Woodturning a Set of Dice Trays

  • Lots of woodworking leading up to the precise woodturning of six matching dice trays.
From a joiner and planer to a drum sander and drill press, the road to the lathe was a fun one that allowed me to play with some neglected woodshop toys.
I also do a bit of laser engraving, but don't show much of that... I'm sure many of you will be grateful, lol.
Thanks again, Paul Waldrop, of Waldrop Custom Guitars, and a brother Marine, for sending me the package. The contents, shown in this video's Mail Call segment, will be treasured and displayed in my office.
This is a sponsor free video. I am entertaining sponsors and collaborations, so if you have an interest or offer, contact me at:

Of course, all of you are welcome to contact me there.
Or, send packages, postcards, and letters to:

    Thanks for watching!
If a person with my photo but without my verification checkmark replies to you in the comment section with a prize offer or some other nonsense... it is not me!!! Beware the scammers and report them as soon as you see them, please! They are harming my channel and they want to scam you!!!

Haven't watched woodturning videos in some time, but when I saw dice trays I knew it was time to come back at least for one video! Reminded me of why I subscribed to your channel. There's something very satisfying about how you edit your videos and your minimal but informative monolog. These are beautiful, and will make a fine addition to your client's gaming table

Felicitaciones!

Nothing like "Mail Call" in the morning. Very special segment in your videos. Interesting to see how 72 small boards turn into 6 different but the same size bowls. All the steps shown as the production line moved through the process. The engraving personalized each piece in a special way.

    Very pretty! Cool dice bowls!
There have been some scammers out there for sure. Ive seen em show up on Doug Moore's channel (pohl barn), and Phil Anderson's also (shady acres woodshop) too. A real shame that is happening. 😎❤👍

Thank you, Dave! It really is a shame, and it seems like TH-cam is holding their presence against us too, though there is only so much we can do about it. It's frustrating. But... I'm not stopping just yet.

@@RHumphrey its good to hear youre not stopping, because I so enjoy watching. I started watching because of the turning. I was really getting into that, then the power failed in the shop I was using. Then I saw you carving. I was much impressed, especially the little Huw! (Huw is a fantastic guy) I thought, I dont need much power for that, and I carved years ago, so...im giving that a go. Ive started a channel too, and have a few subscribers. I post videos from my son's stock car racing, (im the crew, lol) my rides sight-seeing on my motorcycles, and now, a bit of carving. Ive recently relocated my machines to my oldest sons shop, and am planning to start turning again, and ill post videos of that also. Ill never have as big a channel as yours, or, as many subs. But, im having fun with it, so, that's what counts for me! Stay well, Sir, and God bless you! 😊❤👍

Outstanding project (as usual)! I liked seeing the process as to how you made them stack and eliminated the mortise. I bet you have something in mind for the "24 quarters" left when you cut out the six blanks? Thanks.

One of those spammers commented on my last comment. I called them a spammer and reported asap. Lots of channels get them. Sad, huh?
I hope you had a wonderful time time with family on Thanksgiving.

My papa used to do woodwork and I'm looking to pick it up myself so I can make handcrafted gifts. Would cherry wood and purple heart be good for this project do you think?

    • @RHumphrey
      @RHumphrey  ปีที่แล้ว

I think both would look great, Autumn. Cherry is one of my favorite woods to turn, and PH is one of the most durable.

Welcome back to woodturning Rod as that's where you belong. However, I'm somewhat disturbed that you are making dice trays. That's the first step on the road to gambling and many young men such as you are easily drawn into it. I can tell you from personal experience that it's the road to nowhere so I urge you to stop right now.😀.
