I'll never forget the day one of my CEOs walked the safety talk. I was a safety manager on a construction site building a new factory.
The CEO took the time to visit the site and delivered a brief speech. He emphasized the significance of safety and emphasized that it was our shared responsibility to ensure everyone went home safely at the end of the day.
But what surprised me was the CEO's action. He put on a hard hat and safety glasses, then joined us as we walked through the construction site, observing everything we were doing. He even asked us about our safety procedures.
It was evident that the CEO took safety seriously. They weren't just preaching; they were actively involved. This left a lasting impact on me and everyone at the site.
That day, I learned that management's commitment to safety goes beyond mere words. It involves leading by example and demonstrating to employees that safety is paramount.

In short, it means that management is taking safety seriously and is willing to put in the resources and effort to create a safe workplace. This includes things like:

🚀 Holding employees accountable for their safety behavior. It's also about setting a good example.

So, how can you tell if your management is committed to safety ❓
Here are a few questions to ask:
🚨 Does safety training and equipment get prioritized ❓
🚨 Is there a strong safety culture in place ❓
🚨 Are employees held accountable for their safety behavior ❓
🚨 Do managers walk the talk ❓
If you can answer YES 😀 to these questions, your management will likely commit to safety.
