Watching this on my S10 and I'm still scared to try. Update: I originally made this comment 8 months ago. I dropped my phone in water yesterday by accident. It still works but i had to wait a while for it to dry at the charging port though.
If you put it underwater, do not charge it right away, wait 45 minutes before charging it to let it dry. Watching it from my S10+ done it multiple times the phone is awesome, but don't put in seawater because the salt will break the seal water barrier and will destroy the insides of your phone , only on freshwater not pool because the chlorine will destroy the phone too
Amazingly I got brave enough to try this with my S10. It really works and my phone is perfectly fine. But if you do this DO NOT charge it right away. Wait until the phone is dry.
@@jamwhis1016 I read off the Samsung website that if it gets submerged in saltwater just make sure to rinse it off with fresh water to get the salt off and make sure the salt residue doesn't clog up and mess up the phone :)
Too late to point this out probably, but the water pressure in a pool for example when the phone is 1.5M deep is a lot higher than in a circle that's a half a foot in diameter. The rest of the test is extremely informative, and the phone would definitely last if it fell in a tub or a sink, but if you went swimming with your phone by accident I'm not so sure the greater pressure wouldn't force more water into the phone

She had to shake the phone before all the salt came out. Maybe try it horizontal and not vertical. You must have money to be doing those experiments with the phone.
I just tried pouring water on my S10 from a sink with GLASS PROTECTION on the phone, and it still works fine afterwards. But my question is; does the water somehow slip underneath between the glass and the screen and somehow damage the phone?
when you try it with a new or a prepared sample unit, it is no problem. if you try it with an older Galaxy it will take you day to dry it up. simple reason is the sealings getting older and even it is IP68, water will drain inside
It doesnt work. You have to wait hours until the water disappears and you can charge again. Idk about the headphonejack but the speakers from your phone will be very silent

For everyone who doesn't understand the concept of ip68 the test is done in 1 meter of fresh water for 30 minutes and the phone doesn't encounter no water damage during the period of the testing the reason phone manufacturers don't cover water damage is because obviously if you get water damage it was probably a user fault n there is no way to tell if it was a malfunction or just someone testing beyond the limits of the IP rating
Way to take pictures under the water is to put the picture function on the volume key so while under the water you can press the key to take pictures....had to do that when I has my s7
@@tamikasowells2743 that was difficult, I had it in a rice bag for a couple of hours which didn't do anything so I took it to the service centre where they disassembled the phone and used some sort of heat gun to clean the moisture
COBRUH well sorry I didn’t write a follow up on this, the guy at the centre said that 1 capacitor got shorted and he was like “sir this phone might give you problems from time to time” however this being Indian service centres I didn’t trust that guy so much, they said it will cost 25k (350 usd) to replace the whole motherboard which I denied, it’s been 2+ months since I don’t have any problems except the oleophobic coating wearing off I where I use the phone a lot
All the tests were right But what about speaker test after all the tests because speaker does not work properly for some time after being dripped in water I want to know can the speaker get permanently damaged after submerging it in water ? Please answer
I would not purposely put phones in water at all tbh. There are always risks of production mistakes and stuff... After watching this I'll probably be a bit less squeamish around water though haha

I had the same phone and just upgraded because of same bugs. Phone companies do that to old phones to encourage you to purchase the new one. I ended up getting the s10 and it is a great phone without the issues I had on my s7. Up to you though

No don't put the phone in pool, the chlorine in the water will damage the seal( less compared to sea water). Only use in freshwater!
