You're doing a lot to perpetuate the PS. Appreciate your patiently spoon feeding the lessons. This lesson was an epiphany. I really felt good about it because it opened the opportunity to add richness to playing chords and licks that will work in a specific chord. It's not easy but well worth the effort to own the lesson by constant practice and review. Mahalo so much for your omnipresence on TH-cam! Johnny Pal on my ancient Sho~Bud 6140 (late 60's early 70's).
I wish you would put the tuning that you used to play certain songs with it would be nice if everyone would do that atoning makes a difference in what song you play so it would be nice to know what tune your instruments in on the songs you play I have put this out before but no answers and they still don’t post
Hello Aaron, An extremely serious speed picking lesson. In regards to a player such as myself. This lesson is the stuff I have needed. I hope you do more lessons in this area, I have been working on this and it’s helping me out a lot, it’s a real motivator. So thanks for everything you do on Steel Picking. Blessings, and keep Picking.
Ken, your comments are really nice and appreciated. This lesson is intended to help us look at different aspects of our playing. We have technique, natural ability, physical dexterity, and personal preference. As always I think it comes down to what is easiest and sounds good to you. Keep picking! Aaron
Aaron. Man thanks! That's what I've been wanting to learn. Licks like that. Every time I go play in my gospel band they want me to play something super fast. I'll learn that and that sounds awesome. WOW. your better than Mike Johnson. AWESOME!! Thank you.
Aaron I really like how you can string the scale groups together to form a beautiful run up and down the fret board. I will work on these groups so I can try to start joining them into runs. And as always - many thanks for the valuable service you provide for us trying our best to learn this challenging instrument!
James, it is almost like muscle memory. Find a few patterns that are easy for you and work them into your playing. As you progress and learn your fret board licks and patterns will open up.
Yes, on this guitar it was the Franklin pedal, but I split the pedal and knee lever. So, the pedal lowered 5 and 10 to A and I had the 6 lower G# to F# on a knee lever. I have been experimenting with this and currently I don't have this pedal. Keep picking!
Hey, Alex check out the equipment video we have up on our site. In it I go over my guitar and all the other things I am using ie amp effects and so on. Thanks! Aaron
Aaron do you ever use your levers to slur the first note? I like using the E lever to slur the 8th string a lot but I don't know hod qell it works with the speed picking
So true. Some guys are just naturals. Just check out Doug Jernigan. So the rest of us have to do the best we can. That might come down to improving our approach and looking at different ways to play the same lick.
Bob, we have a part two coming soon that will expand on this lesson. These licks are just hard to talk out, but we will work some up soon, so stay tuned.
Jackie, good question. Sorry for assuming everyone knows these things. Most people have a Jimmy Day or Buddy Emmons set up. The Day set has the first pedal raising 4,5 a whole tone the second raising 3,6 a half, and the third pedal raising 5,10 a whole. The Emmons set up has the first and third pedals reversed. My B pedal raises my 5th and 10th strings from B to C#. So it sounds like you have the Day set up. Hope this helps. Aaron
Yes, this is before we recorded with a backing track. Maybe we can revisit this video some day and update it with a matching track. Thank you for your support and keep picking! Aaron

Love your videos. I'm trying to up my game a little. What size and weight tone bar do you recommend for improving speed? Thanks,
th-cam.com/video/NA2aYV7pb88/w-d-xo.html Gary, this link discusses my bars,. Hope it helps. Thanks.
Thank you !!
Great. Thanks.
This is the area I need yhe most work at. I'm getting very comfortable with the slower tunes but anything up tempo I have problems with.
James, it is almost like muscle memory. Find a few patterns that are easy for you and work them into your playing. As you progress and learn your fret board licks and patterns will open up.
Aaron can you tell me what pickups are in your guitar ?
705 on this one

@@SteelPicking Woo hoo! Will do Aaron.

Sounds awesome!! I just started playing and this video has helped me tremendously. Are you using any effect pedals? If so, what kind do you use?
Hey, Alex check out the equipment video we have up on our site. In it I go over my guitar and all the other things I am using ie amp effects and so on.

James, good idea. I can see how that could work. Again what is easier knee are bar.
Thanks! Aaron
It's all subjective like most things I supoose. I guess it spends on if your intonation is spot on when your playing real fast stuff...
So true. Some guys are just naturals. Just check out Doug Jernigan. So the rest of us have to do the best we can. That might come down to improving our approach and looking at different ways to play the same lick.
I wish you would teach the complete "long" runs like at the end!
Bob, we have a part two coming soon that will expand on this lesson. These licks are just hard to talk out, but we will work some up soon, so stay tuned.
When you say B pedal you're hitting what would be a C pedal on my guitar. What's your copedent? I'm very new to steel
