My husband and I have stayed at both cottages and absolutely love them!! Planning to come back again in the fall. The cottages are beautiful, comfortable, peaceful and absolutely spotless!! Highly recommend! ❤

Hi Mary. You do a wonderful job of keeping those cottages looking fresh. You asked for some cleaning tips and I'm a cleaner of over 24 years. You really should wash the mattress protector after every stay. There will be all sorts of body fluids on there ( some you can only see with a blue light ) You also need pillow protectors and wash them as well. When cleaning the toilet, clean the outside completely before moving to the inside. This reduces germ transfer unless you use multiple cloths. I'm not sure if you used the same toilet cloth for cleaning the sinks. The video shows you washing a cloth after doing the toilets, then cleaning the sink. I could be mistaken, but a separate cloth should be used. Again, well done on such beautiful cottages.
I have 3 short term rentals on our property and clean them all myself. Isn't it nice when you walk in and think "was there anybody here?" because it's so clean. I hope to stay at one of yours someday.
We stayed at Apple Blossom. It was AMAZING! Beautiful! Can’t wait to do it again. Very peaceful!

I enjoyed this episode so much! I clean an Airbnb, and I love it! My sister says I’m weird. Like you, I’ve stayed at a few that were sketchy and wondered if the owners never check behind their cleaning crew. The folks I work for let me know how their guests appreciate such a clean, welcoming atmosphere when they arrive and that means a lot to me. I think operating an Airbnb would be challenging especially if you get guests that leave it in shambles. But the owners love having both their cabins and I’m impressed at how many guests choose their cabins over a hotel. We even had a family of seven stay last Christmas! Everything you touch has a special blessing with it Mary! I loved reading comments of guests who’ve stayed with you. How wonderful!

Your thoughtfulness for guests staying at your cottages is so admirable. You put so much care and consideration in having every necessity available for an exceptionally comfortable retreat. So true Mary. We’ve had good luck with cleanliness with airbnbs until recently in Myrtle Beach. Walked in and streaks all over tv and fridge, dirty baseboards, hairs in the bathroom. It was so disappointing and unenjoyable. And realistically, guests don’t have access to cleaning products and don’t want to spend their vacation cleaning so I appreciate all your effort and work

I totally agree with the cleanliness - it's terrible when you get to a holiday rental and all you want to do is clean under the sofa, beds etc. Thanks for going the extra mile❤

How I wish I didn't live so far away from you because I would love to stay in one of your cottages! I appreciate a very clean place to stay and after seeing you clean I wouldn't hesitate to stay there! Just watching you sitting outside eating your lunch was so calming! The view is beautiful! Your cottages are just wonderful Mary,they express you, if whoever was stay in one and hadn't seen you and had to guess what the owner was like, 100% they would describe you.
You're so articulate & like everything to look the best it possibly can, and as you say to clean properly is free if doing it yourself.
Ive stayed in a couple of not so clean property's and it really puts a black mark on the start of the holiday, i find holidays are a complete package from the travelling too the destination, accommodation and the activities you do on your holiday, some say the accommodation is just somewhere to stay but for me it has to be clean and welcoming,just like your cottages are.they are just perfect in every way. You deserve every ounce of praise as you and John have really worked so hard on those cottages as you do everything.

The cottages look beautiful and the one you worked on looks perfect Mary; I love using the products you mentioned as well. I have a little suggestion to make the upkeep even easier: At home, I always put zippered mattress covers on the actual mattresses and pillow "allergen" covers on all pillows. The covers keep your mattresses and pillows spot free and clean (no spots, dirt, etc. directly on them). After family, friends etc. leave, I just unzip the covers, throw them in the washer and put them back on. My pillows and the mattresses stay clean as new. Have a great week!

I really appreciate the extra effort you put into the cleaning because we have stayed in some places, including hotels, that I'm usually shocked at how dirty they are. I just don't think the cleaning people put any effort into it. Sometimes, I worry if the sheets are even changed between guests.
I don't think I have ever seen something so clean or well stocked as these are.

I agree: every Airbnb or rental property needs to be cleaned this thoroughly between guests. This video could/should be used as a training video. It would also serve as a great how-to for renters or homeowners who simply do not know how to clean their own homes. Excellent!

This was wonderful! I just recently found your channel when googling "white paint" because I'm painting some rooms in our home. Love how organized the kitchen is - we stayed in a rental once that was so disorganized that I had to redo it all. I hope we can vacation there in the near future!
Mary, We just got home from staying in Apple Blossom and we were really impressed with how clean the collage was but also the design and how beautiful you decorated the rooms. We travel for eight hour to stay in the collage and felt that it was worth every mile it took to stay there. I love seeing the things I watched you create on your channel. Mary you do such an outstanding job cleaning your rentals! My only suggestion is when I’m the shower cleaning, DO NOT go barefoot! Wear flip flops. You don’t want to get any fungus on your feet!!!
Or leave fungus on the floors from her feet!

I used to clean at our indoor swimming pool. Yes, fungus happens . Wear something on your feet. Also spray cleaner on toilet and wipe with paper towels. Less germs.Also use disposable gloves!
Sorry, I agree with suggestion re: footwear. As you get older like me, your feet need support of footwear. Otherwise your feet get sore by end of day. As always, love watching your videos.❤

Your guests may not notice all the details of how spotlessly clean your little Cottage is. BUT, they absolutely would notice if something is not clean and tidy. Mary, you take so much pride in taking care of your cottages. I can just feel by watching you the love, care and respect you have for your guests. I hope someday my husband and I can stay in one of them.
There are a lot of things that are really gross the way you clean. Going barefoot cleaning the shower after people have used it, filling the sink and using that water and cloth to "clean" the taps and counter. The sink and drain contain lots of germs and you are just spreading them around, best to do the sink last. Also folding clean towels on the floor where you are walking with your dirty feet. The way you clean the toilet using one cloth to finish the entire job, again just spreading germs around. Always finish with a paper towel, and some rubbing alcohol.
I wish I had seen this video prior to refreshing our home. Especially the floors! ❤️❤️❤️

I love how you take care of your rentals. I did this for about 8 years; unfortunately, the city disallows it in my area. I was able to host up to 8 people in my place, it was fun meeting new people but also hard work. Your cottages are so lovely.
Be sure to clean the remotes! I've read that this is one of the germiest items in a hotel room.

Loved to see someone with an AirBnB really care that it is really clean!! I have really quit staying in them because you pay a cleaning fee and yet it is got clean sheets and clean dishes in the dishwasher because that is the first thing I do is run a load of dishes I know we will be using and cleaning the water container on the coffee pot because they are hardly ever cleaned and they mold!! Yours I wouldn’t worry about anything. I hope sometime soon to be able to stay at one of yours!!

I have owned a house cleaning business for almost 30 years. I have a love for cleaning. It just makes me feel good knowing that others are walking in to a very clean place. Hi Mary! I would definitely stay at your cottages because they’re spotless. I gave up staying at Airbnb’s because of the lack of cleanliness.
Maybe have John adjust the foot of the stove..it shouldn't Rock back n forth when u clean it
Oh I so agree. I have a couple AirBNBs and definitely CLEAN is important right down to the dust bunnies under furniture and the fan blades!!!
Lovely cottage! Refreshing too, that the title was accurate. It was a cleaning video, nothing else snuck in like 'meal prep', or kids running around. 😄
You just amaze me!!! Not only your energy and attention to detail but just the love you pour into every space and thoroughly thinking about your guests' every need!!! Such a beautiful place. It definitely gave me inspiration! There's just SO much work I need to do around my house that I'm overwhelmed. Things really went to clutter and chaos following the deaths of both of my parents, they passed 17 months apart. During all of that, and Covid, and also nearly losing my daughter when she had her second child....uh, nothing had been done around the house for four years running! Cleaning, repairs, decluttering all need to be done. It's amazing how quickly it can all go down hill so fast. I just need to focus one room or one project at a time but it's hard because I want it all pristine right now, LOL!!! Just love your videos, thank you for sharing all your tips and tricks for getting things done!!
I might rethink the Mrs Meyer’s, although they smell good they are not a disinfectant
I'm so glad someone else noticed!
Although Mrs Meyer's probably can't claim it disinfects because of regulations in that industry, it contains essential oils, which are powerful antiseptics and antibacterials that Mother Nature provides. Just as she provides a strong immune system to fight germs off!

The cottages are so pretty and clean. Things have really gone downhill with cleanliness while traveling. Or maybe I’m just getting old and persnickety. Either way I’ve taken to hauling a large can of Lysol when we have to stay in hotels or homes.

I used to have 5 long term rentals (1 yr leases). Tenants were there on average 2+ years. We always repainted and deep cleaned, but for the most part, we too had good tenants. We were picky about renting them out. We only had to evict 1 tenant due to their poor rental habits and misuse of the cottage. (A family member at that!!) Your cottages are lovely.
