As always this was a masterclass in interpretation and it was beautifully expressed. One thing I wanted to mention is the scar. The thief in Haegeum doesn’t actually have a scar. One theory is that he doesn’t have a scar because this is not Agust D but Yoongi or Suga. Yoongi talked about this album possibly being the last under the persona of Agust D in his interview on IU’s Pallet. In the MV we see that the scar which the detective bares, is pale and faded unlike the freshly formed livid red scar in Daechwita. This indicates that considerable time has passed since the initial injury. When you realise the origin of the scar (Amygdala MV), it’s progressive healing suggests that Yoongi himself is, over time, healing from his traumas. I think the fact that the thief doesn’t bare the scar suggest that by Haegeum, Yoongi has released the Agust D persona from the “dark room” of his memories; from his Amygdala. The Agust D persona which was created by trauma and represented Yoongi’s anger has been saved and Yoongi no longer needs this alter ego as he has forgiven and let go of anger.
Regarding smoking scenes i feel like people are interpreting Yoongi's words from documentary in a wrong way. I think he wasn't trying to "lift a ban" for idols to smoke or other bad behaviors/habits, after all there are much more clearly unhamful things that idols in real life get serious hate on like dating or their looks, it would make more sense to address smth like that instead. It was about an idol smoking in an MV specifically, you know how actors can do whatever in movies it won't be questioned but K-pop MVs and performances are always very GP friendly, they won't have much graphic scenes and even blur tattoos. So I think Yoongi was trying to show such things as an idol playing a character in an MV.
Finally, someone said this! I’m really glad I found this comment! But, I also have a silly question to make. Could you please explain, what does “GP friendly” means? 😅
