    I recently learned to grind chia seeds in my coffee grinder. They make a perfect thickener instantly! No time needed for the seeds to plump up in liquid. I made 100% ground flax seed muffins (no flour) but the batter was a bit too runny….until now. This AM I added 2T ground chia seeds to the wet batter. The muffins just came out of the oven…perfect. I can’t be happier.

    1) You earn all the cool dad points for your casual humor and just overall demeanor. 😊
    2) The more I watch of your channel the more I’m convinced you NEED to try THE VEGAN 8 cookbook. Several recipes are oil free and everything I’ve tried this far has been simple (focused on the veg) and delicious!
    3) I’m making dal makhani for dinner. It is my favorite Indian dish thus far.

    Old auntie tip for breading: whisk chickpea flour with enough water to make a batter, coat the (tofu, cauliflower, whatever), then roll in breadcrumbs and air-fry.
    Try The Essential Vegan Indian Cookbook by Priya Lakshminarayan for excellent, authentic recipes.

    Chili powder is more for a smoky umami than for heat. Cayenne packs a fiery punch.

    A tip for adding chips, fruit and nuts to batter: add them to the dry flour mixture. The flour coats the addition and keeps it from clumping at the bottom.

I’m learning so much, so thank you! When you said you swapped in applesauce for the oil, is the ratio 1:1? Or is there a general rule of thumb? Haven't managed to cover your whole back catalogue yet, so I don't know if you have ever covered The Happy Pear cookbooks? They are a couple of Irish twin brothers and have quite the set up in the village of Greystones near Dublin. Thank you so much for trying this cookbook! I’m so glad your family liked (most) of the recipes! 😊 I haven’t tried any of the ones you made yet-I definitely want to make the curry noodle dinner you made (with the book choy -that looked delish!🤤) and the butter chicken with turmeric rice. The creamy cashew Mac, mushroom stroganoff, peanut tofu and broccoli and baked Mac and cheese have all been hits with my entire family (vegan and not). I’m going to a friend’s house for dinner tonight and I’m going to make the triple-layer cookie brownies. 🤎 You and your family are so fun-I love how brutally honest you all are! 😆 I also agree with you-raisins are awesome, I’m mystified by the estimated cook time in cookbooks on a very frequent basis 😵‍💫 and that shit very rarely improves a recipe (in my experience anyway!). A few cookbooks I’d love to hear your opinions on are Dreena Burton’s Plant-Powered Families (the ‘Ship-Shape Joe’s are a fave-also the Potato-Meets-Egg-Salad) and Plantifully Lean by Kiki Nelson. Those are WFPB already and the majority are GF or have GF modifications. I love Indian food as well, so I’d definitely recommend one of Vegan Richa’s cookbooks. The Oh She Glows Cookbook by Angela Liddon is another wonderful cookbook. I have quite an extensive 😅 cookbook collection, so seeing these videos is really inspiring-I really appreciate you making some of the healthier modifications also. ☺️ I can’t wait to see what you try next-thank you so much! 💚

    I’m so glad you said that the time to make things doesn’t normally match what the cookbook says, I always thought it was just me being a bad cook! Second thing, I notice you pour a lot of liquids into your recipes via their caps, is this something I never knew, because if the caps are a measurement, my mind will be blown.

    • @pbwithjeremy
      @pbwithjeremy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find more vanilla caps are around a tsp and so anything that size is similar. I know the apple cider vinegar cap we have is pretty side and is about a tbsp - so I don't think it's a hard and fast rule. I'm also good at judging how much to use, so sometimes I'm just guesstimating a bit...

    How about the Plant Based on a Budget or Bosh Books. New to the group have a few shelf full of books but seems of late I only cook out of a couple and alter when needed as a base to what I cook. I have to alter things even more for my son who has autism with ingredients and textures. I switched many years back due to finding out in a hospital that I was allergic to meat items so still learning but my son found out he has same allergy so working on an adult (19) with autism of what he enjoys and will eat is the fun part now. I wish you had the link to the recipes in your description section. There are a couple recipes I would love to try but do not want to buy the whole book for two recipes. Maybe it's just me but I can't find the recipes other than taking a picture of the ingredients when you have them up on the screen. Where can I find these recipes?😢

    • @pbwithjeremy
      @pbwithjeremy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey Michele - I don't think it would be okay for me to add their recipes into the description - I think it's fair for me to put them on the screen to give people an idea of the recipe - you can see if someone (or they) have an online version of the recipe - their website is here: www.sixvegansisters.com/
      It's meant to be a review, so if you're curious then you can check your library to see if they have it. But I would feel weird straight up giving away their recipe from their books, you know?

    Glad you reviewed this book. I wasn't sure; now, for sure, I'm not getting it. I don't have your patience. I want "easy" because I'm always making dinner at the last minute, & too hungry to try and modify a recipe. Fave Indian foods - Naan, Aloo Gobi, Vegetable Biriyani. HILARIOUS on the stuffed taco - "putting dog food on my taco" - OMG that was sooooo funny. Did you call your wife "WOODY??" I couldn't make it out. Oh, and why was there a stapler under a bowl on your T-shirt? Baffling.

    • @pbwithjeremy
      @pbwithjeremy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't say that it's difficult - however lots of processed foods - so if you want to eat more WFPB then it does take an extra step. If you've got a library that has it maybe preview it that way?
      GREAT picks for Indian dishes. Mmmmmmmmmm.

    Those bars look good, but, you’re mistaken on what a ganache is. A ganache is simple, but it’s not just melted chocolate chips. It’s chocolate and cream. I use chocolate chips and coconut milk for mine, (I also like to add vanilla and a pinch of cinnamon and bit of instant coffee (coffee brings out the flavor of chocolate))

    I love that you don't use 'processed crap.' It’s one of the things that has really put me off vegan food. I have watched quite a few vegan/plant based vlogs and not been hugely impressed with the nutritional value. Most seem to be ridiculously high in sugar. I have an autoimmune issue and never buy any food that comes in a packet with 50 ingredients I can't even pronounce!😂 I'm currently on a ketogenic diet for pain which is predominately animal based. I would happily swap some meals to plant based if nutritionally sound. I actually went off an bought some organic tofu the other day based on one of your recipes. As long as I can keep sugar and carbs low and knock out the gluten it's cool!
