This is a must-see regardless of your opinion of Blagojevich. I met Blagojevich while attending the Illinois State Fair in the Fall of 2003 with some friends back when I was living in Springfield while working for the Illinois & Midland RR. He took quite an interest in me, my hobby, and that my father was both a (soon to be retired) teacher and business owner. Our conversation lasted about 20 minutes (my celebrity moment!), during which time we surprisingly didn't get too deep into politics other than he sized me up as being conservative on certain issues such as taxes and abortion. Regardless, we found some common ground on a handful of things and I took note he actually had a sincere interest in getting to know his constituents. The following year, I went with my same two friends to the State Fair and at almost the exact same spot - the livestock show - the Governor came right up to me and remembered my first & last name, that I liked trains, and that my dad was a teacher!! I have enough trouble with names... Anyways, it looks like he's voting red this November as a "Trumpocrat" - a Democratic Trump supporter. I love it!!!
Patti truly loves her husband. Stayed faithful and never gave up her quest to get her husband released from prison. Gotta give her props on that. We should all be so lucky to have a spouse like that.
Sammy Zonna Damn. Lucky you. She looks like a fine f*ck machine.

So glad his family stuck by him , thanks Mr. President ! Now too many politicians out there that need to be held accountable ! If not in this lifetime GOD will in His ! H.C. I would be worried if I were you ⚡️
You're a changed man Rod, for the better, not for worse. May you go through this world with the grace of the Lord, and that you will continue to strive to higher peaks. Regardless of what people say, what you didn't do or did. It is now, that the intent will make all the difference and a much better place to live. Welcome Home Sir!
As a fellow Serbian-American, I am of two minds when it comes to Rod Blagojevic. On one hand, he is clearly - in a purely legal and technical sense - an innocent man and a victim of the vengeful and political persecution, probably only the third American political prisoner in our history (after Wilhelm Reich and Leonard Peltier, although I am sure there were many more we are not aware of) and I am thrilled that he is now a free man and back with his loving family (Thank you, President Trump!). It should also be noted - something that everyone seems to forget - that during the 1999 bombing of Yugoslavia, at the peak of the war conflict, Blagojevic personally met with the Serbian president and put his life and safety on the line in order to obtain the release of American POWs held by Serbia -- a very significant mitigating circumstance that was never - not even for a second - considered during his "trial". In and of itself, this "minor" episode of personal courage and selflessness should have been enough to earn Blagojevic a presidential Medal of Freedom (instead, it was awarded to monsters like the ugly New York Times scribe William Safire and Madeleine Albright, the war criminal who proudly bragged of "morally justified" killing of 600,000 Iraqi children). On the other hand, Rod Blagojevic was clearly a member of the rotten political machinery and establishment's ruling clique, a knowing and willing participant in the neoliberal, corrupt war lobby called institutional kleptocracy that is eating this country alive, and so, in some strange and ironic sense, his comeuppance was clearly and unequivocally deserved. Here's hoping that his lesson was learnt not only by him, but - even more importantly - by thousands of young people who are considering entering the field of public service. This lesson is actually rather simple and very, very old: when you suck Lucifer's ass, you end up with a lot of fecal matter in your mouth. Welcome back, Rod. Your mission is not over yet.
yay!!! So happy he's out and free and back with his family. Now I don't know if Patti will let him........... but i would be the first in line to vote him back as our governor!! We need someone in there that's for the people!! Sorry, but Pritzker just wants to tax us until we have nothing left to give.
We the people are sorry for the crap you were framed for, we all new it, now justice will prevail and we, will take our state back from these corrupted officials!
Why they Put him in Prison, He Just talked shit about selling the Seat, but he didn't actually sell it? I dont understand, What if he was just talking nonsense (Is Somebody guilty for just talking?)
Laura Smith I agree. I don't buy his innocent victim routine--it's near universal consensus that his conduct was far more egregious than just normal political wheeling and dealing, but if only for his family's sake, I didn't see anything wrong with letting him go home.
This reminds me of the True story, the movie “In the name of the Father” where teenagers were falsely accused of bein Irish bombers, the Guildford four. A great movie with Daniel Day Lewis. This scene here, I believe you can rent it, some snippets are here on TH-cam, the way Blagojevich explains the prison also reminds me in the movie where it’s filmed.
I rarely post any comments regarding politics since I can't stand either side. However, I'll say this: Regardless of what side you lean, you cannot argue that this sentence was reasonable. Many people get stupid drunk and behind a wheel only to kill someone and get way less time than he did. This isn't a left or right argument. He didn't murder anyone. A few years in prison? Sure. 14 years (original sentence)? Come on.
Jesus said: Why did you go into the desert? To see a person clothed in elegant garments like your kings and courtiers? Merchants and salesmen will not enter the places of my father. They wear elegant garments and cannot know the truth. Whoever has power should renounce it. He who has ears, let him hear. - Gospel of Thomas
The only thing wrong with this interview is the undue shoutout to Jackson. He should have been swapped with Blago as a prisoner exchange and given a far longer sentence to match his crimes.
When you keep appealing a sentence and your guilty as sin, they're going to throw the book at you. That's what happened in his case. This man learned nothing from being in prison. He comes out playing the victim and comparing himself to black folks who have had long prison sentences over a little weed. Hardly comparable. He's a joke.
@@mitch103178 We'll have to wait and see. I've been watching this case and there's ALOT more to it than just a sold senate seat. He has something they don't want getting out.

After reading up on what really happened to Gov. Blagojevich... This man got screwed by the DS. Great call Mr. President!

If he had not appeared on Celebrity Apprentice, Trump would not even have looked at his case.

Would you give me a summary in your words of what happened and why he went to prison? I don't know and I don't trust the media to tell me. Thanks
You're a biased fool.
Rod did a lot for Illinois, a lot more than people will ever know because of what happened to him. I'm glad Rod is back home with his family.
