Improvisation with Cirklon and NDLR

  • It has been a while for various reasons. But this afternoon I thought, let's do a quick improvisation to show off with the NDLR. I got the NDLR at the end of last December and it is a great source of inspiration. The Cirklon clocks the NDLR and sequences the NDLR's chord progressions by sending CC messages. The NDLR drives the Mopho and the Korg ARP Odyssey as the 2 motif's and the Roland JD-800 as the pad. The Cirklon drives the Synthesizers.com for the bass, the SEM, the Plaits and the Braids for the snare sound. Some soloing on the Moog Voyager Old School, the Moog Prodigy and the Moog Polymoog Synthesizer. This all is recorded in 1 take. Sorry for my bad camera work and the fact that the camera stopped after 15 minutes. Hope you enjoy it nevertheless.
    The track is uploaded to Bandcamp. Search for Attorks and you will find it.

    Nice piece! - I really am digging my NDLR. (..waited long enough for it! )
    I'm finding it can drone on and on ... even with the modulation matrix options.
    I'm looking into creative ways to have it introduce space and get out of the default behaviors.

    Hello Martin. It sounds fantastic. Have bought the NDLR. But I will have to wait till it arrives.
    I'm so curious.
    I am not good in Midi yet. How do you sync your gear in that setup with the NDLR?

    • @attorks
      @attorks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I sync the NDLR with the Cirklon so the Cirklon is the master and the NDLR is the slave. You can configure that on the NDLR. Be sure to use MIDI IN port B for the sync clock because port A won’t work.

    • @attorks

    please how do you solid lock the ndlr to the cirklon? .. for me the ndlr doesnt recognize the cc start/stop sent from the cirklon or the mtr port option...and the cirklon doesnt recognise any start stop from the ndlr so if you were stop and restart the ndlr or the cirklon then the two machines might not be correctly in sync. so how did you approach this since as stated you have the drums and bass coming from the cirklon and the rest from the ndlr...so how?

    • @attorks
      @attorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      The NDLR is slave to the Cirklon. Cirklon MIDI 1 Out connects to NDLR In B. Set Clock In on the NDLR to MIDI B and ClkInPPQ to 24. On Cirklon mclk is on rsyn1 and send MTC is on. Hope this helps?

    Is er geen goedkopere manier om de chord progressies van de NDLR aan te sturen dan de Cirklon ?
    Als het CC messages zijn dan, zou dat ook met een DAW moeten kunnen, niet ?

    • @attorks

    What control do you have over the chord inversions with this?

    • @attorks
      @attorks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can control the key and inversion with MIDI CC messages 26 and 27. So the buttons on the NDLR are controlled by the Cirklon. It is a little fiddly because the inversion is activated when you set the key. So the inversions have a minus delay in Cirklon, so send before the key change. In this piece the key stays the same (E-minor) but the inversions are changed.
