For the sake of historical truth: This song was never a real World War I song or a war movie song. Wo alle Straßen enden (Lied der Legionäre) with the original title "Marsch der Verdammten" is a German foreign legion song from the 50s or 60s composed by Horst Heinz Henning. The melody is a creation from the choir "Die Alten Kameraden & Ein Grosses Blasorchester" and is published in the Album "Als die goldne Abendsonne: Soldatenlieder und Märsche". The album was released April 12, 2015. Only the first verse is original. It is believed that this is a poem from World War I set to music by this choir. The other four were created by me, Karl Sternau.
@@goddessoflesbians1153 Well, according to other videos this seems to be the translation, but it would (at least from the modern interpretation of the German grammar) make more sense if it would translate to "One eats just tubers, it it smells like the corpse's niff". But I could be wrong just because language (and especially grammar) changes over time, some times more drastical (Gutenberg's invention of the printing press) or more subliminal (migration) Edit: English grammar sucks (apostrophes and capitalization of adjectivated nation names)
