Mechanic here, our rule of thumb is to ALWAYS check the work the customer claimed they did. Basically we act like we’re diagnosing it from scratch as if nobody has messed with it yet. It’s nothing against you but sometimes the DIY guys don’t do things properly or 100% correct (like this case) so we almost always check what has been done for reasons like this instance. Good thing they checked!
Jeff, don't let the haters bother you. You took the chance, you put in the effort, and you made a nice profit. Kudos to you and Christian. And you sold the car for a real fair price for the buyer too. Haters will hate, I say keep up the good work!!!
absolutely. if anything, the buyer got a steal. you guys took all the risk, did all the work on it (minus the dealer visit), saved a boxter, and you documented everything. win win for everyone, including us the viewers, excluding that weirdo in the bmw
In a "Charity" sale, the odds will just about always be in favor of the buyer. When the vehicles show up at an auction, the people responsible for the initial inspection to determine the current mechanical condition in most cases are looking for obvious defects in the vehicles. If there's a misfire or unknown noise, the "Condition Report Writer" doesn't do an indept inspection of the engine or the problem. That's not their job. And when dealing with a Charity vehicle, there isn't a lien holder who wants to make maximum book value of the vehicle. In other words, they won't seek out a mechanical inspection to determine the cause of the engine defect. They will just list the announcement of bad engine to cover themselves in case the buyer changes his mind after purchase. I worked at an auto auction for 22 years. I also wrote Condition Reports for 7 years.
Job well done, cars like that deserve to be saved. What frustrates me looking at your videos is that bargains like that don't exist where I live in Australia. Only way I could find anything that cheap here would be if it was a wreck. Keep up the good work.👍
Well done brothers. It's your experience and expertise with buying/troubleshooting these cars. THAT is where your profit is coming from. I would take the 997 turbo because I need that back seat for a car seat :)
Love em ! ... I own a very mint 2000 Boxster S with 67K miles on the clock. Silver / navey blue with GT3 rims. In my ownership since 2015 and is the easiest car to run and keep. Used UK prices are lower here than US !
I'd take 10 budget Boxster' over a turbo 997. Great buy and a deserved profit on your project. I would have left the area when that nut job started revving his engine, crazy is unpredictable and dangerous. Enjoyed the video and look forward to your next Boxster project.
Sooooo hooked on these Boxster vids👏👏👏. Realizing that these Boxsters are an amazing car for the money with all the hate givin to this car....says a lot about you both👏👏👏👏. Keepin it real🎯💯....make all the money you can.
I hope you fixed the flaky solder repair on the MAF sensor. That needs a couple of sealed in line crimps. Solder connections will result in later failures due to stress concentration at the solder joints.
I don't understand why would someone hate on you guys for making a profit. Envious left-wing people, I suppose. By the way, i love it when you guys bring a cool car back to life, cleaning it all for cheap, very enjoyable to watch! Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷 👍
Hey Don't ever "feel bad" or second think about calling the cops on someone. if the person was impaired and he looked to be, you would be more mad at yourself if you found out he killed someone the next day. Thats what my dad use to tell me, He was a firefighter for 18 years, so he saw it all. You could be saving someones life by calling the police!
Glad I'm perfect. Like the story where I could not start my friend's SAAB because I did not push the clutch all the way in. All my cars have been manual. So weird.
If I had a porche I would do it all myself also I think you young man do a great job I would like on I have a 🇬🇧1953 Morris Minor and a 🇦🇺1997 commodore 🇦🇺2008 Holden Calais and an 🇯🇵2018 Honda civic turbo I live in Australia
Next time, don't scream and call for help... If they keep screaming and you absolutely need to talk to them, speak with a wipers voice. The more they scream the calmer you need to get 😏👌
Love the Boxster videos they are always super sick. Let the HTTRS hate if you're in the market to sell nice used cars of course you want to make a profit and give the fairest price possible which I think you guys always do . Great job Jeff tell the next one my dude Peace
Hi in the costs you did not add your time and labour - how much do you value your time per hour? Cause after you subtract those labour cost, that is actual profit.
Hey I have a question so could you put the 997 or the black Porsche front clip on the silver Porsche? That would get rid of horrible-looking headlights on the silver one? And congratulations I think you guys did awesome and you should get paid for it 🤑💵💲💸👏
I don't know where you get your pricing info. I have a 49,000 mile 986 S from 2000. One owner (before me - mine for 3.5 years). I check Bring a Trailer almost daily and other sites on occasion. (I'm also looking for the right Cayenne). I'd say that car is work $13500. Still an amazing deal for what those little jewels will do. EDIT: I had made this comment before I got to the place in the video where you told us what you sold it for. That is exactly what I think it and mine are worth. Mine has no surface rust issues. It could use a new top but it's satisfactory.
So it's all your fault JR Garage. You gave me Boxter Brain and now I own a 2003 Boxter 2.7 liter with 25575 miles on it. My guys at German Auto Service looked up the service records with the VIN and told me that is an extremely well-maintained Porsche out of Texas. I was the winning bidder @ $8400. It needs $3800 in bodywork and new tires. with taxes and Copart fees, I will be in it for less than $15,000. I live in Michigan so we will be doing some beach cruising this weekend. 🏎🏎🏎
Serpentine belt is the easiest thing to replace on that car. A lot of Boxsters out there, with easy fix, but been told by the dealer will cost $8k or so to replace this n that. Window regulators for $850 to a $1000 is insane. Rotors and pads, and abs sensors replaced at indy or dealer are just insanely charging way to much. Window regulator, Piece a cake that takes 45 min to an hour max!! Many owners just give up and sell

$13.500, with no engine or IMS bearing issues. : )
Jeff, don't let the haters bother you. You took the chance, you put in the effort, and you made a nice profit. Kudos to you and Christian. And you sold the car for a real fair price for the buyer too. Haters will hate, I say keep up the good work!!!
car is fine he need haircut
absolutely. if anything, the buyer got a steal. you guys took all the risk, did all the work on it (minus the dealer visit), saved a boxter, and you documented everything. win win for everyone, including us the viewers, excluding that weirdo in the bmw
The cheap Boxster videos rock. That car is awesome.
986 shares 911 parts for much less.
The fact that you picked up the trash and didn't even record it tells a lot about you. Keep up the awesome work
It is always ok to make a profit. The buyer got a great deal on it. Good deal for everyone.
There’s a lot that needs to be addressed on this hoopty but it’s the buyer’s fault for not knowing what they’re buying 🤷♀️
Glad you guys didn’t get shot by the litterbug.
what a dumbass that jerk guy
Dude in the bmw trying to show off not knowing these guys have multiple Ferraris and couple airplanes 😂

Hey Jr garage, finely back on the posting schedule I see.
New video tomorrow as well.
Love these Porsche vids! Great job y'all!
Awesome Jeff and Christian on Boxster🙌🏻
Yeah, current market says you under priced it by at least $3k! S model manual under 100k miles is in demand! Great video
Very true!
One of my favorite channels. Got me thinking more and more about buying!
You took the risk, you deserve maximum profit. Always.
I love when JR Boxster posts a new video! ❤️
More to come!
Job well done, cars like that deserve to be saved. What frustrates me looking at your videos is that bargains like that don't exist where I live in Australia. Only way I could find anything that cheap here would be if it was a wreck. Keep up the good work.👍

The Howard Stern look doesn't fit you!
Dude or bro! Pick one! 😂
Live your life how you want to brother !!!
Well done brothers. It's your experience and expertise with buying/troubleshooting these cars. THAT is where your profit is coming from. I would take the 997 turbo because I need that back seat for a car seat :)
You never disappoint with your BOXSTER finds and fixes.

I'm in the UK and it's approaching 1am..I need to go to sleep but really want to watch this😂
I'd take 10 budget Boxster' over a turbo 997. Great buy and a deserved profit on your project. I would have left the area when that nut job started revving his engine, crazy is unpredictable and dangerous. Enjoyed the video and look forward to your next Boxster project.
Lets do better and get as many Porsches 914, 944, 928, inexpensive 911 and more...
You’re entrepreneurs don’t apologise for doing your jobs 👏🏼
Amazing fix, glad your Porsche is running smooth now! 👍
You guys inspired me, bought a 2000 s with a hardtop and sport seats and aero kit bumper. Sold all that and now have myself a $400 Porsche.
Well done!!!!
You're doing great for someone who didn't know what the "W" stands for in the oil weight.
Oh man, I can’t believe that……you both got perms! Good work with the Boxster.
That Brian May hairdo is somethin else 😂
Sooooo hooked on these Boxster vids👏👏👏. Realizing that these Boxsters are an amazing car for the money with all the hate givin to this car....says a lot about you both👏👏👏👏. Keepin it real🎯💯....make all the money you can.
It happens to all of us. At least u tried. Now u know. Good job.
I hope you fixed the flaky solder repair on the MAF sensor. That needs a couple of sealed in line crimps. Solder connections will result in later failures due to stress concentration at the solder joints.
9:02 I’ve always have a love for the noise this generation makes ❤
Man! You guys don't miss!! I love the content!
Thank you!
Nice work fellas 😁👍🏻
16:43 Yeah you should do a review of this little track monster !
There’s no harm in profiting from your hard work.
Nice job guys. Nicely done on the profit - well deserved. Love the content - especially the airplane stuff!!!
Glad to see you taking a well deserved profit after absorbing the massive risk yourselves.
Would this kind of boxter make a good first car? Also do they break down a lot and if they do are they expensive to fix?
I don’t fault you for making a profit. That’s how you buy more cars and post more content 👍
I don't understand why would someone hate on you guys for making a profit. Envious left-wing people, I suppose.
By the way, i love it when you guys bring a cool car back to life, cleaning it all for cheap, very enjoyable to watch!
Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷 👍

good result and content, well done, keep it coming, ignore the hate, concentrate on the real fans
I think you guys did great on the Boxster! I never begrudge an entrepreneur for taking a risk and making a fair profit.
That black 911 is my kinda Porsche! I want a older mid 80s 911 that’s my dream car
Nice. How about picking up an engine damaged Boxster, and building a seriously rapid (911 engine swap) one?
Great content as always; thanks.
A 986s is not just good for the money. It’s just good. So good
Great job guys, at least you learned something new!
Thanks for saving another one! Greetings from Poland from Me and my Porsche 986 boxter S 2002 65kmilage😂❤
Good on you guys for breathing life into another helpless car. And that guy was tripping on something
Geez, I wish I could find a Porsche Boxster down here in Oz for $8500 AUD!!!!! Love the vids. Def spoilt for choice in the US.
Gotta hear that seated coil pack "click" dudes! Lucky it doesn't have bore scoring--yet!
Lesson learned 😂
They get so lucky with these boxsters! I’ve been wanting one. 🤔
Great videos keep up the great work any tips for me to get a cheaper boxer automatic sadly
Glad I'm perfect. Like the story where I could not start my friend's SAAB because I did not push the clutch all the way in. All my cars have been manual. So weird.

Excellent update 🏁 and all the old gas is out of the tank.
Yup! Although I guess that wasn’t the problem?
Love the boxster videos!
Good on you for making a neat profit. Ignore the haters who wish they had the temperament to take on the risk of buying from auctions
You're in business to make money. People that hate on that are a$$holes. Glad you guys are making more car content. Thanks.
Well done JR!
Love the Boxster videos they are always super sick. Let the HTTRS hate if you're in the market to sell nice used cars of course you want to make a profit and give the fairest price possible which I think you guys always do . Great job Jeff tell the next one my dude Peace
You earn it! Silly you have to apologize for making opportunities for people to get cool cars.
Hi in the costs you did not add your time and labour - how much do you value your time per hour? Cause after you subtract those labour cost, that is actual profit.
13,500 all day long. Car looks great
Good job guys, keep going! I'm waiting for new films from porsche series. For me your profits are OK, you deserve them for sure.
Profit is the name of the game
Hey I have a question so could you put the 997 or the black Porsche front clip on the silver Porsche? That would get rid of horrible-looking headlights on the silver one? And congratulations I think you guys did awesome and you should get paid for it 🤑💵💲💸👏
The BMW driver looks like he'll be another police incident in the US.

Good on you for making an honest profit. Hair looks great btw
If you boys can buy, fix & sell a sweet little car worth $16k for $13k & still make $6.5 k...everybody is a winner...envious haters be damned
We all learn by our mistakes, it's the beginning of knowledge. Dont sweat the small stuff.
