I think this is a great idea. Love the name. For developers getting started, this is exactly what you should do, build something you need. It doesn't change as you get more experienced, and opening yourself up to learning and being happy to grow is just fantastic! As always, I look forward to the journey.
Nice video. Just something I noticed. The family app when swiping is not changing the colors. It actually plays with the transparency of the swipe action. I love this early staged series, helps me a lot to understand how to start.
Ah super good call out, thank you! You have a good eye haha I plan on doing a lot more stuff like this so if you ever see anything I missed please let me know :)
Hey Chris, cool idea! I wanted to throw my two cents into this project if you don't mind. I am personally on the market for a budgetting app and the biggest I have is that all of them are so expensive. I can't justify spending $100-$200 a year on a tool that I want to use to just track by budgets (that kind of bad budgeting to me lol). I would recommend trying to figure out a way to build free or a low cost fixed price tier to your application that allows users to still use the important stuff in the app without breaking the budget or worrying about privacy concerns either. Maybe provide an option for users to self-host that way you can reduce costs? Just throwing the idea out there. Excited to see where this project goes!
I don't comment a lot but thank you for your videos I am looking forward to your next videos in general and Luna app videos you really inspire me as a developer
@@raroque I don't know how to code mobile apps so I've chosen to go the PWA route. It still requires a load of testing and polishing but it's called Cashout! I'd love to share the vercel link here but like I said, it's not done yet :)
I am also curious about how you designed your logo, assets, design system. As a solo developer do you also need to have some graphic design skills ? That’s where I struggle the most in my projects tbh
Logo for this actually came from my girlfriend, super fortunate that she was already making stickers of our dog so I had something I could use. Can def make a video about assets (mostly free illustrations from sites like Ouch by Icons8 and icons from Hero icons or react-icons). Also been experimenting with midjourney/GPT to generate custom illustrations that fit the aesthetic, graphics/illustrations are def the hardest part No real design system, most stuff just made from scratch copying good things I find online :)
Love it man! I always thought a UI idea that takes advantage of the "Money envelope" techniques YNAB uses would be really cool. Like an interactive way to drag a "Money card" UI into a specific envelope for budgeting. Like more of a gamified experience. What do you think?
I don't unfortunately! But if you take a look at project management software like Jira, Trello, Notion, or just Kanban boards in general, they utilize that card hold and drag interaction to move it to different categories. I'd have to imagine it working similarly to that, only with gamified graphics to go along with it, and some more haptic feedback to make a user feel good about setting money aside. @@raroque
Cool video! New subscriber here 🤗 Hopefully this Luna will be available in different intl countries as well, with all different currencies too!! 😃 Godspeed!
The app is really well designed and I like where this is going ( but plz make a dark theme :> ) I'm an Ellie user and I really like your UI/UX design style, I know this will be even better than Ellie :D (at 4:05 I read tax fraud xd that was sus :>)

Appreciate the perspective here! Will try to keep this in mind once I get to the pricing part. I have some interesting ideas in mind for this :)
That initial design is dope
thank you! :)
Woah great Idea cant wait for all the videos and progress!!!!!
Can't wait to show you what I have planned! :)
Thank you for sharing this journey from the start! Great inspiration for budding iOS developers!
Absolutely! If there is anything I can showcase that would be helpful let me know :)
thank you, hoping on a bright future! can't wait to use that app myself

Appreciate that! Excited to get this out for you guys to try :)

whoa i love that! i want to build something to help me budget as well tbh
You should do it! 👀
So cool! For the number entry screen do you use a pod or an external library for the animated number entry or is it custom code?
Completely custom :)
(was very painful haha)
Really love this!
Thanks for watching! :)

Hello Chris, love the work you’re doing.
Is a lifetime membership for all your apps a bad idea to consider?
Not at all! Do you mean lifetime for each one? Or one single lifetime to grant access to all my apps? :)
@@raroque either or

For sure! Will add it in before public launch :) would love to have you try it
Also add Jamaican dollar too
When you build a platform focused on micro interactions you get this guy (How is Apple winning 🤔🤔🤔🤔)
You’re not wrong 😅
After building this app, I can say confidently apple made is too easy to add great (and performant) interactions
