My son works for a Seed plant just east of you, and part of his job is overseeing planting. When you pulled up to the white pickups it appears that there is a Remington Seed sign on the edge of the field.
You think the 8400 would at least be in the 80-100k range maybe higher with those low HRS. Low Hrs well cared for tractors like that are hard to find, plus look at what a new or newer replacement would cost. We normally only have 1 machine in the Under 6 year old or new category, the rest are well cared for used or older machines like your 8400, i pref the older ones actually. If you want you can operate a operation with a very low equipment cost by both have a second crew for shift work & using well cared for used equipment. Good video thanks.PS: l have seen some sale were the used low hour machines bring a higher value then newer due to simplicity, def, and ability to repair. The future operating cost is low enough to warrant a higher price.
I was going to explain that but I can’t really because seed companies are always competing and I’m not really allowed to say how their contracts work for that reason. In a nutshell they use a commercial corn equivalent yield to start then include hybrid competitiveness and yield goals and encourage growers with the best agronomic practices
would mowing corn stalks and raking it together to burn it for corn drying be sth that could work out where you are? ive seen it done a few times in france
Planting male only. Seed corn is usually grown in a 4:1 pattern. 4 female and 1 male. Only the female with get harvested as the male is used as a pollinator to create a hybrid with the female
Another interesting Mann's video. Thanks.
Awesome video!! I believe it was daddy cornstar that said to check oil with the inside of your pant leg.
😉
Would love to see some of the seed corn harvest once it's time, even a clip or two in between fields you folks have to harvest yourselves
If you go back to last year I have a video of seed corn harvest. Check it out!
Great job! Love that 8400.
Lol. When I saw “Daddy” put it on video that he wiped the oil on the inside of his pants I thought Mama would kill him!

I would hate to guess but probably 130,000 maybe . Might take awhile but it would definitely bring it or more

@@mannfamilyfarms381 Thanks
What about a 8400 with 705 original hours second owner
Mint!
Great video. I’d say that 8400 is worth at least 100k - 120k
I'd lay money your 8400 would go for 100k the used tractor market is crazy
great video, around 48 grand, for the Tractor
Do you harvest and spray the isolation crops?
Do you plant the second delay offset a few inches so not to hurt the first male plants?
Sure do we treat isolation as their own fields. And yes usually an inch or two on the second plant!
@@mannfamilyfarms381 Thank you! I figured as much but I wasn't sure. We never farmed for seed back in the day.
I'd say about $95,000-$100,000
