      @oneeyemonster3262 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      yeah.... but do you know this shit ????
      Diatonic = 7 notes scales...
      Here are 9 PARALLEL diatonic scales ( they all work together)
      They also give you EVERY POSSIBLE 7 NOTES intervals variations
      within the 12 notes....It'll give you 63 MODES. ( 7 notes modes)
      They had to cal them/label them something.
      The MAJOR SCALE is just the REFERENCE
      You need to Point of REFERENCE...simple, yes???
      FOLLOW SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS...
      Shift the notes accordingly to obtain the other scales (intervals)
      1.......2.......3 4........5........6..........7...8
      b2 b3 b5 b6 b7 ( notice these 5 notes)
      AkA MAJOR pentatonic...if you start the count from the b5.
      or Min pentatonic if you count from the b3 as the ROOT,
      In other words...the BLACK KEYS on the piano are in Eb min pentatonic.
      b3, b6, b7 are also the SECOND ARPEGGIO of the I, IV, V chords.
      Pushing DOWN from MAJOR to it's PARALLEL Minor
      in other words from C MAJOR to C min
      b6 = Harmonic MAJOR = IV = min , dim or FULL diminished. ( lydian b3)
      b3 = Melodic minor
      b3, b6 = Harmonic Minor
      b2, b3 = Melodic minor b2 (N6) aka Neopolitian
      b2, b3, b6 = Harmonic minor b2 ( N6)
      b3. b5 = melodic min b5
      b3, b5, b6 = Harmonic min b5 = III of HUNGARIAN MAJOR
      b3 #4 = Melodic min #4 or Lydian b3
      b3, #4, b6 = Double harmonic min...AKA Hungarian Minor
      then....b3, b6, b7 = NATURAL min
      You can REVERSE the PROCESS..PUSH UP
      from minor to MAJOR
      from A min to A MAJOR
      DO both....the scales will intersect in different ways
      You can modulate or SHIFT to multiple KEYS smoother
      and EASIER...PUSH and PULL as you please.
      Create whatever tension and release as you please.
      example from A minor to A MAJOR
      A min.....D min E min
      A min D min E7
      A min D7 E7
      A min B7 E maj7 ( A lydian b3/ E harmonic MAJOR)
      You can also play B7 into E min..in other words
      CIRCLE UP to the 5th...
      The (N6) will help you cycle down to the 4th...
      A harmonic min b2 or A melodic min b2
      the Bb note...
      You can make the Bb as MAJOR , Maj7 or DOMINANT ( do can whatever)
      example if play Bb maj7 as a LYDIAN ( IV) it's help you
      shift to F MAJOR/Dmin
      as ION.Bb MAJOR/G min
      as Mix Bb7..Eb MAJOR/ C min
      do you see it....F, Bb, Eb.....cycling down to the 4th ????
      if you use A melodic min b2...it'll simple be Bb Augmented
      in other words....G Harmonic , melodic minor...ect
      you can also play Bb7 C7 into F melodic minor..in other words F min
      A melodic minor = F# aeo b5
      A lydian b3 = F# dor b5
      Melodic min is just a DORIAN with a LEADING TONE
      F# dor b5 or Aeo b5 with a LEADING TONE
      melodic b5 or harmonic min b5
      in other words F# min or A MAJOR
      or you can simply play the C# note from A min to
      A min..B dim...C# dim into D min ( D melodic minor)
      G7 A7 into D minor
      G = Mix #4 A = mix b6
      HARMONIC MAJOR = Mix b6 with a LEADING TONE
      as I said you can make the Bb as whatever
      you would had also played Bb dim or augmented into B minor

  • @redpaul101
    @redpaul101 5 ปีที่แล้ว +48

    4th & 5th intervals are 'perfect', cos they're complete ( _perfectus_ in Latin). All the other intervals have a minor and major variant. Inverted, each minor interval becomes a major one. So, e.g., a minor 3rd (C->Eb) inverted becomes a major 6th (Eb->C); and a major 2nd (C->D) inverted becomes a minor 7th (C->D). 4ths & 5ths are neither major nor minor but complete in themselves. A perfect 4th (C->F) inverted becomes a perfect 5th (F->C) & vice versa.
    As they are neither major nor minor, lowering or raising them a semitone (fret) doesn't change them from major to minor or v. versa, but diminishes or augments them, e.g., the tritone aka 'blue' note, is an augmented 4th/diminished 5th). Hence, "diminished" and "augmented" chords: e.g., Cdim (Cº) - C, Eb, Gb (C->Gb is a diminished 5th interval); or Caug (C+) - C E G# (C->G# is an augmented 5th interval).

      No, you can't possibly absorb this info at once... He is just explaining what the intervals are, but you have to train it yourself (unless you got perfect pitch) if you want to do something with it. But it isn't that hard actually: I learned to recognize all the intervals by ear within 2-3 weeks. And it is very helpful.

    I never really understood Intervals. This is like my third try of understanding it.. the way you explain it I think I got it.. instead of making a minor chord with "the first - semi tone lowered third - and fifth" tone, you name all 12 semi tones in one octave and target them precisely. And the names help you to understand and know what you will get (major minor). Still this is very difficult for a newby like me but I feel like this is the real key to understanding and making music.

    Thank you Paul.

    Hi, great video. I thought minor second and major second are the same note. Because the second note of a major or minor scale are alwaxys one whole step apart....

    Hey! This video helped me to understand intervals, I've been playing guitar for 5 years and I just knew the scales when I play I just improvise with the major and that's all I really would appreciate if you make a few more music theory s Videos to improve my way of soling and playing the guitar!
    You're doing a great job!

      8 = octave. Subtract 8 and you have the note degree. 13-8=5 = fifth. It’s just marked as 13 as it’s one octave higher from my understanding.

    I wonder whether the series will end up in something hard like composition and the theory behind that. I mean at the moment I just have an idea, take my guitar, playing along and find the chords, and that's just it. You can actually study composition so there must be more behind that ;-)
