I'm a 58 year old gay man and this film brought joy, lightness and tears to my eyes; just wonderful to see a light and lovely film featuring two gay characters who live happily ever after (as opposed to dying horribly or suffering or separating miserably) ... just delightful and uplifting!
The world needs more people like Matthew! I loved watching this interview and his idea about bringing something that is real to the world. I do believe that this was one of the most important ingredients for all the love the movie is receiving! ❤
The way Matthew write the screenplay was brilliant... hail to the Matthew and his brilliant ideas!! 🙌🙌🙌 it was the compact version of all the best dialogues and events. I just started the book but Matthew's lines and scenes are much better, energetic and vibrant than the book.❤

I reached to chapter 14 and everything in movie was much more emotional. for ex paris scene/ lake house scene/ the things Alex said to Henry after stormed into castle/ the scene Alex and Henry rush in eachother's arms on the stairs.... everything is much more profound and deep and sad in Matthew's lines and scenes.... He is truely an Artist!!
@@merlinarthur4072 Also I like movie more since they behave more mature in it. in book (despite being said they are 21 and 22) all the lines and acts described them so childish. Had I not seen the movie, I would probably imagine them highschoolers in my head while reading book.
@@Rey.89 facts. I remember the book being sorta childish and try-to-hard, if that makes sense. The movie had a more beautiful balance between humour and feelings.
This movie has affected me so deeply that no previous one has ever come as close. Want to see the extended version. And the alternate takes. And a movie about the making of this movie. And the recipe for the cake that we can force homophobic bakeries to make.

I've seen some people who are surprised by this movie that male-male sex can do missionary, so I guess he's successful 😄
This movie is the greatest BL Movie ever made
Perez and Galitzine are wonderful in this film. Much has been said about their chemistry, which is palpable. But neither actor has shown as much heart or honesty in their other work. The difference is the sensitivity of the creative team. Director Matthew Lopez and cinematographer Stephen Goldblatt give them a glowing jewel box to inhabit. With the addition of the intimacy coordinator, Robbie Taylor Hunt, the intensity of the characters' relationship materializes on screen. You sense that there was pride and love coming from all departments and that that provided a platform which allowed the two lead actors to become two lead characters that make us laugh and cry and love them. Cynics have attacked the film for not being what they want or think it should be, but that is short-sighted. The achievement of RW&RB is that it is completely what it sets out to be -- a smiling act of hope and love.
