She is just perfect on that video ! I am so glad I could come from France to see her last performance. She's just a wonderful person and the most talented woman I've ever met ! I love you Kerry
Saw her at Appolo Victoria in late 2007 alonside Dianne Pilkington's Glinda when the two of them were at the very top of their game. Magical combination.
I 've seen a lot of musicals in London In the past 18 months and have to say Kerry Ellis in Wicked was the best individual performance of all! Brilliant
Aah me too! Well actually I cried the whole way through it...mainly because I was SO happy to be there but also because of how brilliant Kerry and Dianne were! ^^ hehe I saw it on the 22nd of Dec and I am still raving about it now!
What I love about Kerry's voice is that she has that witchy sound in her voice that we haven't really heard since Margaret Hamilton. Her cackle during the catfight is awesome!!!
I'm an American that flew to London and LOVED her...and I'm also 19...pretty much ending my teen years this year...Eden is my favorite, but Kerry is my second!
well Kerry is currently on broadway and I would travel from Essex in England if I had the money just to see her playing Elphaba she was the first Elphaba I saw and I truly believe she is the best the show is definitely worth travellign to see. hoope ive helped lol
look on my favourites i have one of eden singing this on a morning tv show. they say how good she is, then she sucks. Kerry is amazing, people always say shes nasal, but i think shes just on the edge of nasal, which i love. I love her and everything she does =]
Wow! She is captivating! Idina set an incredible precedent and I will say that Kerry seems to have made it her own! It seems to me that Idina has a more edgy or rebellious acting style in this show which I enjoyed but Kerry's voice is superb!
How can you have just seen her on broadway? She's in London at the moment. I just saw her last week. She was amazing by the way. So amazing in fact that my friends went to see her twice in three days!
@authorit09 i completely agree! although i am slightly biased considering ive only seen kerry perform and not idina. but i love the tone to her voice in defying gravity. its like she's not just an AMAZING singer but she has that great accent.
I firstly didn't understand why she was auditioning for The Voice. She's a legend already! And then of course, I didn't get why no one turned around because she was clearly one of the best auditionees to come on the show so far.
I'm not gay or anything like that but i have seen this 3 times and it is SUCH a good musical and Kerry Ellis is the best! I work for an events company and get free tickets, that's why!
@loathing14 yep it's a mic, in every theatrical production you'll find the mic's hidden in the hairline and it leads to the mic pack around the waist/chest. It's the best place to put it especially if the role requires you to move a lot :-)
=) just realised, u can see where she not bin painted on her neck!! =) exellent singing tho, will miss her in london =( going to see it on the 13th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cant wait!!!!
Hehe, oh the book is very different! Haha, but I mean I read the book first and then saw the musical and I love them both! The book is rather more...graphic and serious but it is defiantly a brilliant read!
Kerry is truly amazing, I loved Idina but I've seen Kerry as both Elphaba and Nancy and also met her twice and she is the nicest person, down to earth and very talented. I have to say I prefer her Elphaba, she was more animated and gave more energy to the performance. West end and Broadway no different.
kylejerel Loose women is a lunchtime talkshow sort of like the view. they have 4 presenters which vairie between 9 i think it is and then have 2 guest's over i think 45 mins or an hour can't quite remember
@RandyMareFan i know! it was on my trousers at that point, but luckily it was only a dress rehersal, so for the real thing I had to put it on my bra strap! But then that was a nightmare because I had a quick change on stage! :P
Well, when brits sing, they normally sound more "american" remember the Spice Girls? lol She DID do an American accent for Broadway in New York for her speaking parts, but I think like some people said that was probably the director/producers doing and not hers. I assume it was so we Americans didn't find it odd or vocally strange. I watched all of Wicked on 1channel and honestly didn't know she was a brit til I looked her up on youtube. And I'm from PA (USA) so her accent was great!
The West End's leading lady and Sir Tom and the three 9 minute wonders hadn't even heard of her! Says a lot about their general music knowledge...they know about their own little bit but not a lot else.
If there are, I've not noticed them . . . there are those who believe Elphaba and Glinda are lesbians (never did quite understand that . . . they both fall in love with Fiyero!) I actually fancy Kerry Ellis rotten, and walked out of her album signing convinced that I had to marry her.
No one knows. There's a crazy rumor that it comes out in 2010, but there's no official statement about it. Somebody just posted that on IMDB and started a rumor. The producers said that when the show slows down in popularity, they'll probably make a video (considering the show is produced by a film company) but the show is still just as popular as ever.
Idina will always we the best for one reason only. Yes she cracks alot and kerry blows her away singing but look at the acting. Idina always looks truly in pain when she plays elphaba. Although singing is a huge part of broadway you have to have good acting skills to back it up and Idina will always be the queen in that department. Also I saw Wicked live in chicago last year and thought that Elphaba was pretty damn good. Her name was Dee something look her up.
Well... Idina was the one who opened the show in London, so she had the american accent... from then they had english accents. Honestly both work tho, it's Oz, and it's musical theatre - everyone interprets things differently so there's no right or wrong answer here :)
She looks incredible in green! Amazing performance. I Love Kerry Ellis!!!!!

Kerry ellis the voice
i don't think it'll ever lose popularity!!!
Wow! She is captivating! Idina set an incredible precedent and I will say that Kerry seems to have made it her own! It seems to me that Idina has a more edgy or rebellious acting style in this show which I enjoyed but Kerry's voice is superb!
I actually totaly agree with you!
How can you have just seen her on broadway? She's in London at the moment. I just saw her last week. She was amazing by the way. So amazing in fact that my friends went to see her twice in three days!
yea i know i love a lot of the american cast lol, but kerry is amazing, im going to see it in may, im soooooooooooooo excited.
@authorit09 i completely agree! although i am slightly biased considering ive only seen kerry perform and not idina. but i love the tone to her voice in defying gravity. its like she's not just an AMAZING singer but she has that great accent.
she does!
i like her and idina the best!
I firstly didn't understand why she was auditioning for The Voice. She's a legend already! And then of course, I didn't get why no one turned around because she was clearly one of the best auditionees to come on the show so far.
@caduriiiiiix1 I agree- her acting was spot on.
okay not one of her best performances bt she still is FANTASTIC!!!!
National Treasure x
I'm not gay or anything like that but i have seen this 3 times and it is SUCH a good musical and Kerry Ellis is the best! I work for an events company and get free tickets, that's why!
i agree totally :D
me too!!!
It would be good to see a broadcast-quality recording of the whole production.
Or I'll just wait for the film.
@loathing14 yep it's a mic, in every theatrical production you'll find the mic's hidden in the hairline and it leads to the mic pack around the waist/chest. It's the best place to put it especially if the role requires you to move a lot :-)
lol I knew that.. hahah Thanks
she sings this song without any trouble, while this is quite a difficult song to sing.
The last note is perfect by the way.
Extraordinary

i think kerry and alexia are the perfect elphabas.........i want to see them more often
Hehe, oh the book is very different! Haha, but I mean I read the book first and then saw the musical and I love them both! The book is rather more...graphic and serious but it is defiantly a brilliant read!
Trust me.. Stephanie J. Block is the BEST Elphaba EVER!!!!! she rocks it out!! she worth travelling for... i might travel 2 see her new musical!
@RandyMareFan definitly! mine flew accross the stage once! :P
why's it such a long time?
@adorablelittlecat Oops..I work as a costume designer and speaking from experience it's a nightmare trying to put the pack in a discreet place..lol
kylejerel Loose women is a lunchtime talkshow sort of like the view. they have 4 presenters which vairie between 9 i think it is and then have 2 guest's over i think 45 mins or an hour can't quite remember

how on earth can you tell how the wheels are turning in her head?
anyone else think she sounds 'South Park' -esque at 2:08 when she goes 'Alright why not?' XD :P
If there are, I've not noticed them . . . there are those who believe Elphaba and Glinda are lesbians (never did quite understand that . . . they both fall in love with Fiyero!)

wow i've never heard an american say that, us english are all wishing that we could go to to new york or la to see the cast there
is it just me or does she sound like Idina at the start of this?
Idina will always we the best for one reason only. Yes she cracks alot and kerry blows her away singing but look at the acting. Idina always looks truly in pain when she plays elphaba. I think she takes over the Broadway Elphaba tomorrow night. Cool. :)
What is loose women?
U uesd 2 know Kerry?X
Is it just me, or did she get dramatically better as her performance went on?
