    I think the medals now truly capture the essence of the 2024 Olympics. Rotten to the core with a thin veneer of pompous glitz. They will become iconic heirlooms.

      With Gold, Silver and Bronze the higher purity (i'm sure there's a better word) the metal is the less likely the metal is to corrode but with all jewellery or trophy metals they are made with alloys thus tarnish and/or rust can/will occur over time

    If you know metallurgy you cannot put dissimilar metals together. The metal behind the steel is supposed to be a zinc alloy. This causes a anode cathode effect and causes the metal to deteriorate being exposed to moister and especially salt. They use zinc blocks on ships hulls under the waterline to stop corrosion on steel, the zinc goes away loosing ions and the steel stays. Zinc is commonly called a sacrificial metal. This is what is happening to the metals i can bet.

    ?? Gotta say, LVMH may have only designed the medals, and NOT made them, but with the hundreds of billions of dollars that LVMH has, they could easily step up and solve the poor quality problem, by sourcing another reliable company to quickly make a replacement set of 'quality made' medals and send them to the winning athletes. As a sign of good faith, respect for the athletes that won at the Paris Olympics, while winning respect around the world for such a generous gesture... instead of making Paris and LVMH look ungrateful, cheap and selfish.

    During the pandemic, Chinese people learned the easy way to tell if an LV bag was fake because the fake bags did not fade in color with repeated use of disinfectants but real bags lost their color easily...
    Synonomous with quality is funny. China literally couldnt fake how bad real LV bags were

    Blame the mint? No. LVMH has the final say in quality. Their quality control is apparently lacking. It’s not as enamel coatings are something new and experimental.

    • @mercoid

      Gold and silver plated and the Bronx being solid would be reasonable enough. Solid silver and gold, much too expensive and a security risk for the athletes who possess them.

    • @philippehoudoin2721
      @philippehoudoin2721 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@mercoidAfaik, the silver medal is solid silver, and that why you don't see post about Paris 2025 rusted _silver_ medals.
      But Gold and Bronx are indeed plated, and the varnish supposed to protect from corrosion hade to be dumped, due to new toxic regulation, to be replaced at last minute by a new one which, clearly, doesn't work at all.
      The Monnaie de Paris are replacing rusted medals, and promise they will do it until they finally find the correct alternative to former, but banned, varnish formula.

      LVMH is figuratively the opposite of TEMU. It is a luxury brand, where TEMU isn't. You could say this is the reason why you buy TEMU instead of the original and branded because the quality of the original is the same with TEMU.

    That's not a varnish issue. I'm a former electroplating technician. That's caused from poor prep. They skimped on the etching process. As well as their noble metals. You cant plate gold over a ferrous metal without using nickle silver or copper first. The gold will fall right off
