To the people complaining about Frank's changing style, I'll quote the man himself: "Well, of course I've changed. With all the things that I've done and the places I've been, I'd be a machine if I'd stayed the same."
This is the nice thing about only discovering Frank literally 8 days ago. Not jaded or compromised by past works. All of his stuff is new to me, and this song seems to be as solid as anything i've heard so far.
My favorite thing about Frank’s music is it always comes from a place of honesty. While this isn’t the angst his listeners are used to, I am happy for him. And I like any artist who can show his range. Frank is still the best IMO.
Ahhhh Love it! This is exactly Frank I don't know what you folks are talking about. Frank is Punk but Frank is also emotion, He is "4 Simple Words" and "Get Better" but "Front Crawl" and "Broken Piano". The difference with this track is that its upbeat. It's happy, it's about a positive love not a past one. I can appreciate that! Once again LOVE!!!
Brilliant. Frank Turner is, hands down, my favorite musical discovery of the last decade. His voice, lyrics, and sound connect in that deep, perfect, true way that music can. When that happens, its the closest thing to magic there is. Thanks Frank for everything! Peace .n. We are the Music Makers and We are the Dreamers of Dreams 3ToF
I have wandered Through the dark Through the dirt I was hurt And in the end I came back to the start And I stumbled Lord knows how I stumble I slipped on myself, no help from anyone else I fell in love and I was humbled There she is Isn't she everything? There she is Isn't she everything? Down at the bottom I found the things I'd forgotten Then despite all I've done, I can learn, I can learn this time Gonna hold onto that I'm gonna forgive myself Then ask for forgiveness Crossing my fingers and toes Cause God only knows I need this Lord how I need this There she is Isn't she everything? There she is Isn't she everything? Isn't she everything I need? I needed someone who believed me I needed someone who wouldn't leave me I needed her Everything I need, I need is someone who believed me I needed someone who wouldn't leave me I needed her There she is Isn't she everything? I will give I will give anything There she is Isn't she everything? I like this a lot. Frank Turner was someone I could always relate to, having been shown his music at a time in my life when I was stressed, confused, and terrified of love in spite of wanting it so badly. Now, a few years later, I've found a brilliant love and intend to keep it strong. It might not be for everyone, but I'm really happy this song came out when it did. It feels really personal for me.
There's a Frank Turner song for every occasion/moment/event in my life. I love his music more than I could ever put into words. He is one of my all-time favourite artists and will continue to be.
Nice to see Frank evolving... I think some people just want him to release Love Ire and Song over and over again! Songwriting evolves as people do And I like the new direction!
In Frank's case ... songwriting evolves backwards. He even said himself that his songs are getting simpler. And no we don't want Love, Ire and Song over and over. He changed his style with every album and every album until PS4NP was just fucking amazing. But this new song shows not even one of his strengths. It's not a very deep or good text and the structure of the song itself is just boring. And then there is this strange synth in the background. I have nothing against synth but in this song it's just strange and annoying. I'm excited for the new album in spring ... but this one just isn't something I would listen to again.
It's just a complete different style of music. I think I haven't heard one acoustic guitar on PS4NP, and Frank still is a Singer/Songwriter. I like this song, but it just sounds overproduced. Less would be more in this song, I also don't like the synth. I hope the new album will be more acoustic/folk again...
Nope it will be more electric ... which could be good ... or not. And Song for Josh was a live song recorded with acoustic guitar. The third best song on PS4NP after Get Better and Silent Key.
Oh of course, Song for Josh and Thr angel islington. They are more intros and Outros so i nearly forgot about them. Song for Josh is awesome. There were also other awesome songs on it, but it was just kind of too "loud". And I don't think an electric Frank Turner album will work, sorry. I mean this song for example is great, but it would be much better if it was more acoustic...
My beacon of hope at the moment is the song '1933' which sounds very nice. It's a very punk-rock-ish song. Maybe we get some more of that on the new record
Different and new. I love it. It's great when an artist shows that they can play in so many different ways. Never a dull moment wih your songwriting, Mr Turner!
I can see this going to the top of the charts, I'd say it's a bit more 'pop' than what he's done before but I love this song and I think pop culture's gonna love it too.
Can't please em all but I'm liking this evolution. The old stuff isn't going anywhere for the people who can't feel they can keep interest. It's either complaints you sound the same or don't sound the same. Loving the new stuff, Frank, look forward to see which direction you're going next.
I can usually relate to his songs so much but I just can't relate to this as I have never felt love like this before and I feel bad when I listen to it cause it just makes me feel lonely haha. I am so happy for Frank tho, and that he's finally found someone that he feels this way about, he sounds happy.
Kellie Cronogue you will find someone too one day someone who drives u crazy and drives u crazy when your apart so all I’m saying is love will find u when u least expect it
Happy for you, Frank! She must be something else for her to inspire you this way. Hopefully we'll see you and the Bouncing Souls in Southern California this year.
The vibe is very reminiscent of the 80's. We can't always want to bounce around and sweat to the music!! Mr.Turner has a great balance of energy and sway to the music he puts out!! Love it!
Just heard this today for the first time. And again, Frank somehow has written a song that depicts a point in life I've crawled through before and am crawling again. It's quite strange that whatever is going through my mind, I'll find a Frank Turner song to fit to that moment.
I've been singing this to my one year old daughter. My whole world and the one lady I'll always need ♡. I promise you I'll never leave you. I need my girl. There she is. Isn't she Everything? ♡♡♡
Don't know why anyone would dislike this, how many artists actually write music with good lyrics and meaning behind them these days? Not nearly as many as ten years ago, awesome song.
my favourite singer since 10 years. now my wifes too. used this wonderful song for a surprise power point at our 5th wedding anniversary party. made her cry ;) thanks frank!
After seeing him perform this live for the second time ever and with the woman he wrote it for in the audience, I can say this is one of my favourite Frank songs from seeing the passion he put in to it when he was playing it to her and how much it meant to her
I think I preferred his older stuff, but it's always good to see artists evolving and delving into new styles! Perhaps this will grow on me. I look forward to finding out what the rest of the new album has to offer.
and just what the hell is wrong with a musician changing, maturing, and reinventing himself? Frank 10 years ago and Frank today are almost certainly in extremely different places in life. if you're not a fan of his new stuff, the old stuff is still there and just as good.
I love Frank. His persona, his no bull shot ways, his honesty, the fact he still replies to his emails...but...although the tune is catchy-ish, I would be better able to embrace it if it ended before the synth break. So curious what the new album has to offer. This song and Sand in the Gears on one album??? Even if he never makes an album I love again...his music is still the soundtrack of my life these days.
One year ago, this was the song I walked out to for my marriage to my husband. Makes my eyes tear still, because even 365 days later, he's still my favorite person.
This is beautiful this is the reason frank is one of my favourite artists of the now. His songs have soul and meaning. He is a gold nugget in an industry full of shit.
Not listened to frank turner in years then stumbled across this. I like it. But how did he get from million dead to this? Saw them live so many years ago and can enjoy them both very much separately.
How exactly is this not the old Frank? This is a beautiful song, typical of what makes me such a huge fan of his. How is this song any different than The Way I Tend To Be, or Broken Piano? Frank’s been a favorite of mine for many years, I have lyrics from The Way I Tend To Be tattooed on my right forearm along with the FTHC crossbones logo. This guy is amazing, I’m not understanding the hate. It’s like people get butthurt when an artist keeps doing the same stuff over and over and then they get butthurt when an artist changes and progresses. This guy has a way of putting thoughts into words that I envy, he’s right up there with the likes of Scott Hutchison, Andrew Davie and Jim Adkins. Great song.
Oh man I was so afraid he'd overdo things with the amount of instruments he showed on instagram, but no! Love this so much. It still feels like Frank; more polished and restrained but in a good way. The buildup was nice, and it has moment when it sounds like something good from the 80s. I'm sure the rollicking punk Frank will show up in other songs in the album.
This song came to mind just now and it came with the thought of her. I miss her and I know she isn't missing Me or thinking of me. Not only was she the Mother of my child, she was my best friend and all things in between. She was my Everything. Now she is gone and I wish I could say the right words to get her to hear me, I wish she would just see me but sadly even together she never seen me. I walked away and I know it was for the better because the person I'm missing wasn't the person I walked away from. That Girl was gone long before I left. Hope one day you are listening to this and that girl remembers who she is and reaches out. Also it would be nice if she would let me see and spend time with my Daughter. I miss my girls, I love you both and I wish all this would just be a nightmare and I'd wake up to you by my side. Please remember the good times, remember who you was before all the things that changed you and I hope you are staying clean and that you are happy. I Love You T.N. always forever til the end...... K N
"Not the Frank we know" "Too soft for Frank" - what's wrong with an artist changing their style from time to time? I think it shows artistic drive if an artist tries out different things and doesn't just sit comfortably where they're already established.
Well, he changed his sound with every album and I'm okay with that. But this song ... is just bad. His voice performance, the structure of the song, the chord variety, the tempo, the text and the questionable synth sounds ... it sounds like something my grandparents would listen to. A song that is repetitive in it's melody should have a driving force that carries it ... but this one is just too slow for it's repetitivness. And that is what makes it boring.
Why don't you tell us how you really feel, Noah? I think you were a little harsh on the song. I like it. I love the simple arrangement andI think his singing and lyrics carry the song quite well. It's like Polaroid Picture light. That's not a bad thing.
+Bill Conway You can't really compare this one to polaroid picture. It's more like I knew prufrock before he got famous like song(which is my favourite song by frank and always will be) but it hasn't the same deep lyrics, the same driving force that Prufrock has. And the production and melody are also kinda off. It's not a bad song though. It's just bad for Frank standards. After a few listens I can kinda see what he was going for here but still for me it doesn't quite work.
Not my favorite song of yours, but compliments for trying a change. If that's what you're looking for, go for it!! Ps: just felt like mentioning it anyway: I'm thankful for whatever decision it was that brought you and your music to be. I'm sure I'm not the only one. ✋ hugs
Guys, relax. Yes, this doesn't sound "like it used to", but this song is not on the 2018 album, it's on Songbook, and from a label's or music producer's point of view, these decisions are always made for a reason. I assume that his next new album won't be "like it used to" either (he has said as much, after all). But if this new song isn't on that album, then that's because it doesn't make sense on that album, thematically and/or musically. So if you don't like it too much, just sit back, drink a cup of tea and wait for what comes next.
I like this version but hope he release a rawer version of this song at some point as well. Sometimes he's done different versions that have such a different feel.
If you don't think this is Frank you've obviously only heard his last few albums. Go listen to Love Ire and Song, Sleep is for the Week, and Poetry of the Deed. OG frank right there.
This one sounds very different to to the others I've heard from the new album (Be More Kind and 1933, which I saw him do live over the summer). I like it, but I recognise that part of the reason I like it is that it's so clearly genuine emotion; it's obviously written for someone he loves more than its written for any of us. So I can excuse that it's a bit more simple than other Frank songs. For those people unhappy with the new direction: A) all artists have to change or they'd be boring B) I think the rest of the album is definitely going to have anger, angst, political rantings, lovely poetry etc. so don't worry too much
Could I hope to see soon the lyric of this song somewhere? English isn't my main language and I really hope I could study it soon to fully understand it.
im liking this new style Frank! you cant please them all but i love it, ive been a fan since pretty much the beginning and ive seen you evolve and im loving this!
Damn. Great songwriting. I don't dig the style as much as his other stuff, but no denying the genius. FTHC and the SS just made Taylor Swift style pop palatable. Well done ... really.
I had a rough day at work. When I came home, my husband played this song, took my hand, and we slow danced in our tiny living room.
Thank you, Frank.
To the people complaining about Frank's changing style, I'll quote the man himself: "Well, of course I've changed. With all the things that I've done and the places I've been, I'd be a machine if I'd stayed the same."
Yes! 😁
God dammit Amy
This is the nice thing about only discovering Frank literally 8 days ago. Not jaded or compromised by past works. All of his stuff is new to me, and this song seems to be as solid as anything i've heard so far.
I envy you
I completely agree with you. Its still frank
I found him by watching a video that someone made for their families. Made my morning beautiful
My favorite thing about Frank’s music is it always comes from a place of honesty. While this isn’t the angst his listeners are used to, I am happy for him. And I like any artist who can show his range. Frank is still the best IMO.

Found my wedding song Frank! Been a fan of yours for a while and just found this. Perfectly fits my wife.
Awesome
Hope you played it bud, we sure as heck played the acoustic version for our first dance.
Beautiful tribute to a woman who deserves it I'm sure. This is genuinely just a lovely sweet song

I have wandered
Through the dark
Through the dirt
I was hurt
And in the end I came back to the start
And I stumbled
Lord knows how I stumble
I slipped on myself, no help from anyone else
I fell in love and I was humbled
There she is
Isn't she everything?
There she is
Isn't she everything?
Down at the bottom
I found the things I'd forgotten
Then despite all I've done, I can learn, I can learn this time
Gonna hold onto that
I'm gonna forgive myself
Then ask for forgiveness
Crossing my fingers and toes
Cause God only knows I need this
Lord how I need this
There she is
Isn't she everything?
There she is
Isn't she everything?
Isn't she everything I need?
I needed someone who believed me
I needed someone who wouldn't leave me
I needed her
Everything I need, I need is someone who believed me
I needed someone who wouldn't leave me
I needed her
There she is
Isn't she everything?
I will give
I will give anything
There she is
Isn't she everything?
I will give
I will give anything
Anything you need
Anything you need
Anything you need I promise you I will believe you
I promise you I'll never leave you
I need my girl
Anything you need I promise you I will believe you
I promise you I'll never leave you
I need my girl
There she is
There she is
Frank's versatility is astounding. It is the main reason he is my favorite musician. Such talent. I love this song. What a tribute!

Literally balling my eyes out to this song over how much I love my 3 year old daughter
There's a Frank Turner song for every occasion/moment/event in my life. I love his music more than I could ever put into words. He is one of my all-time favourite artists and will continue to be.
This is totally still frank and always will be no matter what that man does

Aidan Marshall acoustic version live is more 'Frank' less pop. But I love this.
So freaking sweet ❤❤❤
Great song Frank! I hope to know the same feeling you had when you wrote it.
Can't please em all but I'm liking this evolution. The old stuff isn't going anywhere for the people who can't feel they can keep interest. It's either complaints you sound the same or don't sound the same. Loving the new stuff, Frank, look forward to see which direction you're going next.
Sir Steve Well people shouldnt conplain seeing as he started out in a hardcore band
These are old songs and old unrecorded songs.
After my husband died , My son sent me this and said
THIS IS WHAT YOU WERE TO MY DAD ...thank you Mum you were everything .
Real 80s Billy Bragg love song vibe at the start then really turns into its own thing. I dig this.
How beautiful. So soft😍 Totally in love!!!!!

Perfect way to wrap up the last few albums and lead us into a new generation of Frank Turner
Happy for you, Frank! She must be something else for her to inspire you this way. Hopefully we'll see you and the Bouncing Souls in Southern California this year.
I lose my crap with this song... no I was NOT just reduced to a weepy mess because of this song. oh my heart

Awesome song. It's nice to hear a new style. 🤘🏻🦄
I've been singing this to my one year old daughter. My whole world and the one lady I'll always need ♡.

5 days and counting, Frank live for the 4th time! I love this guy and his music
Love this, Frank is great
my favourite singer since 10 years. now my wifes too. used this wonderful song for a surprise power point at our 5th wedding anniversary party. made her cry ;) thanks frank!
Probably one the best singer song writers of all time I just now need to see him live
Great work. Still Frank Turner!
Great song. Thanks!
Loving the 80's vibes. Let him explore, folks. All the best artists evolve. Keep em coming, Frank. I trust ya. 🤘🏼
Yes,this is magical.
Thank you so much sir.
Such a beautiful love song! If I were not already married, I would have it played at my wedding. Love it each and every time I hear it!
I LOVE this song, I had to miss one of his concerts in phoenix because of a field trip. So good
Just what I needed to make my week better
Best song yet.. Maybe next to long live the queen
Love this song its beautiful ❤
Tune!
and just what the hell is wrong with a musician changing, maturing, and reinventing himself? Frank 10 years ago and Frank today are almost certainly in extremely different places in life. if you're not a fan of his new stuff, the old stuff is still there and just as good.
My wedding song. Couldn't love someone else that hard.
Love the new direction. Awesome song. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album. Please come to Calgary on the next tour.
You help me get through life man thanks
Love, love, love it!
'Lord how I need this'
I’m in love with this!
I love Frank. First listen I wasn't sure what to think but I have to say it's growing on me quickly!
I love this!
Wow 😳🔥 Mesmerizing 💯
Great song man!!!! Come back in Italy!!!!
Love looks so wonderful on you, Frank. This is beautiful.
I love fragile Frank. Good work Edward
One year ago, this was the song I walked out to for my marriage to my husband. Makes my eyes tear still, because even 365 days later, he's still my favorite person.
Favorite ❤️
very beautiful, Frank. thanks for sharing :)
I love it!!

It's different but I like it. Beautiful love song !
Wonderful franky baby!! As per
This is beautiful this is the reason frank is one of my favourite artists of the now. His songs have soul and meaning. He is a gold nugget in an industry full of shit.
I just saw your channel and i'm an instant fan of yours now. Really lovely this song 💜

Played this in class the other day. Didn't take long for students to identify that it's new Frank Turner and they were screaming.

Frank…. Aces. Im gonna forgive myself.
I wish I liked it.
Different. Good.
I like this version but hope he release a rawer version of this song at some point as well. Sometimes he's done different versions that have such a different feel.
Sounds like franks in love with his new misses by the lyrics
I think the direction he's taking will definitely show the World how talented he is! :)
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
If you don't think this is Frank you've obviously only heard his last few albums. Go listen to Love Ire and Song, Sleep is for the Week, and Poetry of the Deed. OG frank right there.
And even if you have just heard the new albums there's still stuff like Opening Act Of Spring, which is just as light as this
truth
This one sounds very different to to the others I've heard from the new album (Be More Kind and 1933, which I saw him do live over the summer). I like it, but I recognise that part of the reason I like it is that it's so clearly genuine emotion; it's obviously written for someone he loves more than its written for any of us. So I can excuse that it's a bit more simple than other Frank songs.
For those people unhappy with the new direction:
A) all artists have to change or they'd be boring
B) I think the rest of the album is definitely going to have anger, angst, political rantings, lovely poetry etc. so don't worry too much
Could I hope to see soon the lyric of this song somewhere? English isn't my main language and I really hope I could study it soon to fully understand it.
im liking this new style Frank! you cant please them all but i love it, ive been a fan since pretty much the beginning and ive seen you evolve and im loving this!
Damn. Great songwriting. I don't dig the style as much as his other stuff, but no denying the genius. FTHC and the SS just made Taylor Swift style pop palatable. Well done ... really.
