Fritz Haber was a German (Prussian) chemist, who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1918 for his invention of the Haber-Bosch process. A method used to synthesize ammonia from nitrogen and hydrogen gas. Used for the large-scale synthesis of fertilizers and explosives. It is estimated that two thirds of annual global food production uses ammonia from this process, and that this supports nearly half the world population. Haber is also considered the "father of chemical warfare" for his years of pioneering work developing and weaponizing chlorine and other poisonous gases used during WWI.

Which would later be the gas that germans used in ww2 most famously during the final solution and holocaust

@@kingseb2252 if you want body count- It's billions against 100 000s. Whataboutism is real thing. But compare atomic bomb which was marvel of science but used to kill japanese to be exact. And operation Manhattan was designed for that purpose. Fritz here didn't do that. He was nobel price winner for making synthesis that actually helped world to get more food easier...

Your reaction is so great! For live concerts, check out youtube : sabaton september 17 2022 portland oregon. This was just as Covid restrictions were lifted, and in this tiny venue, everyone was glad to be able to be at a concert again! My favorite is their first two songs, which really capture the band's and the crowd's energy: Sabaton - Ghost Division + Stormtroopers [Live in Portland 9/17/22] Also, the Hellfest 2019 concert is fantastic. Joakim lost his voice, so I miss his great baritone. But Tommy and Chris take turns singing the rest of the songs, just great! Yes, get a t-shirt:) That's what I said when I first heard Sabaton in live concert:). Beware: I now have about 20 items (some from their sales). T-shirts about the Somme are the latest. Their hoodies are really comfy. I like how you were mentioning to slow down and listen to the lyrics. Yes, now I know about Haber-Bosch, and the Manifest of the 93. Easy to remember from a song. I feel sorry for people who don't listen and who also don't know at least some of the important history that the band sings about. Regarding your discussion about the threat of war, let's do everything to avoid it. I saved some money, and visited Northern France and the battlefields that Sabaton sings about (Verdun, the Somme, Paschendale). And saw some of the cemeteries. I thought they would be like Arlington, just a few main cemeteries. I was wrong! There are hundreds, perhaps thousands of cemeteries all through this area, of soldiers from the war(s). Every little town, along highways, just buried where they were killed. And these are different. Arlington has soldiers who were killed in battle, or who died of age, disease, or accident. The cemeteries in Northern France and Belgium hold soldiers who were sent into terrible conditions, and who suffered and died terrible deaths. This eerie feeling is in every cemetery, no matter how beautiful and well-kept. There is info on the Douaumont Ossuary, which I saw, can't really grasp the horror of the place. So many soldiers and civilians died! So, let's work for peace, and not consider war as inevitable. That was the term that got people into the WW1 meatgrinder: War is inevitable. In fact, it was Queen Victoria's grandchildren squabbling that led to death and destruction for millions of people. Dying for spoiled royals. Let's not risk our lives and kids' lives and futures because some idiots, who would never put themselves in war, are pushing to get citizens to kill each other.

It's interesting, he might be the man who saved the most people in the history of the planet. But also, helped his country do some bad things, which killed a lot of people, comparable? And what is it worth? Do we take the good things and reject the bad? I'm happy he was here, or I wouldn't be.
