Today Sunday June 25th,2023 and I’m here again to enjoy this nice masterpiece. Show some love if you’re reading this in future. Much love from Kumasi Ghana 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭
Kanda took the music rumba from Kinshasa, tinkered with it by varying the rhythm and speeding it up, but there was no mistaking him for a new-age noodler or wannabe rocker. He earned his popularity by sticking to what he knew best. And for Kanda fidelity to the distinctly Zaïrean style begot success. Joe Boyd, the owner of London-based Hannibal Records, caught one of Kanda's shows in London 'and was just knocked out.' He tracked the singer down in Paris and worked out a licensing agreement to release Kanda's music on Hannibal in the United Kingdom and the United States. Boyd repackaged Malinga and an earlier work, Amour Fou, by selecting tracks from each and issuing them as Amour Fou/Crazy Love in 1987. He repeated the process in 1989, combining Lela-Lela and Sai-Liza into a Hannibal release called Kwasa Kwasa. Boyd's interest led to Kanda's successful North American tour in 1989, which included an appearance at the prestigious New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. By then, however, Diblo had departed. His work with Aurlus Mabele had helped win a Maracas d'Or, and in Loketo he would be co-leader. Both Diblo and Kanda had prospered from their collaboration. But after recording Sai-Liza each went his own way.
So much energy, synergy, musicianship, artistry, choreography and the man’s endless charismatic stage presence … entertainment at its magical best that blows the pandemic blues away every time I listen to Kanda Bongo Man. 🙏❤️🙏
I love Kanda's songs well done Bongo Man, my memories when i was young i used to wear a black shade and my neighbours used to tell me '''' u look like kanda bongo man '''' it was fun and still sounds new.
During this time of covid19 this are my songs to listen to remember my people who had passed away with corona virus and thank God for keeping me safe .
As I was watching this video, I took note of two prominent guys on the instruments: Daly Kimoko on the Lead Guitar if am not mistaken and the Remy Ngua Sahlomon on the Bass Guitar... Cerrect me if am wrong. Also tell me the name of the guy on the Drums.
ha!
My childhood right here... 2019 and still going strong. No gym needed just have a mirror before you then blast Kanda's songs. By the time you are done with the marathon you will lose weight... 😂 😂 😂 😂 I love these old school songs. It shows me my dad introduced me to quality songs before I even knew how to even speak 😂 😂 😂 😂
Today on August 1, 2024. I am watching this masterpiece. Much love from the mighty Amhara ethnic of Ethiopia. We Amharas are known for the Ethiopian language “Amharic” with its alphabet and of course the Amhara kings who defended Ethiopia from colonization. The likes of king Minelik, Jah Rastafarai Haile sellasse lion of Judah… in which we fight for 400 years alone cuz our brothers were in captives… hence the our brothers saw the Ethiopian victory and started using similar flags like Ethiopia 🇪🇹 . I write this as the Amharas are facing genocide by other Ethiopians after we’ve payed that price for not just Ethiopia but also Africa. We Amharas are seen as pan Africanist so the west makes sure we don’t come back to power. much love brothers of Africa
When I was 9 .. I used to dancing this song in every holiday our aunts pick us and went to the bar having fun around the street... Much respect to Congolese era!!! I love you all my parents also aunts..... Here from Tanzania
Owe you one huge thank you and kia ora henkrut. This is the original dance of FUN. I have the Man on a cd but never thought I would be able to watch. Party party party...
I remember these songs when I was young when my brother in law love to organize parties with munkoyo was for young ones and kachaso was the main bear for old ones
