He literally comes across as a playful 10-year old who's really smart. And he loves nothing more than to translate his knowledge/wisdom into simplicity. I enjoy that part of his channel so much. It's scientific art.
Good job adding another step towards the strandbeest evolution, i can't wait till they will be able to keep themselves from going into water and will be able to power themselves off of pressure on there own when wind runs out.
Awesome. I recorded you giving this explanation at Maker Faire a couple years ago. I have that video on my channel. I was actually the literal cameraman you pointed to for the demonstration.
Reminds me of Richard Feynman's talk on Computer Heuristics, where he talks about a hypothetical computer using water and water operated valves for the equivalent of transistors to do "squirt, squirt, not squirt" for binary 110.
Great video, I love seeing your progress! Very good video as well, all that you explained I am already familiar with from a computer logic standpoint, but I think the explanation must work quite well for other people.
A hydraulic oscillator, interesting. I come from an electronics background, an oscillator needs capacitance in the circuit, is the capacitance in the hydraulic circuit related to the pressure in the tubes, i.e it takes time for the air to flow?
Not really. Transistor would work differently a bit. It would have main valve closed by default, and it would open only when bottom pipe will be blown. So standard transistor is not a "lair". It's a switch.
Theese three liar on relay sistem is 3 interlock relay. Relay a is On if relay c OFF Relay b is On if relay a OFF Relay c is On if relay b OFF The result is 3 astable relay/ Relay oscilator.
I don't understand. This doesn't make any sense at all! This 3 liars. I try to follow the path of air, but there is no way air can get to middle liar and then close firs liar. I don't see any connection in the path of air.
OK, I finally understood what was wrong. On 3:48 its very hard to notice that pipes between Theo's fingers are fused together, so they supply air to all 3 "liars" from 1 bottle. It's even harder to notice because Theo keeps his finger over them for the most time so it seems like this tubes are really separate and air has no way to get to left and middle "liars".
I like the fact that you appear to be delivering this lecture from inside a fort made of sheets and pillows.

Isn't it lovely
And boxes lol
Welp, there it is, folks. This man is literally a genius. Such a simple principle, executed brilliantly in a novel fashion.
The little valve switch looks like a pneumatic transistor - a rather wonderful thing :-)
Physics, biology, engineering and basically programming all put together, that is just crazy!
That’s a called an MRI scanner.
Your work is amazing. Thanks for showing us a bit of that magic. 🌿
this is amazing, your beasts are just walking mechanical computers powered by air. so cool...
hello shottysteve
They are practically simple living organisms similar to cellular life except built from sticks and reproduced by the mind of theo jansen
I grew up watching the first few Strandbeest videos. Thanks so much for continuing to produce content! This is truly a blessing.
This is the coolest example of Logic Gates I have ever seen. Your way of conceptualizing is simply awesome
Good job adding another step towards the strandbeest evolution, i can't wait till they will be able to keep themselves from going into water and will be able to power themselves off of pressure on there own when wind runs out.
Plain and simple, you are a Genius! am completely amazed by your
machines! Congratulations!
U zult echte onafhankelijke luchtdrukdieren bouwen! U bent werkelijk een echte mechanica-innovator!

Never thought I would see a flip-flop implemented with pneumatics, but that's exactly what it is. Great stuff!
It looks like a physical logic door , it's really intelligent!
Brilliant explanation. We need more of such teachers
oh damn it's a logic gate
Reminds me of Richard Feynman's talk on Computer Heuristics, where he talks about a hypothetical computer using water and water operated valves for the equivalent of transistors to do "squirt, squirt, not squirt" for binary 110.
truly these videos are gems. thanks for sharing, your work is amazing
Amazing! Great thinking!
Kool, thank you for showing me how they are made!
Brilliant! A pneumatic transistor; network all right. 👍🏼🙏🏼
Great Works !!! I love your works !
beautiful explanation...
i'm in love with this!
Great video, I love seeing your progress!

Você é genial incrível meu parabens pelo trabalho Brasil
Wow, It's a mechanical sequencer!
Theo Jansen = A GREAT MAN !
Thats a pipe transistor! Wow! Genius!
Thanks for this informations,
I don't understand much English but I understood your explanations!
Вы - Гений!!!!!!!!
So, a pneumatic Logic gate? Did he make Logic Gates out of Pneumatics? NOT Gates?
Hahaha mr that was amazing... respect ✊!!
He is kind of a philosopher in the way he explains how his beasts work.
Chapeau ................... 👍 🎓 💨 🌷
Amazing!
Great sir🤖❤❤
A NOT gate as a part of construction. Amazing
Mechanical flip-flops, digital computing elements.
Absolutely genius
Пожалуйста, сделайте русские субтитры, очень вас прошу!
Хочу понять механизм но языковой барьер мешает.
Ongelooflijk!

Awesome!!
One day…lawmakers are going to speak plainly as such…and politicians will finally be obsolete…permanent!
Man created the concept for a brain that runs on air... could such a machine be called alive?
Genius.
This is a air transistor !
exactly how a transistor works.

Ik kan niet wachten tot ze zichzelf kunnen reproduceren xD
Ooomggg you are fkin awesome man
То есть можно компьютер собрать, который будет работать на воздухе вместо транзисторов?
This is genius.
So smart 🤩
ecolo! wonderful!
Steven is the best
You are so cool :)
Leonardo da vinci would be proud
I’m sure your creations will scare any animal, including bears and tigers
inverter?
3:34 Communicating vessels.. Archimedes. Not an input -> output. But an equation is more accurate. x = yx
Neural networks
Dnmt... one day this thing will get mind.
OK so where can I buy one of these 'Valves'?
Very easy to make using pvc and plastic tubing.
It’s a series of pipes. 😄
👍👌😍🤩❤️
no dislikes!!!!

You worck is a increball but your sir using in worck
OK 🙄
I wonder if hes going to add a brain to them. id foolishly challenge him to it.
