  • The 'Old' Vaynor Church dates back to 1295 making it 725 years old. It sits derelict in the woods close to the 'New' Church.
The 'New' Vaynor Church was completed in 1870 and was paid for by Richard Thompson Crawshay who was then buried at the church in 1879.
Cae Burdydd, also known as field of slaughter, is a burial mound that dates back 1291 and sits just above the old church. It is documented that many soldiers were buried there after the Battle of Maesyfaenor.

In Merthyr and Cefn it was always said that when Crawshay died the epitaph "God Forgive Me" on his tombstone had the words "Too Late You Old Bastard" added in paint shortly afterwards.
