Just a thought. I bought large silicon baking sheets. They are thin enough they shape to the trays so I have sides to keep liquids in till they are freeze dried. It had worked very well for me. I just throw the sheets in the wash when I am done with a load. I might try this sugar free!!
From what the test kitchen site said your pie filling with the wax paper will taste like crayons, make a video about tasting the reconstituted (small samples) pie filling so we will know if the papers leave a taste, what about butcher paper?
