    I definitely see difference between 144hz and 240hz, on my 60hz monitor... on youtube 30 fps video.

    • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 5 ปีที่แล้ว +485

      You can see ghosting (as it’s more shutter speed on the camera than fps). If at one moment you see 7 images vs 5, then you know the one with the fewer duplicate images is better. You know how Windows by default has the pointer trail, it’s like that, and on a bad monitor you can disable pointer trailing and it still shows up since it’s just the monitor ghosting, it’s particularly aweful in racing games and fps where you’ll see phantom images of where something was that just moved fast, TVs have a HUGE issue with this, it’s brain hurting and a headache after a while and just looks bad! So actually, even a still camera shot can show it, so assuming your monitor didn’t have any ghosting (otherwise then yeah, unless you paused the video since it’s then your monitor ghosting and not the one filmed), then you can still see some differences (like color accuracy), since those are not FPS related.
      I lolled when I say “can you hear the difference between a $499 and _____ piano?”, because yeah, cheapo headphones won’t show a difference, and they didn’t even test in the same building! My goodness! If you played the million dollar piano in a basement it’s going to sound like crap when it’s not, it’s not like ceilings and room geometry for theaters are designed for good accustoms, oh wait, they are... that’s one of those cases where it really is a stupid comparison.

    • @Xfade81
      @Xfade81 5 ปีที่แล้ว +226

      tl:dr you can still see the smearing and ghosting in the recording.

    • @CheapBastard1988

      At least a 60fps video would be nice. But then their digital storage would fill up at twice the speed🤣. Still I understand they want high resolution video for digital zoom uses but I'd prefer a 1080p60 video to a 4k30 video just like in gaming. It just looks so much smoother and lifelike.

    I finally bit the bullet on replacing my decade old 24/27 inch 1080i screens with modern ones, and for my secondary, I went with a 27 inch sceptre 1080p 144hz.
    I genuinely. cannot. believe. how good it is. It was like $220 and out of the box, the colors are gorgeous, the blacks are deep, no dead pixels, no ghosting, sharp as hell.
    I went with a 32 inch 1080p 164hz curved acer screen for my primary and it was godawful. Terrible colors, muddy sharpness, not very bright, and settings only did a tiny bit to alleviate things. Swapped it for a 32 inch 2k LG 144hz flat screen (also only like $260) and am so much happier. It's just the bigger 2k version of the one tested here, just with zero bezel and an oled display.
    Only thing I hate about the LG is that it has the "wall wart" style power supply, and it's way too goddamn short and REALLY doesn't play nice with my battery backup. Bricks are ABSOLUTELY the way these monitors should be if they want external PSU's

    Considering all I play is ROBLOX, MW2, and Fortnite, I think I'm pretty well off sticking to my 75hz 3ms monitor. It's lightweight which is good for if I have to adjust it for dusting. The bezels are also really thin which I like because then the border of my screen blends in with the background as I focus on my game play. For anyone wondering, it's the Sceptre F22 and it costs about $88 before tax on Amazon. Pretty good monitor for gaming if you're on a budget if you ask me.

    9:03 Should have included a warning: *This "adapter" is potentially DEADLY!*
    The "korean"* Schuko plug has two contact pads on the top and bottom, which are used for ground connection. The included "adapter" only has phase and neutral but no ground. Thus, using this thing you're running a high-powered device without the ground connection that it's protection mechanism *relies on.*
    Also, devices with a Schuko plug expect 230V/50Hz input and the "adapter" (which isn't much an adapter after all) obviously doesn't have any circuity in it to transform that to the american standard of 120V/60Hz, so if one was to use it with a device that can't handle both, that's asking for trouble!
    *actually, it's a german design used in many countries of the EU.

    • @shanez1215
      @shanez1215 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. For the record, most devices made these days have support for 120V-240V at 50-60HZ and will indicate so on their power supply. This means that you can use a standard pin to pin adapter, although if your device has a ground prong, the adapter must have that too.
      If this monitor doesn't even have that, I would strongly advise against it.

      Type F has only two prongs which slot into the wall and on top and bottom small contacts that connect with the plug.

    CE means "conformité européenne" and is only required in the EU. Although it is placed on virtually all devices anywhere in the world as long as it meets certain safety and environmental standards, it is not mandatory in Canada. Still, I wouldn't touch a manufacturer that doesn't put a CE on their devices since it is a self-certification, and not having it pretty much says "We know that we do not even conform to the most basic security standards for electronic products."

    "instead of sourcing multiple different powercords they use all Korean ones"
    *holds up an EU cable*
    welll..... close enough.

      Korea uses the same Type F cords that are also used in some EU countries. There's no such thing as a "EU cable". Well.... close enough, you tried looking smart.

      Type F or Schuko fits in type F, E, K and L meaning of Europe only Britan, ireland and if you have an cable with earth Switzerland is also out.
      rest of Europe you can use an type F\Schuko.
      so it fits in "some" EU countries.
