    Thank you so much for this video, Kenton! I've been speaking with a number of consultants and have had a hard time getting a sense of what the day-to-day looks like for entry-level people; I mostly hear the "it varies, it varies" response :) But this was super helpful! Thank you for filling an important information void with your videos about the consulting world!

      "It varies" is definitely true but it's a very unsatisfying answer... I remember people telling me the same thing when I was going through the process. Glad this helped!

    This video definitely highlight key things about what associate consultants do! I'm starting my master's in public health degree in healthcare management and I'm interested in working as a consultant after graduation, especially at Bain & Company. How much or what experiences are consulting firms like Bain looking for in "entry level" consultants? I don't have a business or consulting background.

    Hey Kenton! I was wondering if you had any plans or could potentially upload a video on tackling market sizing cases? Most the people I've talked to who are successful in interviews and have had offers said they don't use the issue tree structure for market sizing.
    I find those cases (or parts of cases) a bit more difficult than business problems on average, because I find them hard to structure (I'm a visual person, and so in the short time frame i can't think of the estimations and draw everything to create a perfect tree) so it would be great to see how you tackle them!

      It's a good idea, will consider it for future videos!

    I just got a job offer as Associate Consultant but my full time will start from June. So I should be focusing on EXCEL and powerpoint for now?

    Can you give more detail on the type of training an associate consultant receives when hired on with a firm?

    When you say post undergrad, does it matter what undergrad degree I have?

    • @rocketblocks
      @rocketblocks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Once you've landed an interview, your major will not have any bearing on whether you get passed through or not (only your interview performance itself). Pre-interview, your major can help you land the job (e.g., many firms like quant oriented majors) but people who are history / english / etc. can get interviews, especially if they've got records of academic achievement and leadership.

      How would a undergrad civil engineering degree with no particular academic achievements look?

    • @rocketblocks
      @rocketblocks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If you sell it like that, not too compelling. There is nothing wrong with a civil eng degree but you need some hook to get a top firm to interview you.

      you need to have a high score undergrad from the top tier uni, other than that forget it and that's the truth. MK BC BGC don't take average students. I have met people with a degree in bo medical engineering being hired. They want smart analytical people.

      @@ajuanijustus usually engineering degrees are much harder than a finance degree and your maths skills are much better than a person with financial knowledge, you chances are still very high.

    Do entry-level consultants travel as well??

    • @nicklewiscycling
      @nicklewiscycling 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Typically not.

    • @TESTPASS
      @TESTPASS 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they have some travel locally depending on the client and project and the team they work with. Usually they will.
