I think the CRZ is a super under rated car. I love how small it is, the gas mileage. I get compliments on mine all the time. At least around where I live, you never see a CRZ at the car shows either

Now that I finished my PhD and got a big boy job I want to do a serious performance enhancement on it ... Any ideas? I saw your other video with the suggestions for bars for handling improvement, but I am willing to drop some cash on an engine, or even go crazier with an additional electric power plant... I am willing to turn this car into a sleeper car 🚗
Definitely looking at this for a daily. I have a 20’ Type R right now and while I love it and have been using it as a daily for 7-8 months now. But I want a CRZ for a more chill drive especially when I’m feeling lazy.
I got a 2011 manual today with 6-speed. I am so excited. I possibly will get my hood and roof painted. The motor and everything are great. My air conditioner was not put on however when in the Economy mode it's ice cold. If anyone else can advise on the air please do. I am reading manual. Again I am a Happy camper. Nice Video
Aloha from Hawaii! As for gas mileage, I use Ethanol Free gas. I tested it after two complete tank fulls. The MPG went up to 42-44 local driving and 51 highway. I also tried it on my 2002 Odyssey van, but it didn't make any difference. My CR-Z tires are supposedly made for good mileage, and I have the CVT. I do love this thing, except for the (stock) low front end that seems to scrape everything. I'm currently fixing the bumper and adding a camera above the front license plate so I can stop BEFORE I hit the curb. Love your videos. Keep them coming!

Stumbled on ya. Yeppers- You either love them on don't understand them. I picked up a "13" EX - purple basically new with 25K 3 years ago from a dealer that was sitting collecting dust. Offered a ridiculous low price and just waited. About 2 months later - guess who called! Now drove it 30,000 miles with 000000 problems. 42 MPG Average. So love the Sport mode on Freeway Cruise. Funny thing is when I roll up on Subaru punks and they see this OG (57 yr) in the seat. Take the hybrid badge off the back and replaced with a Boosted badge. Such a hoot.

The Euro version of the car came with the backseat. It is really disappointing that the US version didnt come with it. They also had GT version in Europe.
I'm trying to find why people love this I have a 2013 honda civic, in the spring/summer/fall (I live in a very cold state in the Winter so MPG drops to about 30mpg) but I usually get 35MPG in all the other seasons. It pull 140 horsepower, which is more than the CRZ. Gets almost the same MPG, and is much bigger. All for right near the same price, plus no need to worry about a hybrid battery. It's dead simple. Yeah. It doesn't look the best compared to a CRZ, but it's better in almost every other way from what I can find.
Just a drivers choice most of us already loved the crx so we got the crz and I don’t like giving people rides and add a turbo and it can hang wit the big boys
Honestly I prefer the base model radios to the upgraded screens...the screens have a few neat options on them...but the stripped down utilitarian radios of the base models just give the car a more "roadster" feel...besides the NAV systems at this point are outdated...the real gem of the dashboard of any CR-Z is the gauge cluster and the little radio screen in the upgraded models feel like they're trying to compete with the gauges .
1 passenger, empty gas tank, traction control off, sport mode, near bald tires... freaky fast off the line & a blast to drive. Also pickup is good 60,70,80,90 in sport on the highway, consistent at anyspeed

For those looking to pick up a CR-Z and planning to K swap I advise to look for a 2011 or 2012 as the K20Z3 engine from an Si fits like a glove. All you need is Hasport mounts and harness and you're ready to go. Minimal hacking required.

Been in the market for a manual CRZ. The only things holding me back on it is the batteries on these and insurance & parts/repairs are costly. I hear they need to be replaced way too soon (under 120k miles) and those go for $2000+ 😅.
Tough choice. Both cheap. The ST clearly outperforms the CRZ in everyway, but the CRZ is so much more unique and probably more rewarding to mod and get more out of. But then the ST has the aftermarket support... jeez.

Theirs a purple CRZ EX MANUAL in my city with 20k miles for 15k and I’m debating of getting it Bc I have 2021 CTR as a daily and this would be perfect. Also love the wheel setup it’s something I’d like to get
That sounds like a good buy! But! Go check it out and drive it for a few minutes before anything due to these cars CEL being reset from remove the battery for a bit and need to re read them before lights popping up again. These hybrid batteries if not driven for more than a month can go bad. So low miles isn’t always a good thing.
I love my CRZ. I have a black 2014. Only thing I'm not happy with is I've been noticing hella scratches all over my car and I'm wondering if they had buffed them out when I bought it and I am just now starting to notice them. I really want to get them painted or a clear coat put on but I don't know how expensive it is
If its surface scratches id get a nice cut and buff OR if you have some extra money id color sand and ceramic! but if its deep do what i said above and then get touch up paint lol

Got my 2011 in Oct. 2017, equipped with a "7 speed" CVT. I did an experiment with different grades of gas. Now I'm using mid-grade ethenol free gas. Mileage went from 40 to 47 with the A/C on all the time, and 51 with the A/C off. This is by miles/gallons, not the computer on board. The extra mileage out weighs the extra cost of the mid-grade gas. I get at least 425 miles on a 9 gallon fill-up, and I don't drive with an egg under my foot

Wassup Gregorio! You can buy the seat covers on from clazzio. Not sure the website but it’ll pop up on eBay. Red emblems are all on eBay. Mine are oversized so just measure and order what’s close but bigger. The steering wheel is a replica J’s wheel emblem from eBay as well

Seriously considering selling my SC400 and getting one of these, I need a better daily for the amount I drive. How's the hybrid battery on these? I've been trying to find more info but just trying to figure out whats high for mileage on them. I found a 2011 with around 85k miles for a good price but I don't want to get it and have to worry about the battery replacement cost.
I don’t blame you man, sc400’s are dope but these are great little cars! High mileage would be 100+ tbh, and the batteries are different on newer models. You’d have to look for info on that.. mine just passed 115k and it’s still going strong. Battery lights can go on as early as 80k to as late as 250+ but most people panic and it’s just the normal 12v battery 😂
Brother, I bought my 2012 CRZ because of your videos..I need your help..after having the car driven 6 miles a week for groceries for the past two months due to Covid-19..car wouldn't start..I jumped it to get groceries, the next day it was dead again..I charged the battery overnight then jumped it...two hours later it dead again..ps. the driver side door latch broke.
Sam Toure sounds like you just need to replace your battery... as long as it wasn’t off for more than a month straight I wouldn’t worry too much about your ima battery. And 8 years is about normal for the door latch especially during summer time

Great video, I just got to question. How do you feel about the hybrid battery. Like how long does it last. Because if I'm buying a used crz I would like to know how likely it is I have to replace it. Because that's an expensive part. And second how do you feel about adding a turbo or supercharger kit. Is it worth it or does it already feel quick enough.
Thanks axel! As for the hybrid battery their hit or miss. But as long as the previous owner drove it frequently I wouldn’t worry. They go bad early if they’re not driven for more than a month. As for a turbo or sc... it matters on how deep your pockets are. Most including myself can’t justify 6k for 60-80 hp. The cars a blast stock with tires and coil overs

There's so many different models of these you can get but from what I found out is the 2014-2016 Manuel's get a decent power jump compared to the 2010-11 and 12 modelsbut if you only get an automatic I believe it's only a couple horsepower but the Manuel gets a nice difference only got to test drive one automatic one manualI'm finally looking to get a newer Honda that's all I've owned but I've always owned 90-2000 Honda including a CRX IS IT EASY TO FIND SETTLE MODIFICATIONS FOR THIS CAR? In the u.s.??????I want to keep my 95 Honda Civic for my weekend track car but I'm planning to pick up a 2013-16 model that is stick shift I just was wondering if it would be easy to do something simple like intake or exhaust for these cars or is it hard to find parts for them herethat would probably be the most I would do performance-wise since it's a daily driver if I ever decided to do more than that it would be a supercharger and of course some visual
seattlejdmcivic parts like intake and exhaust are available but ive done them and it’s not worth it unless you have a sc or a k swap. Stock I wouldn’t recommend anything other than suspension and tires and visuals

I'm still not sure if I go this way, only thing I really did to mine was getting a replica Mugen spoiler and tinted rear lights and that's it, although I love the car I see it in a way that in the future I'll probably need a bigger car and it already is kind of inconvenient for it being a 2 seater. Hey I have a 2014 CRZ EX and I am wondering if you can recomend a reflector for the windshield. Since the windshield is so long and the visors are short I have trouble finding reflectors that can stay put especially under the California sun.
@@UbanteGarage I think I have mistaken myself. I mean a sun shade. I tinted most of my windows, except for the windshield since California law barely lets you tint it, I have been searching for a sun shade where it can cover a fair amount and not fall off since the visors are short on the CRZ.
No prob! I suggest you measure the length and head to Honda. They have a ton of them out in the parts area lobby. You can just measure other models and get one close or the perfect size

Well with such low miles I’d definitely test drive it for Atleast 30 miles to see if any ima (hybrid battery) light comes on because that may mean they let it sit for extended periods of time ruining the hybrid battery. If that’s not an issue first this I’d do is wheels and tires. then get coil overs and an alignment.

At one point they made a supercharger kit for it. There MAY be a turbo kit, I could be wrong. If you're looking for power.

The first-gen Insight and seventh-gen Civic Hybrid both came in manual, but the CR-Z is the only sporty hybrid with manual that I know of.

For those looking to pick up a CR-Z and planning to K swap I advise to look for a 2011 or 2012 as the K20Z3 engine from an Si fits like a glove. All you need is Hasport mounts and harness and you're ready to go. Minimal hacking required.

Been in the market for a manual CRZ. The only things holding me back on it is the batteries on these and insurance & parts/repairs are costly. I hear they need to be replaced way too soon (under 120k miles) and those go for $2000+ 😅.

I love this car from what I have seen. I'm still debating between the CRZ and the Focus ST.
if you want gas mileage and fun canyon carving get the crz. If you need a little more space and 4 seats get the focus
Tough choice. Both cheap. The ST clearly outperforms the CRZ in everyway, but the CRZ is so much more unique and probably more rewarding to mod and get more out of. But then the ST has the aftermarket support... jeez.

That sounds like a good buy! But! Go check it out and drive it for a few minutes before anything due to these cars CEL being reset from remove the battery for a bit and need to re read them before lights popping up again. These hybrid batteries if not driven for more than a month can go bad. So low miles isn’t always a good thing.

I love my CRZ. I have a black 2014. Only thing I'm not happy with is I've been noticing hella scratches all over my car and I'm wondering if they had buffed them out when I bought it and I am just now starting to notice them. I really want to get them painted or a clear coat put on but I don't know how expensive it is
If its surface scratches id get a nice cut and buff OR if you have some extra money id color sand and ceramic! but if its deep do what i said above and then get touch up paint lol

Got my 2011 in Oct. 2017, equipped with a "7 speed" CVT. I did an experiment with different grades of gas. Now I'm using mid-grade ethenol free gas. Mileage went from 40 to 47 with the A/C on all the time, and 51 with the A/C off. This is by miles/gallons, not the computer on board. The extra mileage out weighs the extra cost of the mid-grade gas. I get at least 425 miles on a 9 gallon fill-up, and I don't drive with an egg under my foot

Wassup Gregorio! You can buy the seat covers on from clazzio. Not sure the website but it’ll pop up on eBay. Red emblems are all on eBay. Mine are oversized so just measure and order what’s close but bigger. The steering wheel is a replica J’s wheel emblem from eBay as well

as long as you drive it it won't be an issue. just make sure you dont leave it off for more than a month

Seriously considering selling my SC400 and getting one of these, I need a better daily for the amount I drive. How's the hybrid battery on these? I've been trying to find more info but just trying to figure out whats high for mileage on them. I found a 2011 with around 85k miles for a good price but I don't want to get it and have to worry about the battery replacement cost.
I don’t blame you man, sc400’s are dope but these are great little cars! High mileage would be 100+ tbh, and the batteries are different on newer models. You’d have to look for info on that.. mine just passed 115k and it’s still going strong. Battery lights can go on as early as 80k to as late as 250+ but most people panic and it’s just the normal 12v battery 😂

Brother, I bought my 2012 CRZ because of your videos..I need your help..after having the car driven 6 miles a week for groceries for the past two months due to Covid-19..car wouldn't start..I jumped it to get groceries, the next day it was dead again..I charged the battery overnight then jumped it...two hours later it dead again..ps. the driver side door latch broke.
Sam Toure sounds like you just need to replace your battery... as long as it wasn’t off for more than a month straight I wouldn’t worry too much about your ima battery. And 8 years is about normal for the door latch especially during summer time

Great video, I just got to question. How do you feel about the hybrid battery. Like how long does it last. Because if I'm buying a used crz I would like to know how likely it is I have to replace it. Because that's an expensive part.
And second how do you feel about adding a turbo or supercharger kit. Is it worth it or does it already feel quick enough.
Thanks axel! As for the hybrid battery their hit or miss. But as long as the previous owner drove it frequently I wouldn’t worry. They go bad early if they’re not driven for more than a month. As for a turbo or sc... it matters on how deep your pockets are. Most including myself can’t justify 6k for 60-80 hp. The cars a blast stock with tires and coil overs

I’m 5’7 and I’ve seen 6’2 people driving them that love them so that’s all I can say on that. As for performance they are slow. But perfect for the mountains

There's so many different models of these you can get but from what I found out is the 2014-2016 Manuel's get a decent power jump compared to the 2010-11 and 12 modelsbut if you only get an automatic I believe it's only a couple horsepower but the Manuel gets a nice difference only got to test drive one automatic one manualI'm finally looking to get a newer Honda that's all I've owned but I've always owned 90-2000 Honda including a CRX IS IT EASY TO FIND SETTLE MODIFICATIONS FOR THIS CAR? In the u.s.??????I want to keep my 95 Honda Civic for my weekend track car but I'm planning to pick up a 2013-16 model that is stick shift I just was wondering if it would be easy to do something simple like intake or exhaust for these cars or is it hard to find parts for them herethat would probably be the most I would do performance-wise since it's a daily driver if I ever decided to do more than that it would be a supercharger and of course some visual

@@UbanteGarage That's awesome, I've seen people also using the Tein Basis Z coilovers and said it was good as well. I'm still not sure if I go this way, only thing I really did to mine was getting a replica Mugen spoiler and tinted rear lights and that's it, although I love the car I see it in a way that in the future I'll probably need a bigger car and it already is kind of inconvenient for it being a 2 seater. Hey I have a 2014 CRZ EX and I am wondering if you can recomend a reflector for the windshield. Since the windshield is so long and the visors are short I have trouble finding reflectors that can stay put especially under the California sun.

@@UbanteGarage I think I have mistaken myself. I mean a sun shade. I tinted most of my windows, except for the windshield since California law barely lets you tint it, I have been searching for a sun shade where it can cover a fair amount and not fall off since the visors are short on the CRZ.
Ohh. I just use a Honda one for a civic Ep3 but just fold the ends down since it’s too big. Works great

Ayyy welcome to the fam! Well with such low miles I’d definitely test drive it for Atleast 30 miles to see if any ima (hybrid battery) light comes on because that may mean they let it sit for extended periods of time ruining the hybrid battery. If that’s not an issue first this I’d do is wheels and tires. then get coil overs and an alignment.
