Yep paint the one side of the receiver stick pink and the other green and the paint everything that matches that ball paint the whole tongue ....saves on knee caps when the trailer is disconnected too.....dont ask me how i know
Here's a tip Shawn the next time something like that happens. In between your back axle and rear gate use jacks or blocks as stand offs and block your wheels and you can unload whatever you have on your trailer.
Great video! Thanks for showing how disastrous a little complacency could've been. A little laziness added in there and it would've been ( I don't need the chains, I'm just doing the setup video ). I would guess most of us have been guilty of these from time to time but to actually keep it on the video as a lesson learned is what seperates you from so many lawncare and other channels. I noticed you didn't mention you extending your trailer gate which I think was a very important modification to the trailer. I hope this comment doesn't come off as negative as it seems very critical but I don't mean it that way. Great job going over everything and now I guess it's time for you guys to do laundry... Take care!
Whew!!! Praise the good Lord you guys didn't get hurt or mess anything up!! Unfortunately stuff like that happens but you are so right when you say don't be in such a hurry that you forget to check thing's!! 👍 Great collection of tools and great video guys!!! 🤗 Stay safe love you guys!! 💕
I agree with the color code suggestion. If you have all different size hookups. Not always cost effective to switch all the tongues to one size if whether you have the money or not to do so. And no the hitch is not used as a ground for the trailer lights, that's all included in the wiring connected to the lighting. And savannahs reaction to that last comment was priceless.
Maybe paint the hitch ball base round the a balls bright colors. Neon green for one, neon pink for another (your company colors), and black on the landscaping hitches. Maybe paint the top of the ball cups on the trailers with corresponding colors. Green trailer hitch does not go on the pink or black hitch ball side of the hitch. Could come in handy if you ever get employees, your dad or eventually the kids move a trailer. All hitches and trailers on your equipment could be done the same way. When the tailgate is in place during summer, whoever is driving could see in the camera that the colors are not the same. You may have an idea later in the video, but I wanted to type this as soon as I saw you get into the truck after reattaching and "changing clothes". I am currently paused at only at the 5:32 mark of the video. 🤔
well I can say we have done that loading and unloading a trailer. My dad back a tractor off of his tailer and that happened. We had it happen with a car coming off too. Its scary to see, but when nothing gets damaged its a huge relief. You guys stay safe out there, God Bless
It's surprising that a small difference in size of the ball's it allows it to come right off instead of just jumping around and being loose. It's always a good idea to check the locking mechanism on the tongue. You can adjust it to be a little tighter with a socket and you only need to do it once. After the newness wears off they tend to get unnoticeably loose. It's unnoticed because of the tongue weight. Don't over tighten it just snug it up a little. Once you've done it you will notice that it's quieter when you go over bumps. I agree that you should check your balls or you may need to check your shorts.
Great video, that happened to me a while back twice. The time I was loading the trailer with zero turn, it went straight up and down, the 2nd I tried to move more than I should the trailer went forward and caught the back of my tailgate it didn’t go the way through. So my sure it’s lock on the ball, thanks for sharing. Thanks
Spencer PSA “check your balls”. Awesome 2023 set up. Would love to see you highlight the Qwikchute that you guys use and it would be awesome if you have a discount code. Thank you!
I will be ordering from defender for my trailer this spring and definitely through your link! Can’t wait! So tired of all the stuff in the bed of my truck, thank you for showing that product on your last few videos!
Good Catch Shawn that could have been a lot Worse I did that Many Years ago Hauling 28 Railroad Ties I Was driving down the back roads to a Customers house and the Latch Wasn't properly locked in place it Popped off But Lucky I had a Wheel on My Jack Stand and I Was Lucky enough to One gather My thoughts and Hurry Up because Cars and Trucks Wip around the roads Not knowing I'm There but Luckily I had Put My 4Ways on and Put down 2 Orange Cones I lowered My Jack Stand Put it in Place and Wheeled that Trailer back on the Ball After that Week I Switched to a Pindle Ball Hook Up with 3 different Settings 👍
Tape around the side and top of the balls, then paint all around the neck of the balls different colors…maybe use your favorite color on the one y’all use the most….when y’all go to hookup any of your trailers, looking down at the colors will be a reminder … if you leave the sides and the tops of the balls free of paint , they will stay clean and free of dirt also making good contact between truck and trailer…the paint would wear off anyway…
I put jack stands at the back end of my trailer. Although the jack stands in this case would have kept the trailer from popping off in the driveway. And then pop off on the road. So I guess always double check the ball size.
Small piece of advice: mandatory trailer drivers license in Denmark includes the knowledge how to verify a correct coupling between trailer and towing vehicle: After fully connecting you again wind down the nose wheel/support until you have proven that the towed vehicle is being lifted through the coupling…. If you fail to demonstrate this knowledge…..you fail your driver’s license test.
We run pintle hitches on everything from 3500lb trailers all the way to the 14k trailers. When you have employees you have to keep it simple and uniform. Might want to consider doing that to all your rigs. Makes stuff almost bullet proof. You either know your hooked up or not
I'm so glad no one/salt spreader got hurt/damaged!!! When you have a lot on your mind and hard to remember everything... As always be safe and praying for family and friends 🙏🙏🙏
Good video man but I’m surprised you like those 94r’s. Had nothing but issues with mine from not starting mainly and being severely underpowered. But they are lightweight!
I did this one time last year and was looking up in the sky almost 90 degrees I backed up slowly and BANG it came down so hard, no damage very scary but a good learning experience for me, lovely setup this year yall good luck this season
Get two prop stands for the rear of your trailer it will prevent that ever happening again colour code hitch to ball create a list of daily checks before you leave the house it will help to prevent accidents great video
Dangerous! That happened to me once years ago at my old job, I forgot to lock the receiver onto the ball I was in the hurry as soon as I drove mower up it the whole front end of the trailer flew upward luckily the chain was on, it also ran forward a little bit and dented the tailgate on the shop truck 😳
That’s the main reason why I dislike the ball hitches and we stay with the Pintle hitches when they’re locked in their locked in thank goodness no one got hurt and God bless you guys
I had my trailer pop off the ball when I hit a bump in the road. The trailer fell to the ground and the hitch went thru the wall of the trailer. All the weight shifted to the front of the trailer so I wasn't able to pick it up. So I had to get 3 men to stand on the back behind the trailer ramp to give enough weight in the back to lighten up the front to get back on the ball.
Oh my that was close. Thank goodness everything is ok! Awesome rescue! Good job Sean. Now you can relax!! Yes always check the balls on the hitch. Take care Kids!🙏😀💜💚😍 God Bless! enjoyed viedo!
Don’t feel bad. I can’t even count how many times I’ve tipped a trailer when loading mowers. I know it’s probably wrong but when the trailer tips, I just send it
Wait I just watched you guys yesterday take the salt spreader off? Is TH-cam out-of sequence? Yeah that could have been disastrous. It's happened to me with the big 4wd john deere tractor. I'm like I know i didnt change the receiver, it was the husband..I wish they would make everything 2 inch standard. I have the 3 balls on one too. Where's the detailing on your new truck? In my state you gotta have the llc and mdot numbers on your vehicles for transporting.
😂😂😂😂. TQ done went and cracked up at your remark. Lol. That was hilarious. I’ve made that same mistake Shawn. I think a lot of us have when we’ve hooked to different types of trailers. Excellent video showing the safety and convenience you all practice. Looked like a beautiful day up there today. It was here in Wv. Also. Just pretty cool though. Y’all keep up the great work!!!
Done that before. Went to the rental place to pick up a skid loader for my boss. Drove 45 minutes down the highway and when I went to drop it off I realized what was wrong. I learned to check every time after that
If you were to spray paint a color onto the ball and nut then paint the same color on the corresponding tongue, it would be a good visual reminder. But twice in 11 years prolly doesn't warrant that. Great video
I had that happen to me twice once when I was working for the city. My supervisor was driving the mower and my crew was supposed to secure the trailer and I didn't check it. Oops. Second time it was secured and made it all the way to my site and when I took it off it came off and I was solo. Stopped made a game plan to just run with it dented and scratched my tailgate.
You should paint each ball a different color and match that color to the item that is towed.
Yep paint the one side of the receiver stick pink and the other green and the paint everything that matches that ball paint the whole tongue ....saves on knee caps when the trailer is disconnected too.....dont ask me how i know
Great idea
Don't you need the ball to have clean metal for ground?
@@Neeko_110 not a bad idea at all
That’s a great idea especially for employees
Here's a tip Shawn the next time something like that happens. In between your back axle and rear gate use jacks or blocks as stand offs and block your wheels and you can unload whatever you have on your trailer.

New lawn care rule!!! 2023 ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BALLS 😂😂😂😂
Just get ALL the hitch couplers the same size!
I recently did the same thing. Glad the chains were hooked up. Glad you guys didn't get hurt, or damage anything
I see TQ’s pink trimmer is still holding up. It’s nice to see how far your setup has come and can’t wait for the upcoming 2023 videos! Great vid!
You are a lots of help for a handicap woman have a great day.
Whew!!! Praise the good Lord you guys didn't get hurt or mess anything up!!
Unfortunately stuff like that happens but you are so right when you say don't be in such a hurry that you forget to check thing's!! 👍
Great collection of tools and great video guys!!! 🤗
Stay safe love you guys!! 💕
This is a great video! You should offer it to Toro for an ad. Y'all did a good job of filming.
Raw and uncut Truth of real life situations .....keeping it Real 💪🏾👊🏾
I still want to see TQ reach the unlocking lever on the new trimmer racks.

Awesome 2023 set up!!!
More crazy stuff from the Spencer's.
Make it easier, swap coupler on log splitter to 2 5/16”. Take risk away

Sounds like you did the correct thing by removing the plows. Looking at morning weather looks like your area is getting snow later in the week.

Joe A I was going to say the same thing paint each ball a different color or get colored stickers...great idea
I love how tq went from freaked out to immature 😂😂 check your balls boys 🤣🤣
Hoping it's a Scag unit 🙏
Don’t get to comfy cold fronts and lots of rain coming in ! Spring fever is real
Spencer PSA “check your balls”. Awesome 2023 set up. Would love to see you highlight the Qwikchute that you guys use and it would be awesome if you have a discount code. Thank you!
Awesome set up awesome video have a great upcoming Thursday
Good video Sean God bless keep up the good work
Sure glad you didn't have a disaster great supplement awesome equipment hope you all have awesome mowing season
You guys are one of my favorite husband and wife team. I been watching you for years great job as always stay blessed

Glad nothing got broke and no one got hurt! I think we have all done something similar .
That was a close one! Y’all inspire me to do better for my business 💪
You should get the labels from sure can and use them on your cans
Very Nice

sweet set up ;)
Can you buy the gas container with the brackets and do you have a locking place for the backpacke to keep them locked?
The only paint that we do is orange for 2 and 5/16 inch ball, and blue for 2” ball
Gahh, I've done that. Thought I was hooked to the truck, thought nothing of it & drove up like I've done a million times....that was one wild ride!
We run pintle hitches on everything from 3500lb trailers all the way to the 14k trailers. When you have employees you have to keep it simple and uniform. Might want to consider doing that to all your rigs. Makes stuff almost bullet proof. You either know your hooked up or not
Definitely something we will consider down the road.
Maybe color code the different size balls! Green and pink !!
We had snow today. So stay prepared for a few more weeks.
I'm so glad no one/salt spreader got hurt/damaged!!! When you have a lot on your mind and hard to remember everything... As always be safe and praying for family and friends 🙏🙏🙏
Hi friends enjoyed the video have a day love from TEXAS
Nice set up. Ready to rock and roll.
Great setup for 2023! Y’all were blessed averting that trailer disaster today.😮 Have a great evening SLC!💯❤️👍🏾💜🙋🏽♀️✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
Good video man but I’m surprised you like those 94r’s. Had nothing but issues with mine from not starting mainly and being severely underpowered. But they are lightweight!

Great videos like always! Thank you so much fam for the encouragement, motivation and wisdom.
By April we should see Spring making an entrance. Growing season is just a few weeks away.
Get two prop stands for the rear of your trailer it will prevent that ever happening again colour code hitch to ball create a list of daily checks before you leave the house it will help to prevent accidents great video
also may want to look at a spring assist .... used to be able to lift my gate with my foot
One of the many reasons we went to ramp trucks. No regrets.
I like how y’all show mistakes along with all of the success. Y’all have always said that and still do. Keep up the great content!
Omg. it happens and glad nothing damage. nice setup. what type of the tools for the trailer? broom, rake, hedge shovel and what else?
Hey TeamSpencer, great video as always, and I am glad nothing got damaged.
Sand down shovel handles to keep from splinters....
Just change everything to the 2 5/16 to avoid any problems in the future.
I done that recently. I now have to replace the logo embalm on the back of my truck.
Always informative and great to see how you handle mishaps as well. I really enjoy your videos, especially the mowing, trimming, and mulching ones.
I think it going to be toro grandstand hdx 72”
It’s a good thing you wasn’t going down the road and it come off. What kind of receiver is that .
B&W tow and stow receiver
Great how that video was put together, shame the tow hitches aren’t all the same sizes
Lmao I hate when I forget to put the pin, it also goes up when I ride the mower. Gets me mad for forgetting 🤣
Reminds me of a friend that has a FULL TIME JOB just keeping site in all the tires.
Dangerous! That happened to me once years ago at my old job, I forgot to lock the receiver onto the ball I was in the hurry as soon as I drove mower up it the whole front end of the trailer flew upward luckily the chain was on, it also ran forward a little bit and dented the tailgate on the shop truck 😳
That’s the main reason why I dislike the ball hitches and we stay with the Pintle hitches when they’re locked in their locked in thank goodness no one got hurt and God bless you guys
need to leave note in the truck when the different size ball is in use🤣
That would make a great bumper sticker! Check your Balls!
Had me rolling man 😂
I had my trailer pop off the ball when I hit a bump in the road.
Good work guys love the video's
Great video the trailer looks great!
It happens
Would u recommend buying the b&w hitch in a 2 ball or would u get all 3 ball sizes
Oh my that was close. Thank goodness everything is ok! Awesome rescue! Good job Sean. Now you can relax!! Yes always check the balls on the hitch. Take care Kids!🙏😀💜💚😍 God Bless! enjoyed viedo!
Awesome video thanks for sharing glad everything was fine
Sounds like the grandstand with the bagger is low on oil. Might wanna check it or add some.
That’s just how kohlers sound. Probably a worn camshaft.
@@jeffgootjes8418 every time ours makes that sound we ether change the oil or just add some an it goes away.
We've all done it Shawn. I've even thought about switching my 12 foot trailer to 2 5/16 so I don't have to switch
Don’t feel bad. I can’t even count how many times I’ve tipped a trailer when loading mowers. I know it’s probably wrong but when the trailer tips, I just send it
We have pintle loops on all our trailers. Easier when you have multiple trailers and trucks.
I have done that before!!!!
Just a thing for next time always put your blocks length wise cuz your trailer will roll forward or back usually before side to side!
Shawn actually your trailer hauls less than 7000 pounds the 7000 pounds is the total with equipment on it cause each axle is rated at 3500 pounds
I don't see the trimmer line on the trailer
You got to check that stuff
❤️ Thank you for taking me along great video God-bless yous From Michigan 27゚ 11:20 PM Frosty skies
Done that before. Went to the rental place to pick up a skid loader for my boss. Drove 45 minutes down the highway and when I went to drop it off I realized what was wrong. I learned to check every time after that

In Australia we only stay at 1 size hitch ball for all our trailers that's 2 inch
That was a close call
Get that 72in for them commercials
me personally i would have blocked the trailer tires locked the brakes on trailer to get some room between the 2 then drop trailer and rehooked
