I am ok with pardoning for convicted crimes but you cannot be able to pardon crimes that haven’t been investigated nor brought to trial

Unfortunatley, there is nothing in the Constitution to specifically prevent such overly broad interpretations of the executive power of the pardon. But there should be.

  • @christopherbrown3393

    I have a question:
Does a presidential pardon just remove the ability to investigate all the potential crimes these people are pardoned for? Why can't we investigate them anyway? I would think there is still value in finding out the truth so we can see what went wrong and better protect ourselves from those things in the future

It's not true that the Hunter pardon cuts off further investigation. It probably makes it easier to investigate, actually. Hunter can still be called on to testify and held in contempt if he refuses, and he wouldn't be able to plead the fifth in response to questions. And if he's found to be lying, he can be prosecuted for perjury. He can't be charged with his crimes, but others can be exposed.

9:43 yes I agree that if reporting journalists report things wrongly and propagandize these things if they want to stay employed or if their employer wants to stay running then they need to come out on air on Prime Time and admit all of the wrong reporting they have done in the last 4 years. And even go as far as to say that they were coerced by the government to do these things

My understanding is that the pardon ELIMINATES hunter's potential claim of 'the 5th' against self incrimination. This means that he MUST answer questions if asked by Congress. Such answers could very easily incriminate others AND may expose bidens to STATE legal jeopardy which this pardon does NOT absolve.

A presidential power to grant pardons is a must. However it should be reserved for political victims. Those who were charged and convicted for the purpose preventing a political opponent from being elected. That is the case with people who were Trump supporters of high profile and influence. Some other cases should also be allowed to receive pardons. Wrongful convictions for example. It might be helpful to amend the pardon power of the president to put in place pending pardons. In other words the pardon couldn't be implemented until after an investigation was made into the nature of the alleged crime/s. And only in cases of certain crimes such as possible treason or crimes against humanity. Election interference could be considered a high crime, in my opinion and a pending pardon in some cases. I believe we've seen possible acts of treason and crimes against humanity. Of course these are just my thoughts. I don't know how they would be done. Might be opening up a can of worms.
