I absolutely LOVE how you mixed this innocent little tune with that darker, creepy undertone - and you didn't overdo it, either, which would've been easy to do. Definitely a new favorite of yours!!! And that dress is to DIE FOR. So floofy!!
It's odd how many dislike the darker interpretation. I've always found Alice an odder fairy tale with all of it's odd creatures. It's how I feel when I'm "high" (for lack of a better term) on all of my pain medication.
"In a World of My Own", the lyrics, always brought to mind my struggle trying to be diagnosed with Lupus. I would put on this face that everything was chipper, but on the inside I was dreaming of a world where I wasn't in pain, where I wasn't dead tired and just trying to save face, trying not to cry from doctors saying I was crazy, so I made a world where everything was dazzling and beautiful when outside was horrible. It took me EIGHT years to get a correct diagnosis. That's eight years living in a world where I was thought of as insane, so I kind of went insane. When I was told I wasn't insane, I thought, "What do I do with this world that I created to shove the horribleness out?" Wonderland exists on many levels for so many people. Mine just exists in a different way now.

The story. After Alice left wonderland she told everyone about it and her parents couldnt cope and sent her to an insane asaylum. She lived there all her life and talked to herself people asked if anyone was there she said the mad hatter and in the middle of the night she would try to escape shouting "WAIT WHITE RABBIT WAIT!" then one day they find her in her cell on the floor beheaded

A good video but people's continued fascination with dark interpretations of Alice in Wonderland does rub me the wrong way a little.
People really like to find dark subtext Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I'd like to point out though that it is in fact subtext and not text. There are things in the text that people are pretty sure are metaphors or have second meanings, but most of it was actually Lewis Carroll poking fun at new concepts in Mathematics and things in his own life.
I totally understand! This is actually part of a multiple-song, multiple video personal project chronicling my own battle with illness and chronic pain. So for me, it's more my own twist and personal story through the lens of a classic fairytale, not how I view the traditional Wonderland source material, but I understand why someone may think that, since Alice is so strange and out there! I actually think of Wonderland as a super happy, whimsical place! But this is just the lens (or looking glass rather XD) my director and I chose to show my story through. My next song & music video (for my new original song, Sleeping Beauty), continues the story, along with my original song ALICE which comes later this year. I'll try to do a vlog soon for you guys to explain a bit of the inspo behind all this stuff if you'd like to hear more. Stay tuned if ya like, and thanks so much for watching my videos! Okay. I didn't know about your own personal struggles. I'm also sorry if I sounded like a bit of a know-it-all there. I have a blog where I write about fairy tales and classic children's stories and I've gotten used to going on a bit with this subject.
I think the great thing about fairy tales and the classic tales the way you can interpret them. They aren't just one level books and stories, so if you want to just see it as one level then pft, off you go on your merry way. I studied both fairy tales and classic tales in college under two professors (a husband and wife duo) who told us while fairy tales served a practical purpose - they taught how to do something or how to act accordingly - they also served as entertainment. Therefore, there was a way for the teens to interpret them...and a way for adults. (That's 2 interpretations.) Since some farmer's children became governesses and governesses told these stories to their wards to entertain them, there was often another layer to fairy tales. Hence, why no one interpretation is completely wrong.
Same thing with those who wrote their own. Often, it wasn't about their own background they were thinking of when they wrote. It inevitably sneaks in as ours does when we interpret, but that's is something we have to be aware of. The joy of interpretation is often whatever we make of it. I often find Wonderland a very creepy place. After all, what place is scarier than a queen who wants nothing more than to chop off your own head and, well, that place is IN your head?

The thing about "Dark Wonderland" is that it's overdone. It went from novel to cliche. Most of the new interpretations of classic tales have. It's the same obvious undertones being played up over and over. As for the Queen of Hearts, she never actually executed anyone. In the book, the King of Hearts keeps coming around and pardoning whoever she sentences.
+TraciJHines I kind of relate to that. I was abused as a child and had trouble remembering things. Like huge chunks of my memories are missing. Memories would return over time and I assumed maybe I was just imagining thugs. I discovered that missing memories are actually one of the ways that the subconscious deals with abuse, it later on brings them forward years later if it feels the person can deal with them. While playing Alice Madness Returns, I related to Alice because the whole story is her trying to regain her memories by translating all the people in her "wonderland" (meaning her mind) into who they are symbolic of in real life, and finding out what actually happened to her family.
