If this is plastic material it is not a proper installation I believe. The specs for plastic call for allowance for 1/4 inch of expansion and contraction. When you staple it in, the sun can warp this stuff to the point where mine broke and jumped the frame track. Please let me know if perhaps the newer plastics do not need this mfgr specified expansion allowance as mentioned on the label of every section I purchased a few years ago.? They specify to drill oversized holes and use screws and do not overtighten to allow for expansion. Thanks.
Yup. I love the vinyl stuff but expansion and contraction is a lot.Need tokeep thst inmind when installing. Just like vinyl siding. Put this overtop a wood frame and the wood swells up in the winder when it gets wet and frozen, opening up miter joints around the deck.
Although I appreciate you taking the time to film and upload, it would help if you'd answer some of the questions posted earlier. Having some of the same questions is one of the main reasons we come to DIY videos.
yes considering the frost heave 1" at the ground and the pier for the deck which prevent the deck itself from moving, allowance for this should be made either by suspension from the ground the entire lattice structural support system or a slip trim at the top such as using trailer skirting trim for it . which is what we use.
Great job! Just curious, it looks like the 2x4s were into or touching the ground. If you are in NJ aren't you worried about them heaving in winter or rotting from touching the soil. I am in Canada and just starting a Trex deck with lattice underneath and trying to figure out the best framing for it. Thanks for showing your method. Much appreciated.
You should be fine with the 2x4 touching the ground as long as it's ground contact rated pressure treated... I usually put the vertical 2x4s into the ground a couple inches but then the the horizontal braces I nail between the vertical pieces up 3 or 4 inches up off the ground, even ground contact Pressure Treated lumber will eventually disintegrate
I've done a lot of lattice and built a lot of decks The problem I have often is that once the temperature gets warmer the lattice bows and gets wavy. Do you have a solution for that?
I was wanting to see a bit more detail .. not many videos with high deck and skirting under the stairs.... did you use a 2x4 in the ground when building the frame? .. or how did you get the vertical 2x4s to stay level until you made the bottom of the frame?
Should have packed out the banner board or routed a channel in the azek with the table saw for the lattice to go inside of so the 1x4 upright pieces of azek dont stick out past the banner board. Would have been much cleaner.
Don't spin your tapcons... you're just weakening their hold. I find it best to hand tighten these, or carefully w your driver on lowest setting/soft trigger...
Yes that is the smallest holes on lattice sorry it took long to respond btw we made a new channel it’s called clean cut renovation solutions press the white logo
I like the idea of putting the screening behind the lattice and I like the square lattice a lot better than the diagonal. Thanks!
Awsome job guys!
Wow you guys are right down the road from me. Good job guys.
Love the idea with the screen. thanks for the video

I read the same thing you mentioned, that was the first thought I had while watching this.

And you need to install it with screws, not nails

Looks great! I need y’all in TX 😀👍
Client should have asked you to install a door/gate so they could use the area under the stairs for storage.
I am doing a gate under my deck with lattice. Actually, I am replacing the one I put in 22 years ago.

Teamwork I recommend all of you.
best lattice job on youtube

Love great job
It says on the placic lattice not to use nails from air gun. At least on mine

Looks great. exactly what I was looking to do on my new Timbertech Deck. Is that lattice the smallest size square available?

@@Jfkmetglaz thanks. Will check out your other site
Can you list out all the materials you used? This lattice square pattern is exactly what I'm looking for
Google Home Depot square vinyl lattice. They come in a 4’x8’ sheet for about $38.
Nice tip with the black screening.

What I got out of this video.... bring two extra guys with their own tools, and the job goes much faster :)
Did you guys use pressure treated right on the ground? And I also say it looked like wooden stakes?
Yes by the way our channel has moved. It is Clean Cut renovation solutions the white logo. See you there. Thanks.
That flimsy screen won't keep any critters out. I mouse can chew through that.
Good job 👍

Top Notch Job!
Curious, will an 18 gauge pin nailer penetrate the lattice? Thanks
I think any nailer would but the plastic needs room to move otherwise it will warp with the air temp fluctuations. and the sun.
what kind of mesh did you put behind it?
screen mesh
A screen!

Do chipmunks try to chew through that black mesh?
