  • Karjalan kunnailla is a traditional Finnish folk tune, often performed on Kantele, the national instrument of Finland. Kantele is a string instrument with closest relatives in the Baltic countries and Russia. The instrument has been estimated to have existed for some 2000 years.     The words of this song (by Valter Juva in 1902) long for the waking spring nature of beautiful Karelia, formerly part of Finland.
    This video is my tribute to the beauty of the Finnish Nature. I try to mimic the sound of Kantele using a 12-string acoustic guitar, and wanted to add a touch of sounds by Greek bouzouki and baglamas as well.
