I can't believe people were giving Rhys shit over his answers, he's so clearly bummed to not be able to talk about the show and is borderline not sure what's happening because he doesnt hear questions, and yet he tries to crack jokes and make the most of the situation. Also I've heard this panel was badly moderated but i wasn't aware just how bad. It's almost impressiv. Almost.
For those unaware (writing this before watching it all so I'm sorry if it's mentioned), Rhys has a long-running podcast about cryptids called the Cryptid Factor. He is genuinely a nerd for it, and it's a treat to listen to!
Members of SAG-AFTRA, the union that covers actors, including voice actors, are not allowed to promote work by struck companies - members of AMPTP, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers - and that includes panels and other promotional events at Comic-Con. That extends to projects that are not currently struck would be. The actors were booked because of their connection to the show and the conventions still want them for signings and attendance but they would be crossing picket lines if they did promotional work for the studios. You can see good examples of doing this well with conventions that have something for the actors to do. I attended one panel this year where they had actors playing games with the crowd or discussing acting in general or their personal lives. All stuff they can do. What they can't do is promote struck or would be struck property so by letting people ask those questions or not having a plan on how to occupy their panel time you are going to put them in a bad position. Either they come off very badly and the fans don't like it or they mess up and crossing a picket line can have major career conquences.
thanks for the upload! i watched this live (on the stream) and i have to admit... it was so, so badly moderated. so badly planned. it was actually painful watching how uncomfortable and bored rhys was. he couldn't even hear anything for the most part! a boring icebreaker game for 35 minutes... surely there was a better way to have a panel without actually talking about the show. and if there really wasn't a way, then uh, don't have a panel...
Vico, Samson and Rhys did a panel in London at the end of October and having seen this, I was a little worried about what we might have to sit through, however, I feel that the hour session we got, was better than this. They got asked questions about how they got in to acting, where they've enjoyed filming the most (NZ was the answer lol ) and stuff like that. I have to say, that while this was somewhat painful, the cast made it so entertaining so god bless them 😅
The answers go to how little the supporting cast know Rhys compared to each other. The fact that they all agreed none of them are outdoorsy or have been on the open sea? Like, have y'all ever talked to Rhys, or even seen his social or stand up? That was a little sad actually.
I must apologize but, right from the very start, as Rhys enters the stage, and stands and waves, the one piercing, relentless thought that is obliterating my brain is: good god, _someone_ dresses left. _Lawd have mercy._
@@PGT860he's also got a level of hearing loss in his one ear (it was either as a result of something that happened when he was in the NZ army or when he was in school and the PE teacher would constantly and purposely fire his starting gun really close to Rhys' ear).
Rhys had it rough here: he couldn't talk about the show or the role he's put so much into and he wasn't able to do any acting work due to the strike; he couldn't hear many of the questions being on the far end (and he has a level of hearing loss in one ear) and when he said several times he couldn't hear the questions, the moderator did nothing to resolve the situation for him; he's Neuro-Divergent and ended up becoming unstimulated by the hour-long ice-breaker game. I can understand his frustration and losing his patience given all that. I met him about a month after this, firstly at MCM London then unexpectedly the day after seeing his comedy gig in Brighton and he was absolutely lovely.
Sounded like 'mijamores' to me, as in a contraction of mija and amores. Or it was just a mistake. I've heard them say mis amores many times. I would fully accept being called homores by Vico though.
