- Hi everyone!
Here's the video I promised about how I do my PIO shots myself. I hope these tips with be helpful for you all. If you have to do these I hope this inspires you that you can do it! It's ok to be scared (i mean those needles are HUGE) but once you start doing it you'll be impressed with what you can do. I hope this video help you feel more confident when ti comes to these types of shots.
No matter how you do PIO shots (your' husband, yourself, with numbing or without) you are doing a great job and helping to prepare your body to be a wonderful place for your embryo to implant and develop!

Age: me 34, my husband 36
Started trying to conceive in October 2013
Tried several natural remedies: nutrition, supplements, acupuncture
Testing in 2016: told we had unexplained infertility
March 2018: reevaluated and told had low AMH and low antral follicle count
Told IUI with orals and injectable medications would be our next step
June 2018, started IUI procedures
Did a total of 4 IUI with no success or any pregnancy
October told IVF was our next step
Started medications for IVF 12/27/18
Egg retrieval on 1/19/19
Got 13 eggs, 8 mature, 5 fertilized with ICSI
(1) 5-day blast transferred on 3/15/19, failed
(2) 6-day blast frozen to be transferred on 8/12/19

God that's extremely painful. Seeing you all gives that much courage to do it for wife. Just hope the painful experience goes off soon. You guys are god taking it twice a day 🙏🙏
I just gave myself my first shot using your video as a guide. It was much easier than I had though. Didn't hurt at all. The heating pad really helped too. Thanks for that idea.
I use ice first then my hubby does the shot most times I don't feel it at all. Then numb cream after shot then I use heating pad. I have no soreness or pain. I have been doing PIO shot for almost 6 weeks now and I think I have only felt maybe 3 shots. But like you said perfectly you do what works for you.

I just did my first progesterone compound last night at 1am in my thigh 1ml and I woke up not really being able to walk and also for most of the day felt achy and feverish 🥺
My wife is having a lot of pain after the shot. Like the medicine is burning like 30 min after each shot. She also feels nausea. Is that normal?
Hi. I’m on my 5th day of this shot and my husband does it, and yes, it does hurt after 30mins but not burning pain. Maybe your wife is confused with burning pain and the pain of the oil itself? Does she also feel the pain when sitting down?

Hallo Bonnie. My Doctor gave me progesterone without oil to inject in my tummy. I neglected to ask, but he told me to inject in my tummy? And idea why?
Girl I’m so nervous about the shots. I hate needles. I’m gonna try your method though. I have numbing cream on standby if I need it
No shame in numbing cream. Like I said whatever help you get through them. But for me I was encouraged by how easy they were compared to what I though my it would. Also, I feel like you get sense of accomplishment when you can get through them (again however that looks 😊). Hope my method can be of some help!

What if u insict the needle and then pull back to see if there is blood what should you do??

My clinic doesn’t teach to pull back to check for blood ( they didn’t tell me too so I just don’t 🤷🏻♀️) and I bleed probably half of the time 😂 last night it legit squirted out onto my counter it was sooo crazy😂 ( I have it recorded) also your sooo like slow and step by step. I’m just like let’s go get it over with and it literally takes me like 1 minute to do. I’m just like draw it up, clean, landmark once ( not much poking and making sure) and go!! 😂😂😂 paper towel in the pants for blood if there is any, no rubbing. Haha totally different approaches I just hate it so I do it fast to get it over with.
I also agree I’d way rather do it myself, I’ve done all of mine. My husband also can’t deal ( I’m sure if he had to he would) but he doesn’t even like watching so with that and me actually preferring to do it I do all of mine as well!
Haha!! I like your method! Just get it done 👍 I was more slow in video than I am in real life though. Trying to make sure I explained everything. But it’s still a process. 😂

Can you use ice to numb the area before injection.
Yes, that’s what I been using just ice and heating pad for after the shots. Now, I’m switching to lidocaine cream 4% or higher from a local pharmacy before shots
Did you using lidokain during pregnancy? is it ok?
How come you have to do your shot twice today Bonnie?
That is what my doctors prescribes on the days leading up to the transfer, but after transfer I’m at just 1 shot every morning.
Bonnie what size of the needle you had used for the injection of your PIO?
