a real fan?!?!?! Haha
Get it on brother you know how to make it happen !Unfortunately my girlfriend and I have been in ICU hospital in Las Vegas for the past 30 days ( not including 3 days in intensive care ) it was Marys 78th birthday 🎂on the 10th of September so things could be allot worse but just wanted you along with everyone else know that life can throw you a curve ball and to always look up to a better day 🌞 💫 god bless to you all 😇🙏🏻👍🏻😎🦅🇺🇸love your vlogs been watching you for years now !
I study architectural conservation in university and recently did a paper on LIDAR and other 3D scanning methods on this scale, so was really cool to see this used in your video!
That 3D stuff with Dennis was pretty cool! I’ve never seen anything like it
I could see this do really well with Demolition Ranch stuff.
Thanks for keeping us up on all the exciting changes at the Abandoned Resort. Cool 3D mapping. : )
Thanks for showing us the great 3D system, very interesting. Always waiting for the next video of the Abandoned Resort to come out!!! Can't wait to see what's next!! 🥰
I worked on doing lidar imagery as part of some undergrad research I did. It's crazy how far this technology has come since I worked on it just 10 years ago. Looks awesome Matt, I can't wait to see how it works out!
Would love more vids of the planning. Really shows how much more work goes into the renovations besides just knocking down buildings with a 5 ton.
Hi Matt, did you realize that this is your *1,000th* video on this channel?! (according to TH-cam's counter) Congratulations! What an awesome feat. I love the way this channel has progressed over the years, and also the projects that you take on. Keep it up!
Love seeing the RTC360 in Matts video. Even better that I work for Leica Geosystems in the UK 👌
This video was so cool! Great way to expand your reach to all the 3D scanning geeks
Matt, Switzerland is my dream vacation, my grandpa {my moms dad} came over to the US from Switzerland, take me a long when ya go!
That imagining thing or whatever it's called is epic, modern technology has come a long way!
That's awesome. You need a campground for tents and with RV hook-ups.
As some who did forestry for awhile LiDAR is absolutely amazing and this technology, was a great video!
Well, we knew this wasn't going to be cheap. The 3-D mapping is awesome. Can't wait to see how far you can get with this project. I am rooting for you.
Hang in there Matt please we love your videos so you have to keep going. You will do it. It will b all worth it in the end.
Love what you’re doing and the insight into the planning process. Love to see more details about what goes into this part of the process. Not sure if it’s everyone’s cuppa tea, but I’d sure like to see it.
Keep your chin up. It’ll all come out in the wash. Besides, you love this work yeah?! Keep smilin Matt! 😊
It will all be worth it when it’s done. We look forward to the day that the doors open so we can come visit.
Can’t wait to watch the progress!!! Huge project but can’t wait for it to start coming together!
For the outdoor dining , I think you should 100% put up a 2nd story outdoor deck/patio for the fire place . That would be so awesome if the 2nd story fire place was still useable . And the view from a 2nd story outdoor deck would be so cool
